RE: App switcher question

2017-02-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Donald and Anna,

On an iPhone as old as the 3GS flicking up with 3 fingers won’t work. The old
way was to double tap and hold on an app once you are in the app switcher and
then you double tap each app to close it, it’s basically like deleting an app
on the home screen. I can’t remember in what version of iOS Apple introduced
the flicking up method, but it was probably iOS 6 or something like that,
certainly beyond what the 3GS can run.

Thanks much for your response, Anna. For some inexplicable reason, it isn't
closing the app on my 3 GS. I just checked and found that this thing is
running IOS version 6.1.6 which is the latest version of IOS I can run on it.

Again, thanks.

Hi Don. To close apps in the app switcher in iOS 6, double tap and hold the app

Hi Peggy,

You do it from within the app. You can also go to the App Switcher, flick left
or right until you find the app you want, and double-tap.

Re: App switcher question

2017-02-24 Thread pegkane52

Hi, I have a question don't know if this is in the same subject but is there a
way if you have several apps open to flick from one app to the next app not by
going to another page but by flicking somehow I thought I had seen something, I
can't remember what I saw I thought it had something to do with the app
switcher if you had several apps open maybe someone will know and can you tell
me this way I don't have to keep closing the pages and opening them.
Thank you very much. Peggy

App switcher question

2017-02-24 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I have an old 3 GS which I use as an internet radio. I can't recall
what to do after I get into the app switcher to close out some running
applications. I should have checked before writing this, but I think it
is running IOS 8 something. At any rate, if any remembers how to close
an app in the app switcher for older versions of IOS, please respond.

Thanks in advance.

RE: App Switcher Question

2016-01-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Michelle,

I can confirm what Christopher said, unless I close the app switcher by
pressing the home button or by doing a scrub gesture or double tapping on the
home icon in the app switcher it stays open indefinitely, well, of course if I
leave it until the iPhone locks then it will also close. Is it possible that
your 3-finger swipe could be interpreted as a scrub gesture somehow or that
you accidently press the home button?
You can also close apps the same way you delete emails, e.g. when you are on an
app you can swipe up or down with one finger to change to "Delete", then double
tap. Once you swiped down once it stays on delete so you can just double tap
apps after you put it to delete once. The only exception is that if you ever
get to the home icon in the app switcher and then swipe left again to get to
more apps this will reset it and you would have to swipe down again to get to
delete.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Re: App switcher question

Hi, sorry for getting back late. Let me describe about the app switcher in
detail.
When the app switcher opens, the current home screen is reduced by half both in
the width and in the height, and is put in the first place.
All the apps in the app switcher are shown likewise; that is, each of them
shows its snapshot of its last screen image in half the original size.
App switcher, then, shows three small screenshots at a time. First one is
placed on the left but is shown only the right half, second one is placed in
the middle and is fully shown, and the third one is shown on the right but is
shown only the left half.

If you drag a little bit, the screenshots scroll smoothly and stops to show
three screenshots just as described above.
Also shown together with these half-size screenshots are their icons just below
them. You can just think of one icon below one screenshot, and thus there are
three icons shown below the current three screenshots. In fact, there are up to
five icons shown. One icon right below the middle screenshot in the middle, but
the icons for the left and the right screenshots are more closer to the middle
icon. This placement gives a little extra space to show two more icons to be
seen in each side. Just one fourth of the icon images are shown on the left and
on the right. Sighted persons would not touch these icons, but anyway if you
ever touch any of these icons or snapshots, the corresponding app opens.
However, to close the app from the app switcher, you need to pull upward the
snapshots instead of icons. One, two, or three snapshots can be pulled up at a
time. However, most people just seem to touch or drag one at a time not to make
it look complicated.
If VoiceOver is turned on, only snapshots can be focused one at a time, and
could become active again, or be closed.
Hope this can clarify about your understanding about the app switcher. Sorry
and please understand my poor description. :)

Ein

Hi all,

To add to this thread,
What is the visual indication that the app switcher has been opened? To
clarify, sighted people need to open the app switcher and then drag the app
upwards?

with VoiceOver off one can close all apps at once with a three finger

Re: App switcher question

2014-04-29 Thread Ein
Hi, sorry for getting back late. Let me describe about the app switcher in
detail.
When the app switcher opens, the current home screen is reduced by half
both in the width and in the height, and is put in the first place.
All the apps in the app switcher are shown likewise; that is, each of them
shows its snapshot of its last screen image in half the original size.
App switcher, then, shows three small screenshots at a time. First one is
placed on the left but is shown only the right half, second one is placed
in the middle and is fully shown, and the third one is shown on the right
but is shown only the left half.
If you drag a little bit, the screenshots scroll smoothly and stops to show
three screenshots just as described above.
Also shown together with these half-size screenshots are their icons just
below them. You can just think of one icon below one screenshot, and thus
there are three icons shown below the current three screenshots. In fact,
there are up to five icons shown. One icon right below the middle
screenshot in the middle, but the icons for the left and the right
screenshots are more closer to the middle icon. This placement gives a
little extra space to show two more icons to be seen in each side. Just one
fourth of the icon images are shown on the left and on the right. Sighted
persons would not touch these icons, but anyway if you ever touch any of
these icons or snapshots, the corresponding app opens. However, to close
the app from the app switcher, you need to pull upward the snapshots
instead of icons. One, two, or three snapshots can be pulled up at a time.
However, most people just seem to touch or drag one at a time not to make
it look complicated.
If VoiceOver is turned on, only snapshots can be focused one at a time, and
could become active again, or be closed.
Hope this can clarify about your understanding about the app switcher.
Sorry and please understand my poor description. :)

Re: App switcher question

2014-04-25 Thread Ein
App switcher can show up to three apps on the screen. Multiple apps can be
dragged upwards at the same time to close with corresponding number of
fingers with each finger dragging each app.
In previous versions of iOS 7, there were bugs in this operation, but now
the bugs seem to have gone away.
FYI, in iOS 6 and earlier, you need to touch and hold one of the icon on
the app switcher until all of the icons vibrate with small close buttons
attached. It was just like when you want to delete an app from the home
screen. Then you could close one at a time from the app switcher.
