I've seen backups get corrupted.
It happened to me and, its quite a headache.

I ended up doing a settings reset. That seemed to fix it. My guess is that
something was in the settings restored from the iPhone 6 that messed with the
new phone somehow.

phone app some times, mine still stuttered some times even after a
restart, but
