Hi.

be a step or two you would need sighted assistance for, but no more
than that.

Forgive the presumption on my part, but I think you may be Jewish
(like me) and so you might find jwed.com accessible if you have a
computer. I am not sure if they have an app for the phone.

Hope this helps.

RE: Hope this is acceptable question

2022-05-31 Thread michv
Hello my name is Mich. I am 38 cis, straight and way 252 lbs. I have no kids
and am seeking a partner who I am able to have fun with and a long term
relationship. I will comment that wile I have used facebook dateing that I have
not found anyone on there. I have not used pof for years the last time I tried
I found the websight to be less then accessible. Facebook dateing works just
fine. I might also say that there is a group on groups.io I think cald blind
singles or something like that that might also be another thing to try since
it is a e mail list. Hth. From Mich.

Hello Chaim,

First, your question is absolutely appropriate for this forum.

Second, I applaud you for having the courage to post your question on-list. So
many blind and low-vision people are seeking companionship but find it
difficult to address the matter, directly; this has certainly been my
experience.

Now, to answer your question:

While the Match.com and POF iOS apps are reasonably accessible for a low-vision
user, I would hesitate to recommend them to a totally blind person.

You may find that the web interfaces are much more accessible. This is to say
you can open Safari (or your preferred browser) and visit the websites.

Although I have not used it personally, Facebook has launched a new free dating
service that is reported to be quite good. According to the articles I've
read, the demographics seem to lean towards singles who are 40+, 50+ and older
which, based on your posted info, should be just fine for you.

Again, I have not used this new service but if you are familiar with Facebook,
then you're halfway there to setting up your dating profile.

The service can only be accessed via the Facebook app; it is not available on
the web, at least, not yet.

Again, it's called Facebook Dating.

Give it a try and let us knowhow it goes.

That happened to me almost a week ago when I was trying to send a happy
birthday message to one of my Facebook friends. First it said loading, when I’d
open the chat window but after closing and reopening the app, looking for the
contact again and opening his chat window, it worked normally.

I'm writing a tutorial on how to use the basic features of the KeePass program
to manage your passwords with your computer. I'm running Windows 7 with Fusion
2019 and using KeePass version 2.44, the most recent downloadable version, for
purposes of this discussion. I will include navigable headings where

Introduction

KeePass is an open source program available for free for maintaining a user's
passwords. This discussion will be about running KeePass on a Windows computer
but my understanding is that it will also run on Linux and Mac OS X. Note the
spelling of the program which appears to be a combination of the words keep and
an abbreviation of password and don't make the mistake I did thinking it's
spelled like a key to unlock something. KeePass is basically a small database
management system where the underlying records are your passwords. A database
is really just a table or spreadsheet of information where each row represents
a record and each column represents a field of data for that record. For
password records, the main fields in KeePass are Title, User Name, and Password
where Title is the item with the password such as NLS BARD account. Be aware
that KeePass has two main versions and various build iterations of each,
version 1.x and version 2.x. I recommend you use version 2.x as I believe it
contains more accessibility and this discussion will be about it.

KeePass Website

The main KeePass website can be found here:

  https://keepass.info/

The site contains a lot of helpful information and I'd recommend you explore it
to gather what you need. I'd suggest you start by pressing Insert + F7 to
generate a list of links and arrow through them to find your interests most
quickly. You can go to the Downloads link from this list or use the following
link to download the KeePass program:

  https://keepass.info/download.html

KeePass has both fully installable and portable versions. As you arrow through
the available downloads, you can pick whether you want the installer which
will be an exe file or the Portable version which will be a zip file. As you
know, Portable versions don't add anything to your registry and can be copied
to a flash drive for portability after being unzipped.

Running KeePass the first time

I installed the fully installable version of KeePass a few years back when I
started using it and I have no intention of uninstalling it for purposes of
this overview. Be aware of that so if you experience something different from
my explanation, the reason might relate to this. I will attempt to mirror a new
installation by creating a new KeePass database file that will hopefully yield
similar results to those who are installing it for the first time.

When I pressed Ctrl + n to create an new KeePass database file, I was prompted
to save it with the name Database.kdbx in the same folder of my existing
KeePass database. First time users of the program will probably get different
results but I'd recommend that if you're a Dropbox user, that you save your
KeePass database kdbx file in your Dropbox folder. This will make syncing it
with a mobile device discussed later much easier. You should make note of this
file name in order to make it easier to find in the future. After providing the
database filename and location, you are in a dialog box to create your
composite master key which is your master password to access your KeePass
database. Choose a password that isn't easily cracked but that you can easily
remember. This will be the only password you have to remember going forward
because all the others will be housed in KeePass to

He gave me permission to put it on my web site.

You will find it in two formats. Microsoft Word and as its own html page.

It is in the first section of my web site under iOS and keyboard commands.
Maybe I will add another section, but it works there for now.

Re: Password manager

2022-05-31 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hi Richard,

Not in the traditional sense, where you are sent a code by text message or use
a 2 factor app.

But your password database is first behind a master encrypted password. Then
you can also turn on a second layer of protection with a pin.
It also has other security precautions, like lock after so many seconds without
action, and delete database if pin is entered incorrectly a number of times
that you choose.

I liked it because of its simple interface, its total accessibility, and since
it will work both on ios as well as windows.
I did try 1Password, but thought it was just more complicated than I wanted.

RE: Password manager

2022-05-31 Thread Richard Turner
Alan,

Does Keepass support two factor authentication?

I did a web search on Windows and found a link that announced version 2.45 was
released and when I followed the download link which is through source forge,
it was version 2.51…

I have not used a password manager but keep passwords in a password protected
excel spreadsheet. I’m getting tired of having to open it up when I need one
of my more obscure passwords.

Can you direct me to a primer for dummies on how to use this or any other
password manager?

Password manager

2022-05-31 Thread jkt4960
Good morning,

What's an accessible password manager for both PC and IOS. I have my 3rd gen
iPhone SE with me always but any real computer work I do is with my PC and
JAWS. My current password system is getting pretty ugly so I need to find a
solution.

Thanks for your help,

Joe

I think I have heard that Ge has some ovens that they have templets you
can put on so it is easier to use them.

I heard of induction stoves but I’m not very familiar with them. I assume we
can cook everything that you would in a regular stove? How do you know where
the burners are on the top? Because aren’t they flat? And those are the ones
that use magnets right? If so, do you have to buy all new pots and pans?
Sorry for all the questions but just curious since we are looking into this and
want to definitely get something that will work for us. I most definitely would
love if possible to have Wi-Fi though for sure I’m going to spend a little
extra because that way we don’t have to worry about trying to label everything
and then if the label falls etc.

Sieghard,
I am so glad you brought up Induction cook tops stoves. They are definitely
my new favorite. One thing that I don't think you mentioned is that the
temperature response is just as good as cooking with a gas stove. When you
turn it down the temperature drops immediately. I absolutely love this way
of cooking.

First of all, I highly recommend you consider electric with an induction
cooktop, nothing beats it!

We bought a GE stove from their Café series and the app is useable although
could be better. You can also integrate with Alexa if you wish. The only
thing which has to be marked and this may have changed with newer models, is
the "WiFi Enable" button. It is on the oven's touch screen and you do have
to first tap it before the app will connect. However, I set this up 3 years
ago and it has never not connected once the WiFi enable was tapped. The oven
we chose has actually two ovens, one smaller upper oven which is still
perfectly big enough for a pizza, sheet cake and many other things and then
the full-size lower oven. Advanced functions like convection bake, roast and
so on are only available for the lower oven, but we definitely use the upper
oven a lot more. The control for the cooktop are nice knobs which I think
are still best as it makes frequent small changes much easier. There are 4
areas on the cooktop and a fifth warming plate and on the left side you can
combine the front and back for one larger heating area and of course
induction is the most efficient and fastest cooking method. I recently read
an article which stated that gas stoves and cooktops actually emit a lot of
air pollution into the house and whereas an induction cooktop is 85%
efficient, gas is 35% efficient. Then of course there is the advantage that
it is really difficult to burn yourself, of course while you are cooking the
oil or water you are heating is just as hot, and while the cooktop is hot
right after you remove a pot or pan, if you just briefly touch it you won't
even burn yourself then and about 2 minutes later it's already cool enough
to touch and clean. Lastly, if something boils over it won't get all burned
in and cleaning the stove top is super easy.

Hey Al, hope you all are doing well. I had a question and thought I'd come
out here and ask for input. We are in the market for a new oven and we have
seen that they have some Wi-Fi models available. Does anyone know if any of
these have an accessible app that will work with voiceover? My husband and I
are both totally blind. I should also mention that we are looking for a gas
oven if that makes a difference. Thanks so much in advance.
