Re: App that announces elapsed time

2015-03-17 Thread Graham
Hi,

When you open the App, at the top left is the settings button.
In there you can choose whether you want a male or female voice, determine how
often you need spoken announcements whether you want the timer to count up once
its counted down, to repeat the count down or just finish after it has counted
down.
The done button is situated towards the bottom left of the screen.

On the main screen when you open the App, near the left edge about a quarter
way down the screen is a button which increases the count down or count up time
by one minute. Below this is the decrease button.
On the righthand side on the same level are the increase and decrease by one
second buttons.
Towards the bottom of the screen is the start count down button.
If you want to stop the timer towards the bottom of the screen is a slider,
double tap and hold this and slide quickly to the right after hearing three or
so quick tones.
On the right you will then have a button that says resume or reset timer.
I hope this is of some use.
When I ran on the treadmill I used bluetooth earphones started my music, then
paused it, went in to the timer and started it counting down then double tapped
the screen so I could listen to my music. The count down voice is still
audible.

Warm regards

Graham

Ditto. I have Chime Squirrel but not sure if I like it. I prefer voices

nice but you can't have everything on a whim smile.

Another very cool timer is called Times Up. It has different voices that
will prompt you at different intervals during the count down and you can
also create your own time limits. It costs $1.00 but I think it is worth it.
Good luck!

Re: App that announces elapsed time

2015-03-16 Thread Alex Hall
Not that I know of, but it seems like something you could build in Workflow
pretty easily. I haven't tried this, but here are the actions I'd use:

1. Text Input, asking for the interval at which to speak. Set this to accept
numbers.
2. Set variable, to store the number. Call the variable interval or something
else meaningful.
3. Set variable, to store the total time. Call it totalTime, and set it to 0.
4. Repeat, setting it to loop a huge amount of times, like 1,000.
5. In the loop, use a Wait action, telling it to wait Interval seconds.
6. A Math action, to add interval to totalTime and set the result to totalTime.
7. A Speak Text action, that speak something like [totalTime] minutes elapsed.

That should do it, and so long as you keep it open while you're doing what you
want timed, it should work just fine.

Free version is limited to only 1 variable interval timer. This means you can
set a training timeer with different lengths of time between chimes.
The pro version allows you to set and save multiple such interval timers for
different needs.

Have not required the upgrade so cannot tell you more about it.

Not that I know of, but it seems like something you could build in Workflow

 1. Text Input, asking for the interval at which to speak. Set this to accept
 numbers.
 2. Set variable, to store the number. Call the variable interval or
 something else meaningful.
 3. Set variable, to store the total time. Call it totalTime, and set it to
 0.
 4. Repeat, setting it to loop a huge amount of times, like 1,000.
 5. In the loop, use a Wait action, telling it to wait Interval seconds.
 6. A Math action, to add interval to totalTime and set the result to
 totalTime.
 7. A Speak Text action, that speak something like [totalTime] minutes
 elapsed.

That should do it, and so long as you keep it open while you're doing what
you want timed, it should work just fine.

Subject: App that announces elapsed time

Hi All,

I'm looking for an app that can be set to announce elapsed time at
user defined intervals. For example, while running on the treadmill I
would like to have an app that would announce the elapsed time every
five minutes. I know there is a stop watch function already on the
iPhone, but I would like to not have to touch the phone to hear the
elapsed time.

Is there such an app?

Thanks in advance,
Kimber

This app looks like it does more or less what i want. But what is the advantage
to upgrading to the paid version?
