several apps which will do this and do this well. My personal favorite is plain
text. The free version has ads, but the paid version does not. It is a very
easy to use app which also has drop box and iTunes fileshari
Try PlainText. It is free, syncs with Dropbox and allows dictation etc.

There is an app that I have and use just for that. It is called Write 2. It has
a number 2 at then end.
