Seigardt: Sorry, you are right. My cellular signal shows three bars out of four, and wi-fi shows three out of three. When I switched to Consumer Cellular, I was sent the sym card in the mail, so was able to determine what carrier network was being used by the I.D. number on the card. In any case, this problem seems to have just started when update 16.2 was installed, and has been reported to Apple accessibility, so not just an isolated problem. Seigard: Turning on wi-fi calling has seemed to help with the audio problem. I have had Consumer Cellular phone service for a couple of years with no problem before. I live in a large city and am not in an area that has bad service, that is why I am wondering how it could be my carrier. I am curious if others with the same problem have different phone carriers. I have just given this a short test with one phone call, so not for sure that all is solved, but it seems to be working fine as of now without the speaker cutting out. Seigardt: The strange thing is that, after first answering a call, I pull the phone away from my ear, so it will go to speaker. After about a minute or less, the speaker cuts out and I have to bring it back to my ear to hear. Then, again, after a minute or so, the ear speaker will cut off for a couple of seconds. This happens every thirty seconds, or so. Amy: I have been having the same problem. Have been in contact with Apple accessibility and she finally realized that it was cutting off and on while I was talking to her. I got an email saying that they were working on the problem. About a month later, I sent another email and they responded that they are still working on resolving the problem. Like you say, I can talk OK when wearing my blue tooth hearing aids, but don't want to do that all the time just around the house. Guess we will just have to hang in. Comfort in knowing we are not alone. Audio cutting out when on a call/SE 2020
Hi list: When I am talking to someone on a phone call, the speaker will cut out and I have to hold the phone to my ear to hear again. Even when holding the phone to my ear, the audio will cut out. I have a strong signal and even happens while talking to my neighbor next door. Anyone else have this problem? Siri announcing phone numbers in billions, instead of single digits.
Since the 16.1 update, when I ask Siri to give me a phone number that is not in my contacts, she reads the number out in billions, instead of digit by digit. Anyone else have this or know of a fix? I have also been having issues with my ring app. When I get an incident alert, I can’t read the whole description of what has happened. I see the incident and how far away, but when I try to read more, I just get a bunch of words that seem like they are in another language. Mike: I solved the problem. I remembered that I had screen recognition turned off in voice over recognition in the voice over settings. Once I turned it on again, it appeared in the voice over quick settings. Ring doorbell alert in a foreign language
A very strange thing has happened with my Ring doorbell neighborhood alerts. When I open the page to read the alert, voice over reads the post in a foreign language. Everything else on the page she reads in English. Has anyone had this happen? Notification Center problem resolved...
Well, I found an answer to the notification bug of not being able to open a notification with a double tap on the lock screen. I remembered that with the latest update, when I got a reminder, the ‘more’ option which would show up with a one finger flick up was not showing up in 16, but someone said to do a single finger triple tap to see the options to mark as completed, etc.. Well, I thought I would try that with a text message, and when I did a single finger triple tap on the notification, the messages app opened and put me in the reply field. The best thing about a camera alert system, is that you can set it for motion alert, and if a delivery man does not ring the bell, at least you can check the door to get your package. If you have an Alexa with a screen, you can see who is at your door quicker than bringing up the app on your phone, and you can talk to the person at the door through your Alexa device, or your phone app. To talk to the person through the Alexa device, just say ‘Alexa, talk to the back door, or whatever you name the door. To see the person, if you have a Alexa with a screen, just say, Alexa, show me the front door, or whatever you name the door. No Function Key
Hello, I am an instructor at my local center for thee blind. One of my jobs is to teach clients to use their Macs. I have a student who does not have a function key on her keyboard. We have already set her top row of keys to behave as function keys, instead of controlling the volume and such. Bev: You could try downloading 'Seeing AI'. It is a free app for iPhone and has a product recognize channel. Open the app and flick up to you hear 'product' announced. Then scan the bar code. There will be a series of beeps and the closer you get to the whole bar code, the beeps will increase in speed. When the bar code is recognized, you will hear a musical set of notes and then the info will read out. The bar code is usually at the bottom left of the can label seam. Seeing AI has a 'short text'' channel, which is the first one that comes up when you open the app, and it may be able to read the prescription info. Don: I encountered the same thing. There is a button at the bottom of the page, but voice over does not announce it. The only way around this for me was to get sighted help. Turn off voice over and have a sighted person tap the button that closes the page. Josh: I was with Verizon for years. I was paying $56 a month for one phone with unlimited talk and text and 3 gb of data. With Consumer Cellular I am now paying $25 for the same plan. Verizon is better in rural areas, but I don't need that anymore, as live in a fairly large city, so the savings are worth it.
