Re: Greeting for Voicemail question.

2020-01-06 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi,
I replied to you on the other list but I will also see it here. If you years
the EarPods that came with your phone, you can plug them in and then record
your greeting. You will not hear the word stop after the grading is finished.
Hope this helps,

RE: Phone Starts Slow-ly

2020-01-06 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Steve, et al;

I can honestly say that I have not experienced the delay / lag time, described
in Steve's original post to this thread, on my 8 Plus running the latest
version of iOS 13.

Regardless of whether the phone is plugged into an A/C adapter or not, it runs
flawlessly at start-up, with VoiceOver enabled.

My phone has 256GB capacity.

There could be several reasons for the lag time, for example, you could be
running low on disc space, or you could be having problems connecting to your
local WiFi.

Were you to take the device to an Apple Store, the first thing they would
recommend is that you install a fresh copy of the OS on the phone. So, if you
have the means, you might want to give that a try. It is possible that the
flash drive is starting to fail. While rare, such things can and do happen to
flash drives.

If your device is under warranty, I strongly recommend that you take it to an
Apple Store for a hardware analysis before the warranty expires.

I recently updated to iOS 13.3 on an 8 Plus, and I'm noticing a behavior I
can't fathom and don't like. Immediately upon iOS startup, the phone is
incredibly sluggish. I mean really low, like even slower than my 4s was! But
after about five minutes or so, that sluggishness goes away and the phone
operates at normal iOS 13.3 speed. Or should that be normal 8 Plus speed?
Either way, the sluggish operation happens each and every time I restart the
phone. Has anyone else experienced this and solved it? If so, how'd you do it?

RE: Questions regarding audio game hub 2

2020-01-06 Thread David Moore
Yes, I have had the same problems accessing the boxes on the Audio Game Hub app!
It tells what my finger is on sometimes, but other times it doesn’t I
uninstalled it a couple of months ago, because it was not consistent for me to
use!
I hope that others can clear up how to use this app, and hopefully, there have
been improvements!
I look forward to hearing your input!

Subject: Questions regarding audio game hub 2

Hello everyone,

I just recently installed the Audio game hub, 2, App on my phone. I think I may
have installed it before, quite a while back. But back then I wasn’t as
interested in it as I am now.

Anyway, I have been attempting to play 2 different games I found there, memory,
and blocks. I enjoy them both.

However, I don’t really get how to see all of what is on the screen. Or maybe
it is the layout of the screen I am not getting? I am not exactly sure.

With the memory game, you start out with so many boxes. Lets say, 6. You have
to find the matching boxes, which contain animals.
However, I sometimes just can’t figure out how all the boxes are supposedly
layed out. It’s frustrating me.

Does anyone else use this App?
If so, what kind of luck have you had with the games?
I have read tutorials for both games. I understand how to play. I just don’t
understand how to see all the boxes, or get back and forth between them.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

RE: Question about battery life.

2020-01-06 Thread Carolyn
I got it at Wal-Mart/AT It is a 30-month contract. I can pay the phone off
early, but I'm not sure, probably would have to stay with contract. My payment
is $69.03 a month, then, of course, there will be taxes and fees, so I'm
thinking like $80. Still, to get an 11, I think I did as well as I could. They
didn't have any XR's.But Consumer Cellular sold them for $600.

Hi,
Yes, but I enjoy the speaker more, because I can still have the somewhat
private setting of a speaker without the bulkiness of a headset.
That’s why I like the wearable neck speaker, you can get the big loud sound of
a speaker without cancelling out what’s around you, and it’s still somewhat
private because it’s around your neck.
I’m sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain, lol. The neck speaker I use (or used
to use before iOS 13 messed it up) it’s kind of a cross between a headset and a
speaker system. Applevis has a review of it, it’s the Bose SoundWear companion.

Apple Music Question

2020-01-06 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
I have an annoying problem with the Apple Music app and I wonder if there’s a
simple work-around. When I look at my library I can find listings by artist,
album, song, et cetera and double-tap something to view a track listing and
play a selected song. However, when I go into the For You Tab and attempt to
bring up a track list for an album, I get thrown into the Browse Tab. Has
anybody else noticed this and is the a work-around? I’m using IOS 13.3.

Thanks,
Tom

Greeting for Voicemail question.

2020-01-06 Thread Carolyn
When I set my greeting on my new phone, I can't get it in
without the word Stop recording before the beginning of the
greeting, as Stop is there for me to press when through with
greeting. Anyone have any idea how to work around? Also I
had to enter a six-number pass code. Will I have to use that
every time I check Voicemail? Thanks for any help.

Hi,

You are incorrect. There are lots of iOS apps that are just for iPhones, and

Re: The bluetooth issue people are experiencing, it's not just bose

2020-01-06 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
Yes, but I enjoy the speaker more, because I can still have the somewhat
private setting of a speaker without the bulkiness of a headset.
That’s why I like the wearable neck speaker, you can get the big loud
sound of a speaker without cancelling out what’s around you, and
it’s still somewhat private because it’s around your neck.
I’m sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain, lol. The neck speaker I use
(or used to use before iOS 13 messed it up) it’s kind of a cross
between a headset and a speaker system. Applevis has a review of it,
it’s the Bose SoundWear companion.

Hi,
I know I’ve argued this point on this and other lists many times.
But what I’m about to tell you just feeds my argument.
Anyway, last month, I purchased a Tribit Storm Box BT speaker on
Amazon, which works perfectly, how it should, speech and sounds and
music coming out of it instead of the phone’s speaker.
For Christmas, I received the Tribit X-Sound Go (which I asked for as
a smaller option to the storm box, thinking oh, it will work, having
speech, audio, and sound coming out of it instead of the phone’s
speaker.) Darn if I didn’t pair it today, and it acts JUST like the
bose soundlink micro and the Bose soundwear, with speech coming out of
the phone (blah) and music (if I happen to be using the speaker for
music and not just games like I often do) coming through the speaker.
So I don’t think the problem is bose or even high end speakers,
because this xSound Go cost $29, and the storm box (the one that works
right) cost $45. So I’m curious what the bose speakers, the
SoundBlaster Roar, The Pocket Kick, and now the Tribit XSound Go all
have in common that the other Tribit Storm Box, the UE Boom, the
Oraolo go, and the Zulu audio don’t have. I’m very confused,
because there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why some
speakers behave properly (storm box, etc.) and some don’t (bose, SB
Roar, X Sound Go, etc). under iOS 13. Curiouser and curiouser.
I will let apple know, and I will also contact Tribit to see if
there’s a firmware update.
I know some of you guys like VO and system sounds coming through the
phone’s speaker, but quite frankly, I can’t stand it. I have a
really hard time hearing VO, because when a BT speaker is connected,
you lose the ability to adjust VO volume, my rotor’s already at 100
percent. And I don’t know, I just don’t feel like restarting my
device 5 6 and 7 times a day or more is very healthy, just to be able
to play my games or whatever through a BT speaker.

Anyway, those are my observations, take them as you will. :)

RE: External drives and iPhones, was about Document 7

2020-01-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you have a USB drive which works then why not just use it and not worry
about trying every other drive you may have.
4Gb should be plenty big enough even for the biggest audio book and certainly
plenty big enough for text based books.

That’s a good idea, those who use drives of any sort successfully with an
iPhone should specify the exact make and model as well as exactly which adapter
they use.
As I said, on my iPhone 8 even my at least 3 or 4 year old Kingston
DataTraveller 2.0 drive with an 8Gb capacity is giving me the message that it
requires too much power.
Why a less than 32Gb drive should require less power than a 64Gb or 128Gb to me
makes no sense and “thumb drive” or “flashdrive” is semantics because both use
solid stage storage technology and the word “thumb drive” I think strictly
refers to what traditionally was a drive about the size of a thumb. Of course
nowadays you can get drives in all sorts of shapes from hearts to bullets and
some more traditional ones which are half the size of your pinky finger so
maybe we should call them “half pinky drives”.

I've started a new thread in hopes to get the thread accurately matching the
subject.
I would appreciate it if people would say exactly what kind of, and size of, a
drive they are talking about.
When I read "Thumb Drive" I'm thinking less than 32 GB.
When I read "Flash Drive" that could be several gigabytes.
I would be shocked if any iPhone could handle a multi-gigabyte drive.
But nothing will be cleared up unless folks are specific about the drives they
use successfully, or fail to be able to use.
Thanks,

RE: How to change the order in which options appear while sharing something on your iPhone

2020-01-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, you can change the order of the apps, just find the "More" and you may
have to find an Edit button, can't remember, but then you can see other apps
you can add and you can rearrange the order in that same screen.

Thanks Sieghard. So, I assume you cannot remove the list of people you texted
recently but can you change the order of the apps that is listed after the
contacts? What is the list based on anyway? May be that can suggest some way?

2020-01-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Why not buy it from the Apple Store direct, it will cost the same and you still
get free shipping.
Have you tried and plugged your USB drive directly into your iPad instead of
through the hub?
Also, I assume you are using a USB flashdrive and not an external traditional
hard drive with platters since I assume they will indeed require too much power
even for an iPad.

With the Apple USB camera kit I have, one end plugs into the lightning port on
your phone. The other end has both a USB port and a lightning port. You plug
the thumb drive into the USB port. You plug the phone charging chord into the
lightning port.

I also would like to know what Ryan means by plugging the camera adapter into

Having said this, I just tried my Apple Camera adapter with a 2 TB Seagate USB
drive which on a laptop certainly does not need or can be plugged into any
power source and it did not work and neither did it work when I tried an older
Kingston DataTraveller 2.0 USb drive with an 8Gb capacity.
The DataTraveller was even identified correctly, e.g. “Could not use USB
accessory DataTraveller 2.0”
My iPhone 8 was charged to 93% and the result was the same when I plugged in
the USB drive while my iPhone was on it’s wireless charging mat.

Hello list
I got an iPad mini 5 and after the setup all the apps from my iPhone show on
various pages but I am not sure what some explanations mean. For example, the
Audio Bible icon says "audio Bible waiting, double tap to open" but when I
double tap nothing happens. The audio memos icon says "audio memos loading in

Other apps start to download but no progress after 1 percent. On my pc with the
same wifi network I can download emails and other files. Can someone please
explain?

Podcast audio editing apps?

2020-01-06 Thread Matt Gilman
I have been thinking about starting a podcast. I have been doing some research
and I have figured out how to record the audio but I can't find any accessible
editing software.. I am not opposed to buying software but I would really like
to mess around for a while before I invest money especially since I am not 100
percent sure that I want to do this. I would also prefer to edit on the phone
if at all possible but I also have a Mac if that is the only option.

I have downloaded menu audio editing apps but none of them seem to really work
with voiceover. I have heard of people using garage band. I have tried to use
it many many times but I can't figure out how to use it. Any and all
suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

Thanks Sieghard. So, I assume you cannot remove the list of people you texted
recently but can you change the order of the apps that is listed after the
contacts? What is the list based on anyway? May be that can suggest some way?

With the Apple USB camera kit I have, one end plugs into the lightning port on
your phone. The other end has both a USB port and a lightning port. You plug
the thumb drive into the USB port. You plug the phone charging chord into the
lightning port.

USB drive which on a laptop certainly does not need or can be plugged into any
power source and it did not work and neither did it work when I tried an older
Kingston DataTraveller 2.0 USb drive with an 8Gb capacity.

The DataTraveller was even identified correctly, e.g. “Could not use USB

My iPhone 8 was charged to 93% and the result was the same when I plugged in
the USB drive while my iPhone was on it’s wireless charging mat.

Yes, I have a four port USB powered hub that I plugged into the adapter that
was plugged into the ipad mini. This port has a switch to turn on and off each
port. I had only one port turned on. Nothing happened when it was connected
to my ipad mini. I did plug in a usb keyboard and it did work. I got the idea
of trying a fflash drive after reading the following review:

Apple-Lightning-USB-Camera-Adapter
5.0 out of 5 stars
The hidden gem of Apple accessories
September 12, 2017

Kids, this is the real deal. People make fun of Apple and their overpriced
dongles, but this thing is magic. No really, I can't think of another tiny
piece of hardware that has so drastically expanded what I can do with a single
port.

This dongle hides behind the name "Camera Adapter", as if it were a mere tool
for camera enthusiasts. I don't care about cameras at all, I've used this to:

- Attach a USB keyboard for use with my iPad Pro
- Connect a Blue Yeti USB Microphone to my iPad and record vocals
- Attach a USB MIDI Controller which then seamlessly hooks into Garageband's
Synth instruments
- Connect to a USB-to-Ethernet hub and download stuff to my iPhone/iPad over
Ethernet
- Oh, by the way, that hub I mentioned has 3 USB ports on it, I can connect
stuff to **all three of them** and download over Ethernet at the same time.
- And yeah, maybe I'll try it out with a camera someday when I'm done rocking
out with all these other peripherals... I wonder if I could plug in an
Electric-Guitar-to-USB adapter...

Anyway, this thing is insane. You might have an awesome iPad, but until you get
this, you're not using it right.

Russ,

Are you saying you have a USB powered hub that you plugged into the adapter
that was plugged into the iPhone?

That means you are adding multiple drives at once, which computers handle fine;
I am not sure iPhones or maybe even iPads can handle that.

Have you called Apple Accessibility who maybe could answer your question fairly
quickly? 877-204-3930

Note that with some drives, you will get a message that the accessory requires
too much power. In that case, you just need to do the following:

Unplug the lightning to USB adapter from the phone.

Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.

Plug the adapter back into the phone.

Questions regarding audio game hub 2

2020-01-06 Thread Terri Stimmel

Thank you,

Terri
