Speech and sounds are very clear. You can crank the volume up, but you will get a tickle on your temples when you do this. It may also not be loud enough, depending on how loud the traffic noises are. It won't be as loud as you'll get with passive noise cancellation. -- Christopher (AKA CJ)

Turns out I was using Samantha after all. I improved the sluggishness by doing a power off and restarting. I hope that helps others. I now see that I can choose from all of the same voices I have on my phone. I don’t recall seeing this before. I’m now experimenting with the same voices I like

For walking around, I prefer the bone conduction headphones like the OpenMove from Shokz or the Bose Frames. There's nothing in your ears at all. I like to use transparency mode when I'm around the house and still need to hear what's going on around me and where I want some better sound
