That gesture is not accessible. Hopefully Apple will come up with a way to
allow 6S and 6S Plus users to do this, I guess it couldn't hurt if people wrote
to accessibil...@apple.com and requested this.

No, I'm not able to do this either, I didn't even know it was an
option. Perhaps I'll call Apple Accessibility later and see if they
know whether it's supported. It will probably be quicker to use the
App Switcher though. I've certainly found this to be the case when
running split screen mode on
