help with the uverse app

2015-07-13 Thread Patti Johnson
I am wondering if it's has changed with the various updates. I was
kicked out of it and hadn't been in in a while, had to reset my pass
word and all that.
I am trying to set my dvr up to record something and either I ha ve
forgetten the steps to do so, or it's different now.
I find recordings and time and date or a to z but when I tap on either
one the guide keeps coming up, even if I search for a channel and then
try to set up a time and date I lose it once I tap on time or try to
find the show I want.

I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
Any help some one can give, off list if better, would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Some questions about the amazon basics bluetooth keyboard

2015-07-13 Thread Alan Paganelli
Search Amazon.com for the keyboard case If I remember right, it was only 20
dollars USD. It does a very good job of keeping the keyboard dust free and,
you can drop a couple triple (A) batteries in the case for just in case.

The way I use mine is not to control my iPhone but rather to enter in text such
as with email.

Re: Some questions about the amazon basics bluetooth keyboard

2015-07-13 Thread Alan Paganelli
I would strongly disagree with your asessment. I found my Amazon Basics
bluetooth wireless keyboard well made and a pleasure to use. I do admit though
that the only thing I use mine for is when I'm out and about and need a
keyboard. Alternitive is to get yourself a keyboard case. They have them for
iPhone and iPad. The phone or iPad sits in a holder like the screen on a
laptop with the typing keys where you would expect them to be. An iPhone pops
out quickly if you need to answer your phone but an ear peace such as the
Legend would let you even get away from that as well.

Re: apple music, not so great!

2015-07-13 Thread Ezzie Bueno
Hi Christina and others:

The way I've indicated for iTunes radio to play more like this is
via the locked screen on my iPhone. To the left of the track title and
artist, there should be a button that says love, not set if you
haven't already indicated that you like the song. Otherwise, it says,
Lov, yes.
Here's how I play all songs by a particular artist or band:
I search for the artist, and navigate to the Songs heading. Each
heading (albums, song, etc) is also a button. I double-tap the Songs
heading/button and voila!
Hope this helps!

All the best,
Ezzie Bueno

On 7/13/15, Christina C. blindmaclo...@gmail.com wrote:
I think since it’s free for three months, there is no harm in trying the
subscription for free. However, I must admit that I am quite disappointed
with apple music subscription myself. If you ask me, for my personal
preference I think Slacker Radio has the best gig in town. :) The problem is
that I think they broke accessibility a few months ago. :( I think the thing
I loved about Slacker Radio is that I could really tweak the stations. I
could change a slider to tweak various categories, such as favorites, new,
related artists, and favorites. The apple Music database seems more
extensive than Slacker Radio’s though. I also do like poking around in the
apple created playlists. However, it seems to be a lot of work to make my
own playlists based on the ones they have started since I can’t copy the
playlists and then tweak them. I also wish there was a way to browse all of
their apple created playlists. If there is a way and someone knows where
they are I’d appreciate a tip on how to find them. I only see the ones apple
suggested in the You tab. I have also seen some apple playlists when I do
searches, but they have playlists with titles I never would have thought to
search for. So it’d be great if I could browse through them. :)

Some of the things you mentioned that you can’t do with apple music might be
there but are more of a challenge to find. For example the shuffle seems to
be available anywhere but it is in the now playing screen. After you play a
song in any particular list of songs, like a playlist, go to the mini player
and double tap on it and the shuffle option should be there.

Anyways, the apple music subscription is fine if you want to take the time
to make all kinds of playlists for yourself. However, so far, in my
experience I very much dislike the radio station portion of Apple Music. I
really hate that I absolutely cannot find a way to ban a song or artist in
any particular radio station. I’ve heard there is a play less like this
option but I cannot access it. A sighted friend found it once but cannot
find it again. If I try to create a station based on an artist or song, I
get all kinds of crazy stuff that personally seems totally unrelated to the
station I am trying to create. then I am stuck with it since I have no
banning or thumbs down option. :( I’ve heard that skipping songs is supposed
to let apple know that you don’t care for that, however, that is incredibly
stupid. I sometimes skip songs because I just heard it five minutes ago on
another station and don’t feel like hearing it just now, or I skip songs
because they don’t fit my particular mood at that time, like when cleaning
the house, I don’t feel like hearing a slow love song. I am not trying to be
negative, I love love apple and everything I own by them but I feel very
frustrated with the appleMusic subscription right now. It’s possible that I
just do not know how to use it. Another thing I can’t seem to find, is how
to just play all songs by a particular artist. I can play an album, but I
can’t figure out how to play all of their songs and albums.

I also cannot find a history anywhere. For example, where is a list of all
the songs I have hearted? I should be able to go through those and edit that
list. I’d also love to just hit a play all button or something to have apple
music play all of the songs that I hearted. Also, if it’s true about the
skips affecting what apple will choose to play for me than I should be able
to access the list of songs that apple assumes I don’t like. I mean, I have
 even skipped songs by accident.

Another very frustrating aspect is that there is a family subscription but
my children often cannot find the radio versions of songs but can only find
the explicit versions and they are very frustrated with this. Sometimes we
even hear the radio version played on Beats one but when we try to add that
version to their music library or playlist, those options are not available.
I assume that it is because apple does not have the full licensing rights
to it. In Slacker Radio and Pandora, there is a setting that turns off
explicit content. In slacker Radio, the radio version is played when
available, and it usually is available, in Pandora, I think it blanks out
certain words, which is not preferable but better than nothing. :)

that is correct many reviews indicate people having this issue and some have

Hi,
I can't say what is causing the random reboot sadly but can vouch for the
fact that there were some significant design issues some encountered with
otterbox's offerings for the 6Plus. I went with a similar type case called
the supcase unicorn beetle I think it was and it hasn't exhibited the same
issues and is at a slightly lower price point. Note I'm not the sort who
puts my phone in high impact situations that'd threaten its well being so
can't say unequivocally that this case would serve for instance those in
construction or rugged outdoor life well but it's meet my needs quite
handily in lieu of the Otterbox this go around anyway.
Here's hoping your rebooting issues get sorted quickly. Perhaps some
diagnostic runs through apple before you abandon ship or device as it were?

Just a thought.
Good luck with it.

Re: apple music, not so great!

2015-07-13 Thread Christina C.
Oh I am unaware of problems if you already have a large iTunes library. I
never synced my library to my phone because I just used to use Slacker Radio. I
stopped regularly purchasing music a couple of years ago when I switched to
subscription services and therefor all of my purchased music in my iTunes
library is old. LOL! So, what kind of bad things happen if you sign up for
apple music and use the iCloud option if you previously have a large iTunes
library. I haven’t noticed anything but this could be important as I have not
updated iTunes on my Mac yet and that is where my iTunes library is. I’d like
to avoid problems on my iPhone.

Thanks,

Re: apple music, not so great!

2015-07-13 Thread Christina C.
I think since it’s free for three months, there is no harm in trying the
subscription for free. However, I must admit that I am quite disappointed with
apple music subscription myself. If you ask me, for my personal preference I
think Slacker Radio has the best gig in town. :) The problem is that I think
they broke accessibility a few months ago. :( I think the thing I loved about
Slacker Radio is that I could really tweak the stations. I could change a
slider to tweak various categories, such as favorites, new, related artists,
and favorites. The apple Music database seems more extensive than Slacker
Radio’s though. I also do like poking around in the apple created playlists.
However, it seems to be a lot of work to make my own playlists based on the
ones they have started since I can’t copy the playlists and then tweak them. I
also wish there was a way to browse all of their apple created playlists. If
there is a way and someone knows where they are I’d appreciate a tip on how to
find them. I only see the ones apple suggested in the You tab. I have also seen
some apple playlists when I do searches, but they have playlists with titles I
never would have thought to search for. So it’d be great if I could browse
through them. :)

Some of the things you mentioned that you can’t do with apple music might be
there but are more of a challenge to find. For example the shuffle seems to be
available anywhere but it is in the now playing screen. After you play a song
in any particular list of songs, like a playlist, go to the mini player and
double tap on it and the shuffle option should be there.

Anyways, the apple music subscription is fine if you want to take the time to
make all kinds of playlists for yourself. However, so far, in my experience I
very much dislike the radio station portion of Apple Music. I really hate that
I absolutely cannot find a way to ban a song or artist in any particular radio
station. I’ve heard there is a play less like this option but I cannot access
it. A sighted friend found it once but cannot find it again. If I try to create
a station based on an artist or song, I get all kinds of crazy stuff that
personally seems totally unrelated to the station I am trying to create. then I
am stuck with it since I have no banning or thumbs down option. :( I’ve heard
that skipping songs is supposed to let apple know that you don’t care for that,
however, that is incredibly stupid. I sometimes skip songs because I just heard
it five minutes ago on another station and don’t feel like hearing it just now,
or I skip songs because they don’t fit my particular mood at that time, like
when cleaning the house, I don’t feel like hearing a slow love song. I am not
trying to be negative, I love love apple and everything I own by them but I
feel very frustrated with the appleMusic subscription right now. It’s possible
that I just do not know how to use it. Another thing I can’t seem to find, is
how to just play all songs by a particular artist. I can play an album, but I
can’t figure out how to play all of their songs and albums.

I also cannot find a history anywhere. For example, where is a list of all the
songs I have hearted? I should be able to go through those and edit that list.
I’d also love to just hit a play all button or something to have apple music
play all of the songs that I hearted. Also, if it’s true about the skips
affecting what apple will choose to play for me than I should be able to access
the list of songs that apple assumes I don’t like. I mean, I have even skipped
songs by accident.

Another very frustrating aspect is that there is a family subscription but my
children often cannot find the radio versions of songs but can only find the
explicit versions and they are very frustrated with this. Sometimes we even
hear the radio version played on Beats one but when we try to add that version
to their music library or playlist, those options are not available. I assume
that it is because apple does not have the full licensing rights to it. In
Slacker Radio and Pandora, there is a setting that turns off explicit content.
In slacker Radio, the radio version is played when available, and it usually is
available, in Pandora, I think it blanks out certain words, which is not
preferable but better than nothing. :)

Anyways, those are just a few of my thoughts. I have a lot more but who really
cares about them. LOL! I do want to leave with a positive about apple music
subscription service. So far, the music database is quite excellent. At least,
it matches my music tastes. My music tastes are pretty average and therefore
cannot speak about the less popular genres and artists. I also want to say,
that I really appreciate the budget friendly Family subscription. I am going to
try to keep a positive attitude and give appleMusic a fair chance. I really
want it to work out for us. Plus, why wouldn’t I give it a fair chance, the

Updating to iCloud library took 3 solid days on fast broadband. Since then I've
added about 20 CD's. And now I discover I have lots of duplicated I'm sure
weren't there before, mid-assigned artwork and lots of tracks marked Waiting
which refuse to update even though I've tried everything people here and
elsewhere recommend. There is no way back, as I've added lots of CD's since my
last iTunes backup so I'm thinking of trying iTunes Match instead but not till
apple have made progress with the bugs! Harry

Touch ID

Looking for suggestions. the Touch ID to unlock my iPhone 5s has become very
unpredictable. I've cleaning the home button and washed my hands.

The other piece of the puzzle is that Touch ID works fine in Apps just not to
unlock my phone. I don't understand why it's fine in all other cases other
than unlocking my phone.

Thanks,

Another way you can end the call is by using the two finger double tap
gesture. Now as afar as the controls go have you tried this?
First start a facetime audio call. Then after the person answers if you have
problems accessing the controls try pressing the home button and then double
tap wheir it says touch to resume facetime.

I don’t know if that would help any thing but try that and see if that works.

Re: iPhone 6plus and otterbox

2015-07-13 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,
I can't say what is causing the random reboot sadly but can vouch for the
fact that there were some significant design issues some encountered with
otterbox's offerings for the 6Plus.

Robin

RE: iPhone 6plus and otterbox

2015-07-13 Thread Fazil
I am having problem with Ottar Box too, not the booting up problem but problem
of sensitivity. Specially in the middle, I have to tap the screen very hard. I
think the screen-protector is not surface-to-surface snugly with the screen
but rather there are some air-pockets at places in between.

Hi,
I can't say what is causing the random reboot sadly but can vouch for the fact
that there were some significant design issues some encountered with otterbox's
offerings for the 6Plus. I went with a similar type case called the supcase
unicorn beetle I think it was and it hasn't exhibited the same issues and is at
a slightly lower price point. Note I'm not the sort who puts my phone in high
impact situations that'd threaten its well being so can't say unequivocally
that this case would serve for instance those in construction or rugged outdoor
life well but it's meet my needs quite handily in lieu of the Otterbox this go
around anyway.
Here's hoping your rebooting issues get sorted quickly. Perhaps some
diagnostic runs through apple before you abandon ship or device as it were?
Just a thought.
Good luck with it.
Robin

Re: How do I upload music to AppleMusic?

2015-07-13 Thread Harry Bell
I have lots of tracks still marked as iCloud Status Waiting: I highlighted them
all and pressed VO+shift+M and nothing seemed to happen on my Mac mini. Have I
missed something? Thanks. Harry

 Hi,

 I'm subscribed to AppleMusic.

I have a large number of local artist CDs on my PC in iTunes that I want to
upload to AppleMusic; the local artist CDs are not available on AppleMusic.

How do I upload these albums?

Also, I have a carryover iTunes Match account that I renewed in April, so
I'd like to eventually download from iTunes / AppleMusic any tracks that may
have matched from other CDs in my PC music library that had better quality
 tracks in iTunes.

How can I make these things happen?

 Thanks in advance, Keith
