RE: FaceTime on Android and Windows

Any more,

Safari for windows did exist about 10 or so years back,

I don't believe it really took off,

Unlike internet explorer for the mac which was the browser to use back in the
day.

Apart from that there is ltittle use in speculating until this is available and

I didn't hear of anyone sighted using safari when it was available for windows.

Especially when chrome, and firefox were available and worked.

Re: Logitech K860 Wireless ergonomic keyboard for Windows/android or Mac/iOS, updated info about the Applications key

2021-06-12 Thread Richard Turner
For the computer, you plug the Usb dongle into a USB port on your compputer,
and press the first device key; The first of the three device keys is already
paired to that USB dogle.
To pair then with a bluetooth device; like an iPhone.
Do the usual, and open the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone.
Then hold down the device 2 or 3 key on the keyboard. When the keyboard shows
up, double tap on it and they are paired.
You can now just press the device key you want for the device you'd like to use
with the keyboard.

Logitech K860 Wireless ergonomic keyboard for Windows/android or Mac/iOS

I needed a new keyboard as my 15-year-old USB keyboard was starting to have
problems with a few keys and my old hands are deciding that it is time to go
back to an ergonomic keyboard.
So, after doing some research, I settled on what is rated as one of the better
ergonomic keyboards.

I was not set on wireless, but that is the way the world is going and since I
like Logitech products in general, I went with this one.
Logitech K860 Split wireless Ergonomic keyboard. It is pricy at $130.
I'll start with the negatives.

Cons:
(When I first wrote this up, I thought there was no Applications Key, but there
is, listed as number 8 under Pros.)
1. Only one Windows key on the left.
2. No accessible documentation. And no true documentation about the
hieroglyphic symbols used on some of the keys.
3. It is too easy to toggle to the media functions for the function keys.
4. It is pretty large. Left to right it is the same width as my standard
Wired USB keyboard. Front to back it is about 1.5 times as deep. And, of
course, much higher off the desk at the front edge due to the curve for the
ergonomics of the thing.
5. *Not really a con, just the nature of ergonomic keyboards, but the split is
between the 6 and 7, (and f6 and f7) keys, so for touch typists, the habit of
hitting the 6and F6 with your right index finger has to be retrained.

Pros:
1. It is probably the most comfortable keyboard I have ever typed on. The
wrist rest is quite comfortable, and for me, at the right height Plus, it has
feet under the front edge so you can raise it up to a more level arrangement
which fits me perfectly. It is already on a slight angle so no real need for
feet in the back.
2. Easy setup with or without the Logitech Options package. I plugged in the
USB receiver turned on the keyboard and Windows 10 had no trouble communicating
with it. There is a little key next to the f12 key that toggles you between
standard function keys and the media function keys. Easy to press accidentally.
3. It takes two triple A batteries, and they say that they will last 2 years.
I believe it based on my experience with the K480.
4. This is a full-sized keyboard with the number pad.
5. If I used the Windows Calculator more, this has a designated key above the
Num-lock key to launch the Windows Calculator.
6. It can connect to 3 devices. Either 3 Bluetooth devices or 1 USB and 2
Bluetooth, and/or possibly 2 USB devices and one Bluetooth, that isn't clear.
Connecting it to my iPhone was easy after I called their support line.
The three keys for switching between devices are right above the 6 pack, making
it a 9 pack.
It is tremendously easy to switch devices. I wanted to check a key function on
my iPhone while I was writing this, so I tapped the iPhone key, (for me device
3) did my checking, tapped the computer key, (device 1), and finished writing
this in Word on my computer.
7. It has a physical on/off switch located on the back edge and slightly under
it. If you feel where the split is between f6 and f7, and slide your finger
straight back, you are on it. Flipped to the right is on.
8. There is an Applications key after all, it is the second key from the top
right most key.. It is easy to toggle between the standard function keys and
the media function keys. I know, I listed this under the cons, but for some it
would also be a pro.

For anyone else who has, or ends up with this keyboard, here is the key layout
that involves the

Richard,

The apps that I use that screen recognition makes the app accessible are
UCHealth. This app is mostly accessible. SR is needed to get drop down menus to
open, put focus on text fields for entering in dates. Getting out., this app is
mostly accessible. SR is needed to open drop down menus, access text fields for
entering dates, credit card info & the I agree check box. Go visits, SR is
needed to enter dates & drop down menus, so that the entire list of menu items
are visible & can be selected. Radish, this app is the least accessible of the
4 apps. Without SR most of the elements of the app are not visible & can not be
activated by tapping. With the use of SR the tab bar along the bottom is
visible, the Back arrows are visible, other tabs within the app can be
activated by tapping. SR has to be toggled On/Off a lot during use of the app.
A good understanding & how to use SR is most definitely necessary. A new iPhone
user may have trouble using the app.

Re: Spotify

2021-06-12 Thread Wendy Lin
Hi Feliciano,

Yeah that’s what one of my other blind friends have told me. The create
playlist button is still there for him too but he wrote to Spotify support on
behalf of me I guess because he told me that they’re going to fix that in the
next update.

Bluetooth pairing with this keyboard? I know about the three assignment keys

I have 4 apps in which screen recognition helps with making certain parts of
each app accessible. Without screen recognition these apps would be
unaccessible to voiceover users. The problem with screen recognitions usability
within an app isn't consistent. With the inconsistent behavior within any one
app, this confuses most voiceover users. The biggest problem & it is
inconsistent- When an app is updated, screen recognition gets turned on during
the update. & when an app is first downloaded screen recognition is on by
default. This is also inconsistent. I have yet figured out why some apps, when
being updated or downloaded for the first time, screen recognition gets turned
on, while other apps screen recognition has to be turned on by the rotor or
selecting the app in voice recognition in accessibility voiceover settings.
Unfortunately, I have no second device in which to use to beta test screen
recognition, so that the feature is usable for all voiceover users. Screen
recognition is a great feature when it works as intended.

Donna

I just tested this, I have screen recognition turned on in Voiceover Settings,
but all apps were deselected. I tried this now by selecting Aira and 3 random
other apps and I can confirm that none of these apps worked after I selected
them for screen recognition.
They would open and were in the app switcher, but the only part of the screen
Voiceover would read was the status bar at the top, anywhere else on the screen
it would just ding.
I then turned/deselected these apps again and still Voiceover would not read
anything even removing the apps from the app switcher and trying again was the
same, only after closing all apps and turning my iphone off and back on
restored the prior behaviour where Aira and the other apps would again work as
before. I should also mention that with these apps selected for Screen
Recognition in Settings, the Screen Recognition rotor item was not present, now
after deselecting thema nd rebooting the iPhone, screen recognition is once
again available in the rotor and turning it on from inside the app does not
make the app unusable, it will just make it less useable in some cases as I
described yesterday using Facebook and the App Store as examples.

Good morning everyone. I thought I would respond to this message in hopes that
a lot of you will read it. There is definitely a major bug with this latest iOS
update 14.6 it is happening on my husband and my SE 2020s and it makes sense
Vickie that it’s happening on your iPad for some reason if you ever turn screen
recognition on we are finding that some apps are refusing to open. My husband
is not able to get Outlook or Aira to open on his phone and I downloaded a new
app last night and it would not open on my phone. We contacted Apple support,
and they had us do screen sharing that and they are advising anyone who is
having these problems to contact Apple and have it screen shared so that they
can figure out what is going on because it is happening where many of us due to
this latest update are having trouble opening apps. I am certainly hoping that
my voice stream does not mess up because I have thousands of books in it

then close all apps in the apps witcher and turn the phone off, then wait maybe
30 seconds and turn it back on all was back to normal.

I agree. I tested and retested to try and produce there results the only way
you will get these results if like you said it is set on for that app. It

And if you & others turn off screen recognition like I suggest, by going into
the app switcher, rather than trying to turn screen recognition off within the
app, Aira & other apps will work just fine once again. Refuse to try my
suggestion, your loss being stuck with unusable apps.

Doesn’t matter if the screen curtain is on or off the screen is still black
nothing is there doesn’t matter what you do when this happens the app will not

I think what everybody is failing to realize is when this problem occurs there
is no evidence of screen recognition in the rotor whatsoever because the screen
is 1000% completely blank meaning your app is completely useless you can’t do
anything with it whatsoever as nothing speaks and when you ask someone to
review the screen it is completely black

Hi Sieghard,

I can also confirm your experience. With all the hoopla around the latest Apple
event and iOS 15 supposed enhancements to screen recognition, etc., I hope they
test it fully using Voiceover because the sort of app wreckage described in
this thread for VO users turning on screen recognition is a disaster.

but all apps were deselected.

I only used screen recognition a short time when it was first available and
found it so useless, I have not had it on since.
All apps, including VDR, are working great in 14.6 on my SE 2020.
Perhaps turning off screen recognition under VoiceOver settings, VoiceOver
recognition, rebooting the phone, before installing VDR would be a work around.

But, everyone running into this issue needs to call Apple Accessibility for
sure.

Sadly unfortunately if she’s having the same problem we are with the latest
update of iOS even if she does delete the app and reinstall it it will not
solve the problem. I hope that she’s not having the same problem but it is
seeming to be rampant and several of us are recognizing that it is happening on
our phones. Even if you do the forced restart even if you’ve done an iPhone
restore, since Apple is only allowing you even to go back if you were race your
phone and get one iOS iCloud back up if there was a problem in that back up you
can’t even go back far enough to get an update that will take you back to where
you once were. Sadly if people are having this problem we just ask that you
please contact Apple so that they can fix it. Dana

I am not sure what to recommend, other than the extreme step of deleting the
app and reinstalling it; which I know is a royal pain and may lose some
documents.

Subject: Serious Problem With Voice Dream Reader

Hi,

I have a problem with Voice Dream Reader on my mini IPad five since the last
update of IOS and the VDR app. I usually make sure everything is working before
I update something else, but, of course, I was in a hurry and updated IOS first
and then my apps shortly after that without at least checking those apps which
I use every day. All of my other apps are working fine, but VDR is broken!
Below is a list of things that are happening.

1. Whenever I try to open VDR, it goes to my home screen. It shows up in the
app switcher, but I get the same result when I try to open it from there as
well. It simply will not allow me access.

2. When VDR appears to be running, my app switcher will not switch from one app
to another with the four-finger side swipe. It goes directly to my home screen
instead.

3. If I have several apps running in the app switcher, including VDR, when I
close one, VDR just vanishes as if it wasn't ever there and at that point my

I agree. I tested and retested to try and produce there results the only way
you will get these results if like you said it is set on for that app. It
isn‘t hard to fix.

And if you & others turn off screen recognition like I suggest, by going into
the app switcher, rather than trying to turn screen recognition off within the
app, Aira & other apps will work just fine once again. Refuse to try my
suggestion, your loss being stuck with unusable apps.

Doesn’t matter if the screen curtain is on or off the screen is still black
nothing is there doesn’t matter what you do when this happens the app will not
work

I think what everybody is failing to realize is when this problem occurs there
is no evidence of screen recognition in the rotor whatsoever because the screen
is 1000% completely blank meaning your app is completely useless you can’t do
anything with it whatsoever as nothing speaks and when you ask someone to
review the screen it is completely black

If you're in an app which has screen recognition turned on, twist the rotor to
screen recognition and flick down to turn it off. Then twist away so as not to
accidentally turn it on again.

Attention everyone, the latest iOS update has caused major problems. I
currently cannot use Microsoft outlook nor can I use Aira. When I try to open
these apps the only thing you get is a blank screen. I think one of the reasons
for this is because we turned screen recognition on while I was in the app the
other day. We did a reset on the phone and did a back up through iTunes, called
Apple and they did a screen share and video and send a ticket to the
tech-support. They ask that anyone that is having problems with any app not
opening to please contact them and let them know about it so they can try to
find the problem. My wife is also having difficulty with an app she downloaded
yesterday it was working she turned screen recognition on to try to figure out
something in the app and it will not load anymore. So the best advice I could
give you is do not turn screen recognition on if you do you may not be able to
use the app that you turned it on with because you definitely can’t turn it off
once this happens. Again anyone having these problems need to let Apple know.
