Re: Native Mail App Question

2020-03-31 Thread Eric Caron
Yes,

I think there is a way to get to rules in mail. I don’t remember how I
did it but I think it is through iCloud on the web. If one can do that using
safari through a iOS device then you might be able to set up the mail boxes and
rules that way. Certainly not an easy process.

I really appreciate the problem solving and info on this list.

I use a logitech K380 keyboard which doesn't have a keypad, however, I have
dialled and entered numbers using the number row at the top of the board

using the VO arrows to find the correct number on the phone and clicking on it
also worked fine.

Is it possible to direct email from particular senders into it’s
own folder? I’m subscribed to a few groups and it would make things easier.
Would be appreciative of any guidance on this, if it is an option.

If you are wanting to create a folder using your iPhone and move email into it,
this is how you do it. Go to mailboxes and select edit. At the last item is new
mailbox option. Here you name the folder and activate the location to put the
folder where you want it. Finish by selecting done at top. If this isn't what
you were trying to do, then disregard my message.

On a device it is not possible to have mails go into specific folders.
If you have a computer then yes, there are ways to apply the rules so that
incoming emails goes into their respective folders.

Re: Native Mail App Question

2020-03-31 Thread Richard Turner
Not that I'm aware of.
I've asked for this for several years.
Keep asking Apple to include this feature and maybe one day it will show up.
I'd write Apple accessibility, but maybe more importantly add the feedback
through www.apple.com/feedback
since this is not strictly an accessibility issue, their accessibility people
may not have much to say about this, but I figure the more people that hear
that this is a desired feature, the better.

Re: Making calls with added codes

2020-03-31 Thread Bill Gallik
If you are sure what information (numbers) will be prompted for you can always
set up a number with a comma (,) to incorporate a 3-second pause in the dialing
sequence. For example, if I want to get into one of my bank accounts to check
balances or transactions I would do the following:

Type in “Bank-by-Phone telephone number, for example:

800-935-9935 (digits only) to call into the bank.
Then follow the numeric string with a comma and the code number, in this case
“,1”

Then follow this with my account number and another comma, for example:
123456789,

usually, at this point the system will be prompting for an action code and will
allow you the time to enter that manually.

And, if a single comma proves to be inadequate you can always juxtapose a
second comma to the first to allow for a 6-second pause.

Yes,

You could set it up on your phone and then copy it and paste it in an Email and
they can either activate the number from the Email or put it in their contacts.

In the iPhone contacts, add the phone number as always, but then find the shift
key, which is in the lower left part of the phone keypad when you are entering
a number in a contact.

Tap that once and the 4 will now be a comma.

Repeat for as many commas as you think you will need before the code. Usually
2 or so works for me.

Then, enter the code, followed by the pound sign or number sign, you may need
to use the shift again and then the pound sign is below the 9, or is it in
place of the 9. Not sure right now.

Then, if it is like some systems I’ve used, there is a delay before the system
says press star to enter as host or pound to enter as guest.

I find two or three commas before another pound sign usually works fine.

Richard

Hi. I’m trying to have some people call into a conference call tomorrow, and
they’re using an iPhone. They’re not very good at dialing numbers quickly.
This conference call has a meeting code once they dial in the main phone number.

Is there a way of getting this to happen? I was wondering if there was
something equal to dialing a number with a bunch of commas in between the
number and code.

Any ideas?

Re: Dilemma with Wake-up Alarm Song

2020-03-31 Thread Wayne Merritt
Personal preference here, but i like to have the vibrate option turned
on. I'm hard of hearing, and having the phone vibrate is another way
for it to prompt me the alarm is going off. I haven't had any issues
lately with hearing the alarm since it has been super loud. Sometimes
I wish I could adjust the alarm volume, but then again, I might make
it too quiet and miss it.

Be well,

RE: Making calls with added codes

2020-03-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Anybody who needs to enter longer sets of numbers can always use a Bluetooth
keypad or look for a Bluetooth numeric pad specifically for this purpose.
I think this may be new in iOS 13, but I just tried this and it works
perfectly. I called my credit card company and at first I was asked to Press 1
for English and doing so on my Logitech K780's numeric pad worked. Then I was
asked to enter my 16-digit credit card number and once again typing it very
rapidly on the numeric pad on my keyboard and then pressing Shift + 3 on the
number row which is the pound symbol worked perfectly.

Best regards,
Sieghard

RE: Making calls with added codes

2020-03-31 Thread Carolyn
So much of the time, when I try to dial in numbers required, when I'm about
half way through, I get a prompt that this is not the right number. Evidently,
there is a setting that numbers have to be entered at a certain speed. I don't
have enough occasion to build up speed, which I am sure I could, as we do most
things better with doing or practice.

HTH,

Richard

Any ideas?

Jim

RE: Using Magic Mouse with voiceover on new iPad Pro

2020-03-31 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Harry,

Thanks for these, I’m sure folks will find it useful.

I’m totally sightless but I’m interested to give it a go anyway when I finally
get my iPad pro back.

To make the mouse work for me with voiceover, this is what I did:

Mouse with iPad - and even with VoiceOver!

In iOS 13.4 you can now use a Bluetooth mouse just like on a Mac!Go into
Settings, Bluetooth, turn on your Bluetooth mouse and when you spot it at the
bottom of the list, tap on the name and then tap on Pair. The pointer that
appears on tge screen is circular and initially quite small, but follow along
below to change its size and colour! If you use VoiceOver, next go into
accessibility settings, VoiceOver and down to Pointer and double tap on that.
Now double tap on the option saying Moves VoiceOver cursor. Now go back to
VoiceOver settings and double tap on the button speak under pointer and on the
next screen double tap to toggle on Speak under pointer!

Now go back to Accessibility settings and down to tap on Pointer Control: here
you can toggle on Increase contrast, adjust the time that elapses before your
stationary mouse pointer temporarily disappears (until you move mouse). You can
change the pointer colour and use the slider to change the size of the pointer.
Do toggle on Pointer animations.

In addition, in Settings, General, when your mouse is turned on and connected
to your iPad, a new setting will be visible called Trackpad & Mouse and here
you can toggle on the ability to right-click!

To go back to home screen, move cursor to middle bottom of screen and click.

Click top right in status bar to open Control Centre.

Click at top left of status bar to open Notification Centre.

Harry

I have RP and have about 2 per cent of central vision left and nothing else.
Still comes in handy on iPad big screen!

Using mouse with VoiceOver on the new iPad Pro is brilliant! It has a few
problems: when in a list of tweets in Twitterrific, I love the way the
voiceover can be set to follow the mouse pointer and read out the tweet under
the mouse pointer. The downside is that when I want to move the mouse pointer
to the bottom of the screen in order to access the doc, the process of moving
the pointer downwards towards the dock also takes me right back to the earlier
tweets and next time I open the app, it will open at that much earlier point.
Is there a solution?
Thanks
