RE: Adjusting screen brightness

2016-07-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I used to have auto brightness turned off keeping my brightness at around 10%
for those situations where I had to show something to a sighted person. For a
while now I turned on auto brightness and I have not noticed any difference in
battery life. In fact, often when I check the brightness I find it is very low
which goes to show that it doesn't have to be at 30 or 40% to be ideal for
sighted people. Just now, for example, I am in the bedroom, the light is not
on, but curtains are open and it's daylight outside yet brightness with auto
brightness turned on is only at 5%. The other day I checked at night when it
was completely dark and it was in fact at 0%. All in all I find this is much
more convenient because I can easily hand the phone to a sighted person to show
them a picture or a boarding pass at the airport without having to first fiddle
with it. If I want complete privacy I just turn on the screen curtain.

Sieghard

The screen curtain feature is for privacy concerns only. It does not effect
screen brightness. I don't know why your brightness keeps going up, since you
said you have auto brightness turned off, and you put the brightness slider to
0, but others seem to think that the brightness resets to around 40 percent
when you restart your iPhone. I'll have to do some testing for this issue.
chnyhow, all the screen curtain does is blacken the screen. If you have your
brightness past 0, and your screen curtain on' sighted people will be able to
see the brightness of your screen' but not anything in particular on your
screen. I hope this makes sense.

Ari

Re: Adjusting screen brightness

2016-07-21 Thread Cheryl Lenartiene
I found that the screen brightness would change whenever I would turn the phone
off and back on. Watch for this pattern, and you may detect the change in
brightness faster so you don't run your battery down.

Now, whenever you reboot your phone, the brightness is reset somewhere in
the 40's percent. It has been the case ever since one of the IOS 9 updates,
I don't remember which. Think of it as a new feature.

Re: Adjusting screen brightness

2016-07-20 Thread SoonerAnnie
I have no idea what I can be doing to make it happen, and can't imagine what,
and I don't check it that often unless it seems that my battery is going down
faster than usual.

Re: Adjusting screen brightness

2016-07-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I've seen this as well on my iPhone 4S. It seems sporadic, but there
must be something I'm doing to kick the brightness up from time to time,
but I don't check it frequently and by the time I notice it, who knows
what might have triggered it.

Adjusting screen brightness

2016-07-20 Thread SoonerAnnie
Hi all,

Since I rely totally on VoiceOver to read my iPhone screen, I set the screen
brightness to 0 to help preserve battery use. When I do that, it stays there
for a while, but then I'll check it and it'll be at 40 percent or something
like that. I have auto brightness turned off so have no idea what's making it
do that. My iPhone is a 6S, but not sure that has anything to do with it. LOL.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
