Re: Chat on my iPodTouch Minus a Bluetooth Headset?

2016-05-26 Thread Dani Pagador
So, just to clarify, I should be able to hook up wired earphones and
use the internal mic for chat? I got this iPod in 2015.

Thanks,
Dani

Re: Fobydo Stand

2016-05-26 Thread Jewel
I have just bought a Fopydo stand and I hope it is as good as its users have
said it is.
It will take some time to arrive, so I cannot describe it, but from what Ican
gather, it holds the camera at the correct distance from the page and holds it
rock steady, whereas your hanbd, when you come to an exciting bit of the page
you are perusing might tremble a little, or a lot, depending on the level of
excitement.
An earthquake will stir it up, but otherwise, the reading stand is immune to
all human emotions!

The last button that says something like switch on off, is the unlabelled start

When you get to the bottom you will notice two switch on type buttons. The last
one is the on/off.
I was also puzzled when I first installed it too.

Re: Group text messaging

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner

I use an free app called A2Z Contacts that allows you to set up groups for
either texting or emailing.
That way you do not have to use the same conversation to send your next text
message.
Note the name of the app uses the digit 2 not the word two.

Good evening all,
Can I use the same iTunes account for my iPod touch5th generation and my
iPhone 6?
A couple of months ago, I was told how to set my iPhone and iPod separately
so, if I put music on mhy iPod it wouldn't go onto my iPhone because I was
running out of space on my phone. What do I need to do to make it so if I
put music or get an app for my iPhone it automatically goes onto my iPod? I
hope I haven't made these questions to confusing. Thank you.

Re: Metronome App

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner

The last button that says something like switch on off, is the unlabelled start
button.
When you get to the bottom you will notice two switch on type buttons. The last
one is the on/off.
I was also puzzled when I first installed it too.

RE: Chat on my iPodTouch Minus a Bluetooth Headset?

2016-05-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The iPod Touch without microphone goes back to the third generation which was
from 2009. Anything after that, 4th Gen, 5th Gen and 6th Gen have an internal
microphone.

I would try a wired headset with microphone. Depending on the generation of

backup and iCloud manual sync

2016-05-26 Thread Regina Alvarado
In response to my question yesterday, checking with some others, I was told to
back up the device with the documents still on it to iCloud and then ask iCloud
to do a backup on the device where the documents were deleted to bring back the
docs on both devices. Where is the manual backup now in 9.31 and how do we ask
for a iCloud sync? I have always had someone do it for me but need to learn so
I can do it. Can someone please answer these 2 questions quickly. My friend
says she has about 2 percent battery and she doesn't want to plug in the device
for fear of losing her docs. Thanks so much for rescuing us.

Re: Question re updating apps

2016-05-26 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Don,

If an app is still showing up in the Updates tab, it's still on your phone. If
you no longer want to use it, delete it as follows:

1. Go to a home screen.

2. Double-tap and hold until VO says, "Moving" followed by an app's name.
You're now in editing mode.

3. Find an app you want to delete, and double-tap. You'll be asked if you want
to delete, and there will be Delete and Cancel buttons.

4. Double-tap Delete. You may need to confirm that you want to delete all data
associated with the app.

Once the app has been deleted, you'll still be in editing mode, so you can
delete as many apps as you like. When you're done, press Home to exit editing
mode.

The apps will still be listed if you choose Updates, then Purchased, then
either All or Not on This iPhone. But they won't show up in the list of apps
with recommended updates.

Best,
Anna

Unless things have changed, it used to work that - if you once sent one gang

there some mechanism whereby I can set up a group message rather than

Chat on my iPodTouch Minus a Bluetooth Headset?

2016-05-26 Thread Dani Pagador
Hi, Everyone.
My school uses the WebEx interface to chat. I have a Bluetooth
headset, but the interface doesn't allow the audio from the chat to
get routed to the headset. I wrote to the school's tech support, and
using the Bluetooth headset isn't an option at this point.

Does the iPodTouch have an onboard mic? Would another option be to
plug in-the-ear headphones in and use the onboard mic, assuming I have
one?

Thanks,

Changing Twitter Handle in native Twitter app

2016-05-26 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

Is there a way to change a twitter handle from within the native twitter app. I
mean the characters following the At symbol.

I sent up an account today, and understood at the time the twitter handle
during setup could be changed later. So far I haven't found a way.

If there isn't a way to change the twitter handle I created, can I just create
a new account and delete the one with the unintended handle?

Thanks, Keith.

Group text messaging

2016-05-26 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I sometimes need to send the same text message simultaneously to several
family members. Typically, after opening messages and selecting each
recipient from contacts, I type the message and then click send. Is
there some mechanism whereby I can set up a group message rather than
having to select each recipient individually? Incidentally, the IOS
version is 9.3.2.

Thanks.

Don Roberts

RE: Metronome App

2016-05-26 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Thanks. When I do that, and I sneak just above the Home Button, and double tap,
all I get is Disable Auto Lock or Off button. Double tapping other places on
the screen give me nothing, unless it's listed as a button such as meter
indication. Still stumped. Keith

RE: Metronome App

2016-05-26 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
OK.

I'm embarrassed to ask this. How does one start the thing?

I have it installed on my iPhone 6 running 9.3.2.

I flick through it and can adjust tempo and change meter, but I haven't found a
way that gets it started.

I have been having some intermittent problems with this phone where the screen
seems to go numb to taps and other gestures at times, so that may be that's the
issue, but I cannot establish that as the cause at this point.

Thanks for any help.

Keith

Thanks Chris and Karla,

That information helps a lot.
I may have to try them one of these days.
I really like the idea of easily being able to switch between my iPhone and

I'm a 7 and 3/8 hat and find the Trekz to be more comfortable than the Bluez
II.
I mean, they're not a perfect fit per say, but in comparison to the prior
model, they're much lighter, thinner and have more give. With the Trekz, I can
have them on for extended periods of time and not get a headache. The Bluez
II where terrible at this. Especially if I tried using them while on the bike
or elliptical for example.

RE: Bone Conduction Headsets

2016-05-26 Thread Cristóbal
I'm a 7 and 3/8 hat and find the Trekz to be more comfortable than the Bluez
II.
I mean, they're not a perfect fit per say, but in comparison to the prior
model, they're much lighter, thinner and have more give. With the Trekz, I can
have them on for extended periods of time and not get a headache. The Bluez
II where terrible at this. Especially if I tried using them while on the bike
or elliptical for example.

Hi Richard,
They are much more bendy so fit better in my opinion.
Hope this helps,

Carla.

Aftershokz seems to be what people use. I have never tried it, but I doubt

yes, I am referring to bard raille books.

I can’t figure out as I look for page number and nothing and I left bard.

I am much happier with read2go from bookshare.org

Rich,

Are you talking about BARD Braille books?

They should have page numbers, that would surprise me if they didn’t, though
you probably can’t navigate by page, but I have not read a braille book with
BARD.

Audio books from most sources never have page numbers. The only source I know
of with human read audio books that includes page numbers is Learning Ally.
But they are focused on school text books or books for classes where having
page numbers is critical.

Voice Dream Reader will not read any "DRM" books. DRM stands for Digital Rights
Management, which all books made for a particular group use. So, for NLS you
can only use the BARD app, for iBooks the iBooks app, for Kindle, the Kindle
app, for Barnes and Noble the NOOK app, etc.

The one exception in that list is the Kindle books can be converted to ePub
format through the use of a software package call Codex on Windows computers,
then that file can be read by Voice Dream Reader.

Thanks Anna,

I knew someone like yourself would know the answer.

I need to make myself read more in braille.

Of course, I need to do lots of things, but as Willy Wanka says, “So much time

You can navigate by page in braille books, and you can set bookmarks in both
braille and audio books. You can also search braille files.

Hi Richard and all,

You can navigate by page in braille books, and you can set bookmarks in both
braille and audio books. You can also search braille files.

Best,

RE: Fobydo Stand

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner
Deidre,

The Fopydo Stand by itself takes up no more desk space than a piece of 8.5 by
11 inch paper. Well, maybe a half inch more, but that is all.

The book reading aid takes more room, but to insure good height and steady
phone, the Fopydo Stand is great.

I just went to the Fobydo site to read about the construction
of the stand. It will tell you all you need to know and do. The stand is way
more than I want. I am already out of my mind with computer related equipment,
which is why I love my phone. All I want is something streamlined that will
simply hold a page or paper down and hold the camera above it, as perhaps on a
slim wire frame. Even a clipboard for papers could do for single sheets of
paper.I'm getting pretty good accuracy with fairly predictable laid
out texts so I am not too worried about accuracy at this point just holding the
phone and not even having the papers always on a level surface or dark
background. I haven't needed a light source either other than the built in
flash. I have something in my kitchen that I think can do the job: It's a wire
frame to an old hand mashing fruit funnel shaped mill that is a good height!

I suppose if someone has a nice work station and plenty of room
to have the Fobydo stand always at the ready, that would be great.

RE: Can you play a mp3 book on Voice Dream Reader?

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner
Russ,

I just want to make it very clear that I’m not arguing with you, just focused
on Ed’s original question, which is what I’ve focused my responses on, was
about a link to a zipped mp3 book from someone and all he had to do was
double-tap-and-hold on the link and open it in Voice Dream Reader.

That was my whole and only point. No time spent saving a file somewhere and
then doing whatever else method you want to use, just open it right into Voice
Dream Reader and let it download it, etc.

This wasn’t about attachments, just using the link provided.

Of course you can’t send a large file …

Sorry if my focus on Ed’s question got out of hand.

Right, but it is so much easier to double tap and hold on the link to the zip
file in an Email and just open it right into Voice Dream Reader.

Then you never have to save the file on your computer and deal with iTunes.

For anyone that updated to iTunes 12, this is far easier since iTunes 12 has
made using file sharing stupidly difficult.

Just my opinion.

Russ,

You do not have to use iTunes file sharing, but that is one option, frankly
made ridiculously difficult in iTunes 12.

The Open In, or DropBox are much easier and more direct.

Yes you can; the process for getting the book into VDR would be First upload
the book to Dropbox, which you must have on your PC and then on your phone;
once there, go into VDR and where it says Add, and from there Dropbox; Search
in your Dropbox on your phone, double-tap on the book which must be zipped in
order for voiceDream to transfer it into the app, and wait until VoiceDream
says the book is ready.

Mark,
Thanks ever so much for the app recommendation. I've been wanting an
app like this that would notify me from a hash tag for awhile now.
This will come in handy for the local bus company when they send out
bus route changes or delays and use a hash tag on each alert. I can
also think of other uses.

Re: Can you play a mp3 book on Voice Dream Reader?

2016-05-26 Thread Russ Kiehne
I don’t think I can send a 600mb file by email! I do what you said when I sent
epub books to my separate email address I have for my ipad and ipod touch.

Yes you can; the process for getting the book into VDR would be First upload
the book to Dropbox, which you must have on your PC and then on your phone;
once there, go into VDR and where it says Add, and from there Dropbox; Search
in your Dropbox on your phone, double-tap on the book which must be zipped in
order for voiceDream to transfer it into the app, and wait until VoiceDream
says the book is ready.

Re: NLS books

2016-05-26 Thread Chris Chaffin

Remember, BARD books are audio books, and therefore, page numbers are not
usually announced.
But as stated in another message, when you stop a book, you will be able to
resume at the same spot when you start the BARD app the next time. Actually,
BARD will remember where you stopped in as many books as you have downloaded to
the app.
In addition, you can also add as many bookmarks as you want to a book, then
jump from one bookmark to the next if needed.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Voice Dream Reader will not read any "DRM" books. DRM stands for Digital Rights
Management, which all books made for a particular group use. So, for NLS you
can only use the BARD app, for iBooks the iBooks app, for Kindle, the Kindle

The one exception in that list is the Kindle books can be converted to ePub
format through the use of a software package call Codex on Windows computers,
then that file can be read by Voice Dream Reader.

It is a very clean, simple metronome. Here is the link to make things easier:

Re: Can you play a mp3 book on Voice Dream Reader?

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner

Right, but it is so much easier to double tap and hold on the link to the zip
file in an Email and just open it right into Voice Dream Reader.
Then you never have to save the file on your computer and deal with iTunes.
For anyone that updated to iTunes 12, this is far easier since iTunes 12 has
made using file sharing stupidly difficult.
Just my opinion.

Re: NLS books

2016-05-26 Thread Richard Turner

Voice Dream Reader will not read any "DRM" books. DRM stands for Digital Rights
Management, which all books made for a particular group use. So, for NLS you
can only use the BARD app, for iBooks the iBooks app, for Kindle, the Kindle
app, for Barnes and Noble the NOOK app, etc.
The one exception in that list is the Kindle books can be converted to ePub
format through the use of a software package call Codex on Windows computers,
then that file can be read by Voice Dream Reader.

You are correctt, you can use dropbox. The thing is, I have large zip files
and it will take a long time using dropbox. File sharing is a lot faster.
This is why when the open in option is accessible with the Leef Ibridge flash

Russ,

You do not have to use iTunes file sharing, but that is one option, frankly
made ridiculously difficult in iTunes 12.

The Open In, or DropBox are much easier and more direct.

Yes you can; the process for getting the book into VDR would be First upload
the book to Dropbox, which you must have on your PC and then on your phone;
once there, go into VDR and where it says Add, and from there Dropbox; Search
in your Dropbox on your phone, double-tap on the book which must be zipped in
order for voiceDream to transfer it into the app, and wait until VoiceDream
says the book is ready.

Re: question virus on mac java

2016-05-26 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Gianni,

MacKeeper invents viruses that don’t actually exist. There are utilities such
as Mac App Cleaner that will get rid of MacKeeper completely and everything
should return to normal.
The only virus scanner I use on my Mac is ClamXAV and only to scan files I
share with Windows users. I’ve had Macs for 20 years and never encountered a
virus.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Standscan, Fopydo Book Reading Aid, ScanJig Pro Plus?

2016-05-26 Thread Anne Robertson
The Fopydo book-reading aid does a great job of keeping a book open and you’re
not obliged to use KNFBReader for scanning if your book has a complex layout.
I’ve scanned books with complex medical and scientific language using the
Fopydo with excellent results.

Anne

RE: Best twitter client

2016-05-26 Thread M. Taylor
Annie,

If for no other reason than to have direct access to Twitter Moments, the most
exciting feature to come to Twitter in many years, I would suggest that you
explore the Native Twitter app, first.

To say that it is the best app is probably not warranted for many reasons not
the least of which being that many third-party apps offer enhanced feature sets
that you may enjoy using. Be that as it may, were I only to use one Twitter
app, I would use the native iOS Twitter app.

However, as it stands, I am a big fan of Twitterific and, more recently, Tag
Stalker. There are several others in the family that prefer Tweetings.

If you think about it, there is absolutely no reason why you cannot install
several Twitter apps on your device and use them in varying ways for various
reasons.

The most important thing is to join Twitter and take part in the global
conversation.

My Twitter name is @markmarcus

I look forward to seeing you on Twitter.

Mark

RE: tv guide app

2016-05-26 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Amy,

I can assure you that the TV Guide Mobile app does, indeed, display and,
consequently, VoiceOver does announce both the call letters and channel number
in the channel listings table. For example, VoiceOver might say, "KCBS, 2" or
"CNN, 38".

Make certain that you have the correct app and that you have the Listings tab
selected.

Mark

Hi Mark.

One question. Does the tv guide mobile app support push notifications on a
program by program basis?

Can I tell it to notify me in advance when the next show I am interested in
watching is on?

Don

RE: Standscan, Fopydo Book Reading Aid, ScanJig Pro Plus?

2016-05-26 Thread Fazil
Hi, Richard.

I have my Fopydo Stand with Book Reading but it is still in the bag because I
don’t know how to put it together or assemble it, any help?

Thanks!

In my opinion, the Fopydo Stand with Book Reading Aid is the best bet for books.

The ScanJig Pro Plus can be used with books, but it won't help you keep the
pages open the way the Fopydo system does.

Re: Issue With Latest Trivia Crack Update

2016-05-26 Thread Kevin Thompson
It's good to know it's not just me. I'm having that same ridiculous issue. It
seems like every time trivia crack rights itself, a new update comes down the
line and screws things up again. Closing and restarting the app is a bit of a
hassle, but at least it's a work around. I just hope they figure out a way to
fix this issue soon.
