Re: OCR

2017-08-31 Thread Nancy Badger
Hello,
For OCR, I use Abby fine reader. I asked the question about printers and
scanners a while ago. People told me that the HP scanners and printers worked
well. I chose an all-in-one, model 8710. I know the model number starts with
87. I am guessing at the last two numbers. My scanner is at work and I can't
look at it right now.

Clarification Re Duolingo Plus, Anyone?

2017-08-31 Thread Christine Grassman
Hello again all. In my earlier post, I indicated that I was having trouble with
Duolingo Plus, which is a paid add-on to basic Duolingo. The free app is quite
accessible on both the Mac and iPhone, with some minimal frustrating
exceptions. (On the Mac, for example, I cannot for the life of me figure out
how to replay spoken words and phrases, whereas replay is readily available on
the iPhone. On the other hand, I cannot open new lessons on the iPhone, but I
can practice after working the lessons on the Mac.) My frustration is with my
inability to download lessons, which one can apparently only do with a mobile
device. I am not getting the “Download skill” option described on the site’s
instructions for DuoLingo Plus.

Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone

2017-08-31 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

Does anyone know what I mean, when I ask about a device where you can
somehow skip going through iTunes, and you can transfer stuff?

I don't know if you hook it up to your computer, or not. But I would
think so.

I believe when it was discussed way long ago, it was mentioned that it
was about 40 dollars.

If anybody has any ideas, pleas share them.

Thank you,

Terri

I for one, will be giving it about a week or so, to find out, about all the

I have been getting a notice on my phone alerting me to a Trojan virus I
picked up when on a web site. It wants me to instal a particular App Store
security scrubber then advises I update to the latest IOS.
This note appears to come from Apple and leads me to the application
it recommends I instal and run. It sounds like the kind of virus
protection

you run on a desktop computer and I didn't think this was necessary on a
phone.
Can anyone tell me of any similar situation they have encountered?

Hello, yes! It's that time of the year we're all been waiting for, not only the
hardware announcements but software and service ones as well, like when iOS 11,
macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4 and tvOS 11 will be released etc etc. These should
all be announced at the event. September 12 can't come quick enough .

You also have to watch out for emails that apparently say they're from Apple

Everybody needs to watch out for this one, because I'm sure if you click on

I kind of had a similar situation. I was on the iMore website
checking the news and I opened Safari there was a popup that said your iPod
touch is 28% damaged by a virus. I don’t remember exactly what it said.

This sounds like a total scam. If it were from Apple, you would be taken to the
App Store, not a web site. But in all cases like this, call Apple. It is the
only way to be absolutely certain, but I'm 99 percent sure this is a phishing
attempt that would end very badly.
Apple also wants to know about these kinds of attempts, so please call them.
You can call Apple Accessibility to get through to a human more directly.

Trojan virus

2017-08-31 Thread deidre muccio
I have been getting a notice on my phone alerting me to a Trojan virus I
picked up when on a web site. It wants me to instal a particular App Store
security scrubber then advises I update to the latest IOS.
This note appears to come from Apple and leads me to the application
it recommends I instal and run. It sounds like the kind of virus protection
you run on a desktop computer and I didn't think this was necessary on a
phone.
Can anyone tell me of any similar situation they have encountered?

Re: Crafting kingdom question

2017-08-31 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi. Regarding the focus issues, that often happens in this game. Or,
It will happen when I touch the screen or try to swipe and then my
focus will jump to something else. It is a known issue. Regarding the
amount of coal or iron ore getting too much when producing metals,
this frequently happens for me. I have had quests for getting a
certain amount of coal or a certain amount of iron ore. I try to
balance this, especially since coal produces a lot quicker than iron
ore, by having more slots for iron ore. Regarding a guide, I'm not
aware of one but perhaps a Google search is in order. Also, though
there have been a lot of posts in the forums on the game, check
AppleVis for some good tips. They have a forum topic with over 650
comments for the game, which is called something like, "Help us
improve accessibility of our game Crafting Kingdom." Regarding the
boosts, I haven't heard of these either. A few versions ago they did
give players the ability to do a $5 in-app purchase to unlock the
boosts. Before this one had to watch videos to get boosts. I love this
game and have been playing it for over 3.5 months.

So is it completely accessible on the mac and just not accessible on
the IPhone? This kind of sucks, I was really thinking about giving
this a try myself, but maybe the app devs would be willing to work on
accessibility. I can remember playing around with the basic version of
the app months ago and it was accessible a bit.
