Re: Questions about iOS 8 and the iPhone 4s

2016-06-17 Thread Jeffrey Shockley
Hi,
I haven’t seen that in a long long time. iOS 9 should fix it. Try turning off
all the unnecessary animations and such, it will make a big difference. All the
settings for this are under Accessibility. One is called Reduce Motion but I
can’t think of what the other one is called. Reduce Transparencey maybe? And
then, turn on Increase contrast I think it is. The settings I just mentioned
are in that same general area.
These tricks should get it back a little faster than it was. :)
I hope this helps,
Jeffrey

Questions about iOS 8 and the iPhone 4s

2016-06-17 Thread Brandi Penton

Hi all. So i'm running ios 8 with a 4s. The biggest problem i have with it is
that voice over seems to skip elements on the screen. I know people have had
problems with this in the past, but i'm wondering, was that fixed with ios 9?
If i update, will i completely tank my 4s? It's already running a little slow
sometimes. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Ibooks

2016-06-17 Thread Mary Otten
You cannot read iBooks with voice dream reader. You read iBooks in the iBooks
app. To continuously read, get focus on the page and do a two finger swipe
down. It will continuously read, when you stop and go away and close out the
book and then come back, it will pick up where you left off. You do the two
finger flick down again and reading will recommence. It will read using the
voice you have selected for voiceover. So you can use any voice that is
currently on your phone that VoiceOver has access to, such as Alex or Samantha
or Daniel etc.

Yes I have tried this. It does work and I found using the stand a different way
up by placing it so the part where you rest the paper or book was flat on the
table and the shelf where you rest your phone was flat so your phone screen
faced the ceiling. That works best for large books.

RE: Hey Siri irritation I hope they fix

2016-06-17 Thread Alan Lemly
At least as far as I'm concerned, the way to get me NOT to use a product is to
make its performance inconsistent. Apple seems to have nailed the inconsistency
where Siri is concerned and I can only hope that we see improvements sooner
rather than later. I find I'm using the Google app for any knowledge-based
questions that don't involve app interaction.

SIRI seems to be very inconsistent. For years I always said "Call my office"
when I wanted to call my store. I of course have my own contact card with work
and cell number and this was never a problem.
Yesterday I said "Call my office" as I always do and SIRI came back and said "I
don't have a phone number for Doris - office". I have a contact with first name
Doris, but I tried it several times throughout the day clearly pronouncing my
request and each time I got the Doris thing. I say "Call my work" and it's
fine. I just tried it again and again I get the reply that it doesn't have a
phone number for Doris - Office". Well, at least it's now consistent about not
having a phone number for Doris!
Another example is this: I ask SIRI "Look for nearby restaurants". It starts
telling me about restaurants it found and as Mary said, each time it will ask
"Is this the one you want?". If I say "Yes" it will then say "Great, I can call
this location or give you directions, which do you want". Let's say I want to
call so I say "Call". Usually it will then go ahead and call, but a few weeks
ago and for at least a week or two each time I said "Call" after it asked, SIRI
would then come back and ask "Who do you want to call" as if it forgot that it
just found a business for me and asked if I wanted to call it. Lately this has
been working correctly again, but as I said, SIRI is very limited in some of
what it can do and even in what it can do it's often inconsistent.
It will be interesting to see how it will be in the fall when the Apple servers
have to handle many more requests because of all the additional things people
will ask SIRI to do with respect to those apps that can make use of SIRI.
I just listened to the Apple Byte podcast and Brian Tong said while SIRI is
available to developers in a limited fashion in iOS 10 and may be able to do a
few more things, he feels that it is not actually going to get "smarter" as in
being able to handle more complex or layered requests. Maybe it will next year,
but I think for now the gap between SIRI and other artificial intelligence
personal assistants will continue to grow.

Sieghard

Here is something I do not understand about Siri. This happens a lot for me. If
I ask Siri for either the phone number or the specific address of a business
located on such and such a Street, Siri always comes back and says something
like I found one on such and such a Street. Is that the one you want? It is the
one I asked for. Why does Siri need to ask me if what I just asked for is what
I want? This is the opposite of an intelligent assistant.

Re: Deleting a facebook post from my timeline

2016-06-17 Thread C D
Hello, Candy.

There are two ways to delete a post you’ve posted on Facebook. I’ll give the
steps to one first, then, I’ll give the steps to the second way, which will
also answer your second question. My instructions for this are assuming you’re
using an iPhone.

Option 1:
1. Find the post you want to edit or delete.
2. Double-tap with two fingers
3. A menu will appear, choose the ‘More’ option.
4. You can choose any option from there, one of which is ‘delete.’ You will be
asked for confirmation.

Ok, now for the second way:
1. Go to the ‘more’ tab.
2. Go to your profile, then choose ‘activity log.’
3. You will see an option to filter what you want to see, or you can leave it
showing everything, however, If you have a lot of comments, likes, shares, etc,
you might find it easier to choose whether you want to see posts by you, saved,
or many other choices. The rest of these instructions will work, no matter
which you choose.
4. Find the post or saved item you want to remove or change.
5. From the post, swipe until you hear ‘options for this post button,’ and
double-tap this button.
6. I’ve found no other way to see the options that appear, except running one
finger down the right half of the screen, somewhere near the middle of the page.
7. You’ll see several ways to edit the post, including ‘edit privacy’ and
‘delete.’
8. Double-tap the one you want, and job done. :)

Hope this helps you. I wrote it in a hurry, so if you have any questions, let
me know.

Cheers,

Candie

My prediction, iOS 11 will work on the 5s and up. iOS 12, 6 and up, etc etc.
But Apple did surprise us last year when they announced all devices running iOS
8 could run iOS 9. So what I put here is only speculation.

2016-06-17 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

The 2 guys who founded Siri, sold Siri to Apple, and continue to work with
Apple in some capacity were interviewed on the CBS This Morning show this
morning.

IN a new endeavor, they are working on expanded virtual intelligence with a new
assistant termbed Vib. Apparently, this will be available to some in some
capacity later this year. They said it should expand virtual assistance from
the current several dozen capabilities as available in Siri to "thousands"
within Vib using something they termed conversational communication ( I may
have the second term wrong). Apparetly it's based on the Watson platform IBM
used to win at Jeopardy. Not surprisingly, they talked in quite expansive
terms, but at least it sounds as if more capabilities will be hitting the
streets within months to several years. It's important to note they were
talking about their new endeavor, and didn't tie it in to an Apple partnership
in any way.

Siri works great for doing tasks on the phone. However Siri is woefully under
par when it comes to searching for info. For most general questions, she says:
I have turned something up on the web. She worked a lot better when her search
engine was Google. I don't care for bing's search engine. It doesn't give as
good results and is not as crisp as Google. I wish that Google was the default
search engine for Siri again. To me, she worked much better then.

Hi Barry,

Edit your Yellow Cab contact and put “Yellow Cab” not just in the company field
but also in the last name field. You will most likely find that SIRI will call
it properly without looking it up online which is what you describe. I had the
same problem with some local businesses here like Safeway, but as soon as I put
the business name in the last name field SIRI will take it from your contacts
instead of looking it up online. It’s ridiculous that SIRI can’t even search
the company field of contacts and you basically have to duplicate the company
name in the last name field.

I have found that even if I have the business in my contacts SIRI will still
respond in that way.

I say: “Call Yellow Cab” and SIRI responds “I found a Yellow cab on Gladstone
Street is that the one you want?”

Even worse if I say “Call Caseno Taxi” also in my contacts
SIRI will often respond “I found “Caseno Nova Scotia on Barrington Street . .
.” - Totally unrelated to my request.

It would seem as if there may be a different search algorithm which basis
responses on paying customers.

I have noticed this since iOS 8. It is so inefficient now. If you ask it to
call a friend or family member in your contacts it works fine. Otherwise I now
say “dial” and give it the number of the taxi company I want.

RE: Hey Siri irritation I hope they fix

2016-06-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Re: Hey Siri irritation I hope they fix

2016-06-17 Thread Barry Abbott

Deleting a facebook post from my timeline

2016-06-17 Thread Candy Lowe
Hello everyone,
This morning I posted something on my timeline, and then noticed I misspelled a
word. I wanted to delete the post, but, could not figure out how to do it. I
went to my timeline and clicked on activity log. I found the post I wanted to
delete, but, could never find a button to hide or delete it. I googled it, and
it said to hover over the post, and you should see a delete or hide button,
but, never saw that. It seems that I deleted a post a couple of months ago,
but, either the app changed with updates, or, I just don't remember what I did.
Another facebook question. How do you delete posts that you have saved on your
facebook page?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: WWDC event, was it yesterday?

2016-06-17 Thread John Panarese
We are straying far off course here, but you are, again, over simplifying
things. It isn’t easy for the average consumer to do the required research to
find out just what handsets work best for accessibility in Android. It’s just
not an easy task. For you or me, it might be, but most blind people can’t or
won’t do it for several reasons. So, you buy an Apple product, you have
accessibility. That’s a very big comfort. It makes a big difference for the
average consumer. Also don’t underestimate how the fragmentation of Android
will continue to effect accessibility for Android either because it will have a
big impact on serious advances and making it truly a viable option for us.

Secondly, regardless of what the fault is, yes, 60 percent of Android
devices do have some sort of malware on it. This ranges from minor pieces to
more sinister pieces, and the fact is, there are a lot of ways that anyone
looking to take advantage of it can do it in the Android environment. Such
examples can be found in many places on Youtube and the Internet to prove that
point. It’s why I am very careful in what I load onto my device, and, yes, deny
it or not, it has to do with the fact that it’s open source, or, at least, that
does make it easier. Linux is an entirely different story and something far
beyond this discussion.

As for marketing, it has a lot more to do than price points. Again, this is
way off topic, but I’ll just mention two very large factors that are part of
the proverbial tip of the iceberg when it comes to the data you state, which,
by the way, is off a bit in reality. I like to read a lot about trends in all
kinds of data, which includes markets, and I have a childhood friend who makes
a living with it, so he has been a very good and reliable source for me over
the years.

Apple sales are, in fact, sales. When they post the numbers of product
sales, it’s product that has been purchased by the end user. They obviously
have a much easier time of this because of the fact they control the outlets,
despite some stores, like Best Buy, selling Apple products.

With many Android handset and tablet makers, as well as Microsoft, the
sales numbers only count product shipped to stores. In other words, you can
ship 1 million pieces to your retailers, but if only fifteen percent of those
devices are actually purchased by consumers, you still count it as 1 million
sales in the books. This is extremely misleading and does not at all tell the
real story. A great example of this is the old Microsoft Zune music player and
how they were reporting millions of sales of the device when, in actuality,
they sold about a half a million of them when the final numbers were counted.

On top of that, you need only listen to the ads on TV and radio for Android
phones and tablets. How many offers do you hear in which you buy one Android
device and get the second one for free? Guess what? That free device given to
the customer is counted as a sale by the majority of hardware makers. So,
again, you have a serious blur in the actual data. This is one of the major
reasons why Apple’s profit margins are so much higher than other companies.
Those free devices being given away take a major chunk out of the money you
make on top of the fact that many hardware makers are already selling their
devices with slim margins to start.

Overall, though, to keep this post on track, at the moment, Apple simply
has a far better handle on accessibility than the competition. Personally,
though, I happen to love competition, and I wish that Android accessibility had
a far better opportunity to improve, as they are just dealing with far too many
factors to make this a realistic possibility as it stands now. In other words,
you have to buy the latest and greatest Android device to be able to get
accessibility that is still a few year’s behind Apple to start, and in six
months, you won’t be able to upgrade that device anyway.

In my opinion, I think competition helps the blind because it forces there
to be advances and improvements for us. You want Apple to be pushed and you
want every other company to have motivation to keep making their software and
hardware accessible. I don’t see the commitment in many other companies to do
this in the short term as Apple does. Talk to me in a few years and we’ll see
where we stand. I’ve been in this industry since 1992, and a lot of things have
changed since I was a reseller of assistive technology alone. I never thought
back then at all that I’d ever see Apple where it is now in the area of
accessibility.

RE: WWDC event, was it yesterday?

2016-06-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think this whole discussion is somewhat pointless because there will always
be Apple/iOS fans and there will be Android fans whether the device is from
Google, Samsung or somebody else. I am sure Apple, Google, Samsung and many
other companies very much pay attention to what everybody is doing, but I
really don't think it is correct to say Apple is hurting just because for the
first time in 10 years their iPhone sales have been more or less stagnant and
iPad sales have gone down compared to the first few years. When Apple first
introduced the iPhone it was revolutionary, but no company can keep up
revolutionary year after year after year indefinitely. Products grow and mature
at which point assuming they can grow at the initial percentages is just not
possible. Apple continues to make enormous amounts of money and I'm sure they
will continue from time to time to come out with ver innovative and maybe even
revolutionary things, but I think we all need to understand tat as a particular
technology matures we can't expect that to happen each year.
I just read an article that talked about bendable screens and devices and it
was pointed out that such devices may only be a year or two away so maybe that
is the next big thing, think of a 12 inch tablet which you fold in half and in
half again and it becomes a pocket-size phone, how cool is that. Let's see when
it happens and who will bring it to market or maybe somebody will come up with
something most people haven't even considered yet.

Well, I don't regularly follow market share numbers, but from what I've read
lately, all of the top manufacturers, including Samsung and Apple, are losing
out to up and coming Chinese hand set makers. Market share numbers are also
complex and require some deeper investigation. Sieghard did a good job of
pointing this out when talking about how many price points you have with
Android that you don't have with Apple.

I agree fragmentation in the Android ecosystem is an issue, but I don't see how
this applies to this discussion. Whether there's fragmentation or not doesn't
change the market share numbers.

The fact that 60% of Android handsets has malware on it is a misleading
statistic. Also, this is not because Android contains some open source
software. My Linux system is much more secure than a Windows PC or even a Mac.

It is true that some handsets aren't as accessible as others due to
modifications made by the handset maker, but it's easy to avoid this with a
little research, all handsets have gotten more accessible over time and
Jonathan's article does a good job of discussing this.

Bloatware is a misleading term. The Samsung phones have a lot of accessibility
improvements in them that haven't made it to Android or Talk Back yet, so it
isn't true that Google devices are always the most accessible. In fact, Samsung
has added some features to their version of Talk Back to make it easier for
iPhone users to make the transition to Android.

I have a Nexus 7, and I can't recall a single application that came on the
phone that was not accessible. This is also true for other handset makers, such
as Samsung. I have switched to a few new default applications, such as a
launcher, email program and web browser, but this was due to choice and not
because the original applications were not accessible. I didn't have any
trouble picking up and using my Nexus 7, and I am just a casual user. I don't
think I've had to be a geek to use Android.

Remember, this discussion started when someone said Apple had no real
competition. I and others pointed out that this isn't true. You may not like
Android, and you may not think that the market share numbers for Android,
demonstrate real competition to Apple, but I would disagree with this, and I'm
pretty sure Apple is paying attention to what's going on with Google, Android,
Samsung and other handset manufacturers and consider this real competition.

I don't think I did anything to turn this into an Android versus iPhone debate,
and I'm sorry if I did. I do think it's important that information be accurate
and that blind users know what their options are. I'm not rooting for Apple or
Android or anything other than more accessible options for the blind. I cheer
for increased accessibility in Android just as much as I do for improvements in
Apple. I think it's unfortunate whenever an accessible product disappears from
the market, even if it was a product I chose not to use.

Hi Marie,

You might want to investigate range extenders which are not all that expensive
and can probably extend your WiFi signal. Another option would be to get
somebody to run an Ethernet cable from your router to the garage and install an
inexpensive wireless access point there, an Apple Airport Express for around
$60 would do the trick. CAT 5E Ethernet cables can easily be 100 or 150 feet
long.

I am replacing my garage door and yes there is an app to use your iPhone to
open it. The problem is my garage is out of range of my

Re: WWDC event, was it yesterday?

2016-06-17 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Well, I don't regularly follow market share numbers, but from what I've
read lately, all of the top manufacturers, including Samsung and Apple,
are losing out to up and coming Chinese hand set makers. Market share
numbers are also complex and require some deeper investigation. Sieghard
did a good job of pointing this out when talking about how many price
points you have with Android that you don't have with Apple.

I agree fragmentation in the Android ecosystem is an issue, but I don't
see how this applies to this discussion. Whether there's fragmentation
or not doesn't change the market share numbers.

The fact that 60% of Android handsets has malware on it is a misleading
statistic. Also, this is not because Android contains some open source
software. My Linux system is much more secure than a Windows PC or even
a Mac.

It is true that some handsets aren't as accessible as others due to
modifications made by the handset maker, but it's easy to avoid this
with a little research, all handsets have gotten more accessible over
time and Jonathan's article does a good job of discussing this.

Bloatware is a misleading term. The Samsung phones have a lot of
accessibility improvements in them that haven't made it to Android or
Talk Back yet, so it isn't true that Google devices are always the most
accessible. In fact, Samsung has added some features to their version of
Talk Back to make it easier for iPhone users to make the transition to
Android.

I have a Nexus 7, and I can't recall a single application that came on
the phone that was not accessible. This is also true for other handset
makers, such as Samsung. I have switched to a few new default
applications, such as a launcher, email program and web browser, but
this was due to choice and not because the original applications were
not accessible. I didn't have any trouble picking up and using my Nexus
7, and I am just a casual user. I don't think I've had to be a geek to
use Android.

Remember, this discussion started when someone said Apple had no real
competition. I and others pointed out that this isn't true. You may not
like Android, and you may not think that the market share numbers for
Android, demonstrate real competition to Apple, but I would disagree
with this, and I'm pretty sure Apple is paying attention to what's going
on with Google, Android, Samsung and other handset manufacturers and
consider this real competition.

I don't think I did anything to turn this into an Android versus iPhone
debate, and I'm sorry if I did. I do think it's important that
information be accurate and that blind users know what their options
are. I'm not rooting for Apple or Android or anything other than more
accessible options for the blind. I cheer for increased accessibility in
Android just as much as I do for improvements in Apple. I think it's
unfortunate whenever an accessible product disappears from the market,
even if it was a product I chose not to use.

On 16/06/16 22:07, John Panarese wrote:

Actually, if you have been keeping up with the markets, Samsung has
been losing a lot of market share to both Apple, but from other Android
handset makers. In fact, in their home country, they are no longer the
largest handset company any longer. This doesn’t take into consideration
the fact that Android overall continues to fracture in its use across
devices, as the fact that less than 2 percent of all Android users are
even running the latest software and over seventy percent of Android
users don’t even know what is the latest software or if their device can
even run it. In point of fact, handset makers really don’t want their
user base to be able to upgrade their devices for lengthy periods of
time which is why Android users often find their devices outdated within
three months of [purchase it as just happened to my cousin.

Add to that the additional reality that sixty percent of Android
users have some form of malware on their phones or tablets is somewhat
disturbing to me. It’s the risks you take with open source software,
like it or not. It’s why I use Android for only curiosity and my geeky
interest than utilize it for any important work.

Also, from personal experience, to say Android is accessible out of
the box is misleading. You have to take into consideration as to what
device you are using. Out of the box, this can make a major difference
in your Android experience, and in some cases, what other software you
have to download. Accessibility works far better on Google devices
because there isn’t the other bloatware that other handset manufacturers
include. It’s why I went with a Google device and not another maker’s
product. Also, web accessibility in Android is very sporadic. You do, in
fact, have to be much more of a geek or a tinkerer to really use both
Android and accessibility effectively. I have two particular friends who
have really taught me a lot about Android over the last year.

synthesizers, but I've only ever played with Google's TTS on my Nexus 7.

Hi Sieghard, sad to say, Siri won't be opening your Audible book any
time soon. For iOS 10.0, the Siri API will only work with six kinds
of application: ride booking, messaging , Photo Search, payments,
Calling, and Workouts.

So, Siri won't be able to open a book in Voice Dream, Bard, or any
other third-party book app. It won't be able to play music for you
on Spotify or Pandora. It won't be able to play the most recent
episode of a podcast using third-party podcast apps. I have no idea
why Apple is so tone deaf to how far it is lagging behind in this
space, but what they're coming out with is only going to improve the
situation slightly.

Warning: Don't upgrade the Hive app

2016-06-17 Thread 'ChalmersAS' via VIPhone
The latest Hive Heating update seems to have broken accessibility completely,
not that it was all that great in the first place. Don’t update the app.

I am sure you will forgive me for cross posting this.

Re: JAWS and Window-Eyes

2016-06-17 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
mS have been fiddling with Narrator as long as NVDA has been around, and
they've not got it right yet. so they've had every
opportunity and wasted it.
Companies do buy up products, to squash them so their own offering gains a
larger market share. Some very good products went to the
wall this way - xTree, Framework, Borland's Turbo- programming packages.

The guys with JAWS and now W.E, are hardly going to waste resources maintaining
two parallel products, when they can sell just the
one in a little less competative market.

There are times when one would be glad to be wrong, but will believe it when I
see it.

Hi,

I think you got me wrong. If MS bought NVDA, it wouldn't be to squash it but
to build it into Windows to become the equivalent of
VO in Apple. In fact, I wouldn't mind betting that Microsoft would love to be
accessible out of the box like Apple is.

If MS bought up NVDA to squash it, there'd be no options at all.

Hi,

Indeed you missed the boat last year or so when AISquared and GW Micro came
together. At the time, I thought they did that to be
able to compete better with Freedom Scientific. As it turns out, VFO, the
company behind Freedom Scientific now acquired the whole
package and leave us with no competition. As we all well know, competition is
what makes the products get better but now, no
competition could mean no improvement but for one thing, NVDA is getting under
their skin. Just imagine for one second that
Microsoft with all its money purchased NVDA and incorporated it into Windows.
In that case, I wouldn’t want to be the proud owner
of VFO shares.

Yes, but what about those of us who can't afford to go to conventions?

Hi Keith,

It sounds like this company AI Square owns Window-Eyes, I thought that was a
product of GW Micro. If not then I guess this means
Freedom Scientific now has acquired one of the biggest competitors of Jaws at
least when it comes to paid screenreaders. Listening
to the latest FS Cast from Jonathan it sounds like Freedom Scientific is
definitely offering some super deals during the summer
conventions for people to either buy Jaws for the first time or upgrade to the
latest version if somebody has an older copy and didn’t
maintain their SMA. $75 for Jaws is a total steal as is $50 for the upgrade
from any old version to the latest Jaws 17.

Sieghard

Hi,

Copying this from another list. Most of us use JAWS or Window-Eyes for iTunes

Sorry for the cross posting for those of you who are on more than one list This
is officially from Apple, so I don't see how
anybody, i.e. list moderator, could object.

Apple Previews New Accessibility Features Set to Come Later this Year in iOS,
watchOS, tvOS, and macOS
AppleVis | Empowering blind and low-vision users of Apple products ... /
AppleVis

At its annual Worldwide Developer's Conference this week, Apple previewed some
of the new accessibility features coming to its iOS,
watchOS, tvOS, and macOS platforms later this year. At this point, it's worth
noting that this software is still in beta form, and
not all features--particularly, the specifics of how they will be
implemented--are finalized. With that said, below is what Apple
has announced will be coming for users of accessibility features:

iOS 10

VoiceOver will include a pronunciation editor, allowing users to customize how
the speech synthesizer says particular words.
VoiceOver will gain the option to send audio to multiple sources. This will
allow users to have VoiceOver playing through one audio
source while sending music to another.
A new Magnifier feature will allow one to magnify objects using the camera on
your iPhone or iPad. One can use the device's flash to
provide additional light, and color filter to assist in differentiation.
A number of new color filters will be available to assist users with color
blindness and other vision challenges.
Speak Screen and Speak Selection will gain the ability to highlight sentences
along with words. Additionally, users will have the
option of having letters on the keyboard and predictive typing selections
spoken aloud.
Users of Switch Control will be able to control other connected devices from an
iPhone or iPad. Among other possibilities, this
could let a person using Switch Control control an Apple TV from their iPhone.
Software TTY will allow users who are deaf or hard of hearing to place and
receive TTY calls without the need for traditional
hardware teletypewriter accessories.
watchOS 3

Taptic Time will allow VoiceOver users to tell the time entirely by haptic
feedback. Available options include Digits, Terse, and
Morse Code.
The Xtra Large Watch Face will gain new complications, allowing users to
customize which feature they want to be prominent on the
screen.
The Activity and Workout apps will be optimized for wheelchair users. "Time to
Stand" becomes "Time to Roll"; wheelchair pushes
contribute to all-day calorie goals; and there will be dedicated
wheelchair-specific workouts available.
tvOS 10

For VoiceOver users, High Quality voices; a pronunciation editor; and support
for audio routing will be available.
A number of new color filters will be available to assist users with color
blindness and other vision challenges.
Apple TV will gain Switch Control support for users with physical motor
limitations. This includes the ability to control other
connected Apple devices from an Apple TV.
macOS Sierra

Apple's Accessibility Team has placed significant emphasis on improving the
user experience for VoiceOver users in macOS Sierra.
While not specifically an accessibility feature, Siri will be coming to the
Mac--and may be of particular interest and added value
to some users with disabilities. Siri capabilities include sending messages;
creating reminders; web searches; location look-up, and
more. Siri is also able to assist a user in finding files and getting
information about your Mac.
New to Switch Control is Dwell support--a feature for users who are able to
move the mouse through solutions such as head- or
eye-tracking hardware, but who have difficulty clicking or dragging objects.
Switch Control users will also be able to control other connected Apple devices
through their Macs.
Looking Ahead

It is expected that iOS 10, watchOS 3, tvOS 10, and macOS Sierra will be
released to the public in the fall. During the WWDC
keynote, Apple announced that iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will enter public beta in
July; if you are able and have the inclination, it
would be wonderful if as many VoiceOver users as possible were able to test the
betas and provide feedback to Apple. More
information about Apple's Public Beta Program, including a link to sign up, is
available at http://beta.apple.com.
