RE: Issue with the latest GoodReads app and item counts

2018-02-26 Thread M. Taylor
Hello,

This app is basically a way for one to keep track of one's book collection and
to discover new books. Generally speaking, Good Reads is not a book buying
service.

Mark,
Thanks for all your help on this annoying issue. I followed the procedure you
described in going to the My Books tab of the app. I am however happy to say
that the issue appears to be back to normal. I went to the GoodReads app
several times yesterday and the item counts were successfully showing the right
updated numbers. I finished a couple of books yesterday and the new counts were
showing what they should have been showing. So, my annoying issue with the item
counts appears to be resolved. Perhaps it was something on the GoodReads end,
or it just took longer than normal for things to update. Whatever the case, all
is good now. Good to know that GoodReads is responsive to accessibility issues
if I need to contact them in the future.

Getting Voiceover to read continuously is actually not necessary, as long as
you can unlock your phone pressing the volume up button will do the trick. Just
make sure you press it, let go, press it, let go etc. Pressing and holding it
will not raise the volume, you have to press it like 10 or 12 times.

going passed a very low volume. Your tip worked beautifully.

Hi Vivian,

Please try the following:
One. Navigate over to your home screen. Then, be sure to unplug your headphones.
Two. Flick or swipe up with two fingers to make VoiceOver start reading all the
elements on the screen.
Three now, start pushing the volume up button and you should slowly start to
hear the voice reading the elements and that should fix your issue.
Hope that helps.

Shutting down the phone and powering back up.

Re: A Quick Primmer to the iOS Starbucks App

Hi Mark,
I have a couple of questions.
1. How do you enter codes from packages of coffee that you have bought from
Starbucks? I have also heard that you can only enter two codes per day.

2. What do you mean by,
While you can create and save a ApplePay Pass for easy access when paying,
the features work best when you use the bar code payment display from within
the app, itself. This is completely VoiceOver accessible.
I do not understand.

3. In my settings it says something like messages are off. What is that
and does it have to do with my inbox and should I turn it on?

I have a couple more questions and if it would be okay with you, maybe it
would be better to take this off list. My email is at the bottom of the
message. I promise not to be a pest and will pick up on things rapidly.
Thanks much for any help.

Subject: A Quick Primmer to the iOS Starbucks App

Hello All,

Please keep the following in mind when using the iOS Starbucks app with
VoiceOver:

1.
You can use ApplePay to Reload your Starbucks Account.

2.
While you can create and save a ApplePay Pass for easy access when paying,
the features work best when you use the bar code payment display from within
the app, itself. This is completely VoiceOver accessible.

3.
The way to earn rewards is to accrue Stars.

4.
You earn two Stars for every, one, dollar you spend. However, this is the
most basic way and is not the best method of accruing Stars.

5.
It takes 125 Stars in order to receive a free item.

6.
Upon launching the app, you will discover a rewards area. This area will
always display your currently running rewards offer. This is the most
important area of the app for this is the area where you can find out what
you need to do to earn more stars with less money. For example, last week,
I received an offer that if I purchased only one item, I would receive 125
bonus Stars in addition to my normal Stars. So, I bought a drink for $3 and
instead of earning only 6 Stars, I received 131 Stars.

7.
You only get one offer per week. So, once you complete your offer, you must
wait until you receive your next offer.

8.
Some offers involve multiple purchases. For example, I received one offer
that gave me 50 Stars for every item I purchased up to 6 items. Please keep
in mind that an item means 1 registry transaction. So, Were I to purchase
two cups of coffee on the same receipt, it would count as one item. So, if
I want to purchase two items, one for me and one for a friend, and assuming
I want Star credit for each item, I would have to have the barista ring up
each drink, separately.

9.
You must manually activate an offer before you purchase, in order to earn
its associated Stars. This is the only area of the app that is not
VoiceOver accessible. No problem, however, for, at the time of purchase,
simply disable VoiceOver and have the barista touch the "Start Offer Now,"
button. The barista only need do this once, per offer. Once the offer is
started, it will remain in effect, until it ends and VoiceOver will read the
status of the offer and the number of days left in the offer and whether or
not you have completed the offer.

10.
The next area of the screen is a preview of your Inbox. Sometimes, you will
receive very important notices and even more offers. For example,
yesterday, I received an email informing me that this is a double Star
weekend. So, yesterday, I purchased an item for $4 but received 16 Stars.
Last week, I received a message in my Inbox that told me that should I
reload my account with at least $10, I would receive 100 bonus Stars. It's
pretty amazing. You know, I have some sighted friends who have had the
Starbucks app for years and yet have never gotten any free items because
they fail to activate their reward offers or read the messages in their
app-inbox. (smile)

11.
Keep in mind that when you start out, you are at Green level. You must earn
300 Stars in order to be promoted to Gold level. Once you are at gold
level, then you begin receiving free items for every 125 Stars earned. In
my case, I went from 0 Stars to 450 Stars in less than one week with only
$12 in purchases because I took advantage of reward offers. Mind you, I
would have spent the $12, anyway so why not take advantage of the free
rewards?

12.
Once you acquire Gold Status, it will remain active for 1 year. The app
will tell you how many stars you need in order to either achieve or extend
your Gold Status. In my case, even though I have spent only $24, my gold
Status has been extended to the middle of 2020. (smile)

13.
When you earn bonus Stars, it can take up to 24 hours before they appear in
your app.

weight watchers mobile

2018-02-26 Thread Rizzino, Bonnie
Hi,
Does anyone know if the current weight watchers mobile app is accessible on an
iPhone using the latest iOS and voiceover? Double tapping on the buttons
doesn't seem to activate them. Can't get a straight answer from tech support at
weight watchers. I looked at applevis and saw posts that weren't that recent.

Thank you.

Agreed in all particulars, but play this in my head and don't bother with the

Im assuming that the name of this app may be Words from words a blindfold game.
It seems far fetched to find 1,500 using the given
letters but if 3 letter acronyms & abbreviations are used it may be possible.

Problem sending document from email to whatsapp

2018-02-26 Thread TaraPrakash
Dear all.
I am trying to share a file on whatsapp from an email and it is not working for
me. File size is not an issue at all. It is an xl file and once I also tried
doc file. I have myself received xlx format files on whatsapp so the suggestion
that only pdf files can be sent is not correct. This is what I am doing to
share the file.
I have received a file as email attachment, I am double tapping the file.
Double tapping "share" towards the bottom of the screen. Choosing whatsapp from
the list. Choosing the

Contact from the list and then sending the file. There is no error or any
message but no sign of the file either. The contact is not receiving the file.
Is it possible that file sharing using whatsapp app for IOS does not work while
sending to whatsapp app for android?
any suggestion will be extremely helpful.

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks!
It really is.
The last update of Windows 10, 1709, advertised that Narrator would have this
ability in that version of Windows!
Pretty awesome.

You sure can know if you are in the video.
After you take your picture, turn on Narrator.
After Narrator, focus on the picture file, and press shift+caps lock+D.
Narrator will use an on line service to describe the picture enough to know
that you are in the picture.
It told me something like:
One person, a man, close up with dark hair.
Only Narrator, built in Windows 10 does this.

I am completely blind. Is it possible to take a video and know whether you are
capturing yourself in the video with the iPhone?
