Hi Max, Unfortunately, I think hearing aids have something to do with it. I also have hearing aids connected to my phone. This afternoon, the phone wasn't playing through the aids for some reason, and music recognition worked. I reconnected the aids, and music recognition still worked.

Shazam is not needed. It was an alternative that I used when I had the same issue as the OP with iOS 16. Now with iOS 17 identifying music with Siri works fine. Not sure what fixed it the update-or reset of settings. Shazam was and is more efficient and it logs the music you identified in a
