I prefer a Midwest accent and have gotten to where I can sort of tell a
Minnesota accent.

I always enjoy voices with some kind of accent. I always thought here in the
Mid West, we don't really have much of an accent. Southern accents can be kind
of cool, but sometimes they can get annoying in my opinion. I think overall,
we have some great voices for our iPhone's to choose from.

I use Arthur the male Irish Siri voice on my iPhone SE 2020 & Apple Watch
series 5. He is very clear and pronounces everything fine, he is the clearest
out of them all. Are use this voice because I reside in Ireland. This is the
voice that I always wanted on my Apple Watch and I was delighted when it became
available last year.

Before I had my iPhone 7, I was limited to the male Siri voice for
Voiceover and Lee on my iPhone 5. In public, heads would turn when I
used Siri and it spoke in an Australian accent. Midwestern Americans
reacted like it was a foreign intrusion. I felt like screaming that
the man who recorded this voice has the same ancestry as I do. We just
sound different. There’s no need to freak out.

I use Alex on both my iPhone and Mac. He is the best voice out of all the other
voices in my opinion. I gave Siri female a try a couple days ago and 24 hours
later I just couldn’t stand her voice anymore! The way how she pronounces the

Hey that little guy inside the device has to be able to breath as well,

If you can hear it though,
Possibly he’s having an asthma attack

Just as with headsets, which voice to use is extremely subjective so you will
always get a lot of different answers. I prefer the female SIRI voice, of
course if I could have Eloquence that would be so fantastic, but I am afraid it
will never happen.
I dislike Alex for the exact reason most who use him as their voice like him,

Interesting that you should mention the breathing problem with Alex. I haven’t

Just as with headsets, which voice to use is extremely subjective so you will
always get a lot of different answers. I prefer the female SIRI voice, of
course if I could have Eloquence that would be so fantastic, but I am afraid it
will never happen.
I dislike Alex for the exact reason most who use him as their voice like him,
he sounds or tries to sound "too human" and I really couldn't care less if my
synthesizer can breath or not.

Just an observation. I had used Alex for a while, and went back to Samantha.
Today, because several of you have mentioned Tom, I decided to download and
try Tom. I like this voice. However, when using my Braille device, and
changing the braille output and input modes, I did notice that Tom doesn't
pronounce the letter t in the words "outpuut and input". But otherwise, I
like Tom's voice. Thanks.

Subject: Interesting discovery with Voiceover, and the Alex voice

Hello everyone,

I have the iPhone 12 mini. I have had it for a few months now. I love it!
Before I got it, I was using the 10 XR.

Anyway, I have noticed something odd. I can't say for certain when I
first noticed it. And I am also not quite sure if it is somehow my
phone, or the Voiceover voice of Alex.

But I have noticed that some words sound odd to me. I can't think of any
examples at the moment. And for this I do apologize. It seems though
that letters sound as though they are dropped. Or that the word is not
written correctly. Now I do tend to mis-spell a good deal, and I have to
go back and correct stuff.

However, the other day i was sending a text with a word in it that ended
in the letters E, D. I can't remember what the word was now, or I would
have just written it. But when I read my text back to make sure it was
correct, I had to view the word character by character, to make sure it
was correct.

It was. But Alex spoke it as though the d wasn't there.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does it happen with other voices?

I have tried other voices in the past. But I always come back to Alex.
It used to seem clearer to me.

What do you all think?

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

2021-04-25 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I always use the enhanced versions of the voices for voice over on my
iPhone. I'm currently using enhanced Australian Lee. He is a great
voice for voice over. I have used Tom before and he is also good.
Ava is also very good.

Re: Interesting discovery with Voiceover, and the Alex voice

2021-04-25 Thread Duane Steele
Just an observation. I had used Alex for a while, and went back to Samantha.
Today, because several of you have mentioned Tom, I decided to download and try
Tom. I like this voice. However, when using my Braille device, and changing the
braille output and input modes, I did notice that Tom doesn't pronounce the
letter t in the words "outpuut and input". But otherwise, I like Tom's voice.
Thanks.

Thank you,

Terri

I stopped using Alex because of those kind of strange pronunciation problems.
I use Tom Enhanced and don't find nearly the number of bad pronunciations.

Thank you,

Terri
