You can also just tell iTunes that a group of selected files are audio books
through the info menu thing in iTunes. I can't remember how to get to it now,
but I'm sure if you ask on the list, you'll get answers. I think it might be
ctrl+i.
Thanks,

Jerry,
Remember that VDR will use the name of the Zip file as the name of the book and
each mp3 file in the zip file will be the chapter names. So, you need to be
sure the mp3 file names will be in sequence. I always use leading zeros to make
sure they remain in order. like, 01, 02 etc.
Or, if
The one thing that does wonders with this is to access a free program such as
mp3to iPad audiobook converter. Then the iPhone knows it's a book and it'll go
in the right place.

Hello Jerry,
You have received some excellent tips in this thread.
Like you, I have many, many MP3 files that I enjoy reading as audio books.
I am a big fan of iTunes via Jaws for Windows.
As I am particularly resistant to third-party solutions unless absolutely
necessary, I use the

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my inquiry! I thought I had tried the
MP3 zipped file into VDR, but will try it again. I do use Bard on the phone,
and do buy audible books but have collected many hundreds of mp3 formatted
books and want to re-read some of them.
Thank you all so
Hi Jerry, if you get the Voice Dream Reader app, and have dropbox, you
can easily use dropbox to put .ZIP files into Voice Dream
reader, and then have all of the benifits of reading them on the phone,
just like the BARD app. You can even speed up or slow down the rate of
speech and it works
Jerry,
I'd agree with Sieghard that if you have mp3 audiobooks you're wanting to get
on your iPhone, Voice Dream Reader and Dropbox are the easiest solution. You
can copy the zipped mp3 books into an appropriate Dropbox folder on your
computer and easily add them to Voice Dream using the
Are these all Audible books?
Did you buy them through itunes or through Audible.
It sounds like you bought them through iTunes.
Since Apple has dropped the ball on accessibility with iTunes, I'd call the
Accessibility number and talk to them about a refund or some way to get them
off your
Hi Jerry,
I apologize, I didn't realize that you had audiobooks, that were not purchased
through Audible, on iTunes and that those were the ones you wanted to sync.
I just thought you were asking how to sync audiobooks in general. for
audiobooks not purchased on Audible, I am not sure how
Hi Daniel,
I am not sure if Jerry is talking about Audible books, based on his subject I
assume he is talking about just audio books in general, most likely MP3
formatted books.
Anyhow, I haven't synced audio books via iTunes in a long time since I much
prefer to use Voice Dream Reader to
Thanks for the info!
I can, and have, done this, but it really galls me to have to buy books that I
already own, just because iTunes is not accessible!! I did this for the entire
incarnations of immortality series by Piers Anthony, but do not want to re-buy
the thousands of books I already
Hi Jerry,
The easiest way I found is to download the Audible iOS app and log in using
your credentials. Whenever your credits arrive, simply log onto the site
through a computer, purchase your audiobooks and once the purchase is complete,
open the app on your iPhone and refresh. To Refresh,
Good afternoon everyone!
I am getting desperate now! I have tried everything I can find to get audio
books onto my iPhone. I even bought iExplore because it said you could
mount the folders like a windows drive, but no luck! I also bought the
JTunes scripts for iTunes, and can't get to the
