Press the h-chord twice to get into it. Then you can activate an item (in
the usual way, hyphen-chord); or close an item (dots 1456-chord).

Here in Chicago, BMO Harris Bank offers the ability to withdraw cash
using an iPhone or android phone. I am not a customer of this bank and
do not know how accessible the bank’s app is to perform this task.
Unfortunately, the most sophisticated functions available on talking
ATM's today are not on this bank’s iPhone app. The blind end user must
utilize a talking ATM. Chase seems to have the most access to the
 advanced features.

At chase, people can deposit checks without an envelope and the
machine reads the amount on the check, even if it is handwritten. The
check can be deposited without inputting any amount as this is
captured by the ATM's scanners. Also, cash can be deposited without an
envelope and the ATM recognizes the denominations of the paper
currency and presents them to the end user in audio for approval. The
latest functionality is that the ATM stocks all bill denominations
except the $2 bill. The blind end user can use audio to select the
denominations of the bills to be withdrawn. The ATM does not mix
denominations for the audio user. Bills of the same denominations are
dispensed at the same time until the entire amount is withdrawn. To
summarize, you may be able to withdraw cash using the iPhone app from
some banks. It is unlikely though that you can specify that you want
four $100 bills for a withdraw of $400 instead of all $20 bills.

Hi Dacia.
Yes, just be sure your rotor is set to actions which it usually will
be by default, and press space with dot 3, followed by space with 3-6
to activate the delete option. If you need to move the rotor, you can
use space with dots 5-6 or 2-3 to move through it. 5-6 with space
moves you forward through the rotor options, space 2-3 moves you to
the previous rotor option.

Hope this helps,
Scott

Re: Does anyone know how I can change the tabs which appear in Twitterrific on IPhone and IPad?

Thanks so much for that! I knew they could be changed as my Apple trainer did
tell me once, but it was only briefly and I couldn't remember for the life of
me how to do it!

On a slightly separate note, but still to do with Twitterrific, there is one
thing that they definitely need to work on making more accessible for us -
cleaning the timeline cash! At the moment when you follow the steps VO gives
you absolutely no help what so ever about where the icons are that you need to
touch (it doesn't speak them or anything). Even my trainer's tried and hasn't
found a way so I'm having to rely on sighted help at the moment. So definitely
something they need to fix, unless anyone knows something we don't.

Thanks again.

Re: Downloading A Purchased Book Into iBooks

2015-08-06 Thread Michael Feir
Hi Eileen. Provided your phone and computer are using the same
account, your books should download once you've double-tapped on the
download option as you've apparently done. You may want to close and
re-open iBOOKS and try again.

Re: Downloading A Purchased Book Into iBooks

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your response. I have closed out the app from the app switcher and
reopened it again without any change. The MacBook Air and the iPhone are on the
same Apple ID account and password. I am perplexed that I can't get out of this
loop. Is there a method to delete the book from the iBook app from the phone
and redownload it? I'm thinking that the download some how got corrupted in the
process. Thanks again for responding and for your assistance.

Best,

Re: Jawbone app. accessibility

Thanks, I'm glad to know I'll be able to use it. I went ahead and purchased the

Sharing contacts

2015-08-06 Thread Jan Kleinhans
Hi all

Is it indeed possible to share a contact from my iPhone 4S via messaging to
phones on a different platform? I can find the options to share via email,
messaging and so on. So, I choose to share a relevant contact via text
message, and my wife has an older nokia phone. When I send the message, I
receive a message failure notifications in the text messaging app, and then the
contact is not shared at all. Is this normal, and does this mean that you can
only share via messaging to another apple device then? Any help appreciated.

There may be touch pads on A T Ms, but, in the U.S. there must also be

I attended the NFB convention and went to the booths where the company
who makes the majority of ATMs was demonstrating the traditional ATM
and a touch screen ATM. I asked about apps and they are not pursuing
it at this time. I think being able to use your smart phone would be
great because we all know exactly how to use it. The company will not
introduce flat screen ATMs in the U.S. any time in the near future
because of current requirements in the ADA that need to be changed
 first.

Jawbone app. accessibility

2015-08-06 Thread Marie BAISEZ

Hi there,
I use a Jawbone Up24 and its app. daily, I find the device quite useful,
of course, not a patch on the Apple watch I presume, but cheaper to buy
especially at that price for sure.
The app. is not totally accessible but with a little patience and time,
I'm sure you will understand its querks. If you ignore the pretty
graphics, you will find it gives good and relevant information almost in
real time and the site is pretty good as well.
Should you need more info or help, don't hesitate to contact me
privately or via this list, I monitor it daily.

All the best,
Marie
P.S. You can always hide the device under a sleeve if its colour is not
to your liking.

Hi,
Are you using 6-dot or 8-dot Braille input on your display? I'm using a
Braillenote Apex with 8-dot input. Though it means more keystrokes, I find
that I can be much more precise and don't have to worry about any on-the-fly
Braille translation weirdness. So I'm writing in Computer Braille, and, to
capitalize any letter I'll press the backspace key along with the letter to
be typed. The same goes for the at sign. Instead of typing dot 4 for the
at sign, I add the backspace key and that does the trick. Hope this helps
some.

Hi, on another list, I was told if you have iOS 8 for early later, or at least
iOS 8, press dots 236 with the and set it to 8.mode. Once it is an 8.mode, if
you do the backspace key with the.40, it will show up as the at sign. It does
require you to type and computer braille, which if you know it, isn't a big
deal. I hope this helps.
Thank you,

Re: how to write the at sign in an email address using a braille display with the Iphone 6

2015-08-06 Thread Dacia Cole
Hi,

I was trying to dictate the message and there was a lot of background
noise so I wanted to write it out as well.

To set the braille display input mode to eight dot mode press dots
2-3-6 with the space bar. Once it's set to eight dot mode, you'll
need to use computer braille to type the information you want. To
insert the @ sign, just press the backspace key which is also known as
dot seven along with the dot 4 key. I hope this helps.

thanks,

Dacia

it, isn't a big deal. I hope this helps.
 Thank you,
Dacia you have to do the backspace key with the dot for key.
