Re: typing on ipad mini

2017-03-10 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
The SpeedDots overlays help for getting the letters accurately. I think I use
touch typing, the one where the letter registers
when you take your finger off. It's still not perfect, needs a steady hand.
Siri, or dictation has great mileage out and about, so
long as environment isn't too noisy. Worth correcting input too, as I still
find dictation not bril' at punctuating into something
readable. I wonder if small bluetooth keypads of any kind would have mileage
in this situation. I'm yet to hear of a small,
bluetooth braille keypad yet, and can't understand why not. If there is, I bet
it costs $$$s. No need for it to, it just would.

Subject: typing on ipad mini

Hello,
I have had my ipad mini 4 for a little over a year. I would like
to get an iphone Se, but I can't seem to type without making tons
of errors on the ipad. I have a Brailliant Bi 32 that I use for
texting and any other typing task, but there may be times when I
will not have my Brailliant available, especially when I'm out in
public and need to text someone quickly. I have touch typing
enabled. I tried using the split tap method on standard typing,
but I cannot seem to get the hang of the split tap. Therefore,
if anyone has any tips on how to get more accurate with touch
typing, please feel free to share or write me offlist.
Thank you,
Kelsey Nicolay

speeddots protector description needed

2017-03-10 Thread Nancy

Once again, thanks to everyone who replied to my initial question!

I have done some reading on site and it sounds like if you have an SE
with an Otterbox Defender case that the screen protector is cut to fit
right on the Otterbox clad SE. Do you know if there would be a big
difference in the one sized for the otterbox and SE and the one just for
the SE?

Also, will someone please tell me about the one with all the dots; is it
just like the one without the typing dots except without those extra dots?

I am trying to envision the way the dots would look...is it set up just
like the qwerty keys with those dots about the size of little pin heads,
or how does that work?Is it possible just to speak what you want to send
without needing all those extra dots, or are the keyboard keys extra
good for email replys or messages?

At this point I am just using the SE to make and receive calls and as
far as I know things are going well, but I am about ready to stretch my
SE horizon.

Thanks so much for your time and patience with me.

Re: anti virus

2017-03-10 Thread Ryan Mann
There is no need for anti-virus programs on an iPhone. As long as you don't
jail break your phone, you can only get apps from the App store and obviously
Apple wouldn't let viruses into their app store. If you don't know what jail
breaking is then you won't do it.

shopping with shipt

2017-03-10 Thread Larry Lumpkin
I'd like to share some information about Shipt. If you can use the service,
the IOS app works very well with the exception of being able to scroll the
screen down through your buy-again items. If you exit voice over use your
3-finger swipe up or down, and then re-enable voice over, it will work. If
you have JAWS 18's latest update, the chrome browser works very
well on the web page. Ship tells me that the web site is optimized for
chrome and jaws's latest update makes chrome a lot better.

Re: Siri not spelling some words

2017-03-10 Thread Ryan Mann
I turned off VoiceOver and Siri spelled every word that I tried. I
would have never thought that VoiceOver would affect that.
Thanks.

Weirdest iTunes issue ever.

2017-03-10 Thread James Homuth
I'm not entirely sure when this started, but I finally had time to attempt
to diagnose it this morning. when I plug my iPhone 7 into my PC to
charge/sync, iTunes will come up, then hang at the syncing process for
several minutes. Sometimes the sync will finish, other times it will insist
the sync couldn't finish for reasons known only to iTunes (the only error I
get is the sync session failed to finish). It *looks* like all my apps and
everything are there, but of course given how unreliable it's been I may be
missing something and haven't the slightest idea.

Very probably related to this, I have iTunes backing up my phone when it
syncs. I find it more reliable doing that than allowing iCloud, given that
iCloud has been known to neglect to give me back some of my data. iTunes
looks like it's successfully backing up my phone, and the backups even
appear in the backup folder as they should, but iTunes insists my phone has
never been backed up.

I've already reinstalled (well, actually, updated) iTunes, and am now
running latest 12.5. I'm running latest stable iOS on this phone. I've moved
my backup folder to an alternate location, deleted the original, and allowed
iTunes to recreate it. Still having the same issue. On top of that, iTunes
hangs for several minutes when I bring up device preferences. I can do
pretty much anything else I please, but as soon as I go into device
preferences, instant hang. It corrects itself and I can be on my way, but
that tells me we've got problems. I've hit a wall, so other than spending
500 years on hold with Apple I'm hoping someone's got an idea I haven't yet
tried. If you do, that's awesome. If you don't, well, I didn't have plans
this weekend anyway.

Re: Native maps question?

2017-03-10 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Mark,

The strange thing is that I can flick up on an entry and choose remove. Despite
deleting all iCloud backups they will reappear for no obvious reason.

Thanks.

Malcolm.
