Re: Can you make Google maps more verbose?

2014-03-17 Thread Esubalew Johnston
Hi, Google Maps is about 95 percent accessible. You have to fiddle
with it before you get what you want. But you have to make sure you
select on what you want. First choose directions then select driving,
transit, walking, cycling. then either typing your address or go in
your history. then it should give you options.

Krister,
Are you walking, driving or riding public transit? This could be the
reason for your confusing directions. If you are not driving but
walking, then you might change your method of travel in the app's
settings. I haven't done this before so can't really describe how to
do it. I find Google Maps very helpful when my wife is driving and we
need directions on how to get somewhere.

Good luck,

If you put in a destination, you will find at least one estimated time, if that
seems reasonable, double tap on it. Then check near the top of the screen and
you will find driving, transit, bicycle, and walking modes to choose from.
Then, after selecting your mode, double tap on navigate.
If you want a text list of steps, double tap on the navigate menu and flick
until you find step-by-step list.

 Hi folks.
I've been trying to navigate a route using Blindsquare and Google maps as
my navigation aids, however my google maps aren't so talkative at all, in
fact the only thing it says is things like drive west, or drive north
and when i'm where i should be Google maps tells me that my destination is
on my left or right. Nothing like in so and so many meters, turn left
into whatsname street. Can i get such detailed instructions from Google
maps and could that be country dependent? I really hope it isn't but i
 don't know.
 Anyways thanks for any help.

Re: Can you make Google maps more verbose?

2014-03-14 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Hi,
I'm not in the States so the Seeing eye gps is therefore not an option and
neither are Motionx Gps-drive nor mapquest.

Perhaps someone else knows the answer to this. Also, perhaps Google
Maps is not the GPS app for you. If you're in the States, have you
checked out the new Seeing Eye GPS app?

 Krister,
Are you walking, driving or riding public transit? This could be the
reason for your confusing directions. If you are not driving but
walking, then you might change your method of travel in the app's
settings. I haven't done this before so can't really describe how to
do it. I find Google Maps very helpful when my wife is driving and we
need directions on how to get somewhere.

 Good luck,
 Wayne
