Re: Bluetooth keyboards for iPads
Apple does make keyboard cases and keyboards for the larger iPads, but not for the mini. Unfortunately. RE: Bluetooth keyboards for iPads
I got my wife, who's sighted, an 11 inch iPad for Christmas. She bought herself a keyboard case, which seems like a pretty nice one to me. I don't know the brand, and she's asleep right now, but I can find that out in the morning. I think Apple also makes it's own keyboard case for the iPads. With the VoiceOver short cut keys, you can basically use the keyboard to perform any gesture you can perform with VoiceOver, so once you master those short cut keys, you pretty much never have to touch the screen again. Richard Turner has some nice documentation on these shortcut keys on his web page. You can also get to them by going into the VoiceOver settings. Although I don't have the shortcut keys all down yet myself, I do use my iPhone with the K-380 bluetooth keyboard, and I can do quite a bit before I get stuck and reach for the screen. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Outlook -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Terri Stimmel Sent: Thursday, April 7, 2022 2:04 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Bluetooth keyboards for iPads Hello everyone, I am possibly getting an iPad for my birthday. Re: Bluetooth keyboards for iPads
Hi Terry, I recently purchased an iPad mini, and I bought a keyboard to go with it. I sent the keyboard back. It was the sort you described, with a keyboard and then the iPad fits in the top. I had a few problems with the keyboard. Number one was the large bezel around the keyboard, which meant that the space barwas not in a good position for me. Number two was the small size of the keyboard. That is because it’s an iPad mini, so of course the keyboard isn’t anything close to full size. I’ve been typing for 50 years, make that closer to 60. I learned on an old manual typewriter and typed on those for years. all these little dinky keyboards with their lousy key travel etc. are not my idea of a good time. You may have better luck of course. Or you could have a separate keyboard that’s not a case, and then you’ll have more choices. There are not very many cases made with a keyboard in them for the mini. Bluetooth keyboards for iPads
Hello everyone, I am possibly getting an iPad for my birthday. Although, I am not 100 percent sure about this. I have wanted one for a while now. But I can do most things I want to do, on my phone. Plus, I don't really know how having one might help me. However, I certainly will make the best use of one, if it is something I get for my birthday. With all that said, does anyone know if they make bluetooth keyboards, that fit over an iPad? I guess that would likely be more of a keyboard case? I know years ago, they used to make something like this. As when I had an iPad Mini, for a short time, I had one of those. My other question is this. If you can use a bluetooth, keyboard case with an iPad, are there commands you can use, so that you aren't always having to use the screen? I think my hesitation with having an iPad, is that I know how slow I am, when it comes to a touch screen. I can do quite a bit with my phone. And I use it all the time. But when it comes to typing on it, I am rather slow at it. No amount of practice over the years, has really changed this. So I know it will be this way for me, if I am trying to use an iPad. As often as I can, I use my bluetooth keyboard with my phone, to type. Or I dictate. Any thoughts, or suggestions would be much appreciated. I would likely be getting an iPad Mini. As this is what I have talked about wanting, in the past. Thank you, Terri -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
