Hello Richard I usually use the Tessa South African English voice but I tried UK Daniel and US Samantha but the result is the same. I also changed to the font you suggested and I switched "detect language" on. The interesting fact is that my wife reads the text on the screen and she says

I just tried a couple books from my Kindle library on my iPad Mini 6 and had no trouble. 1. which voice are you using? 2. is that your default voice? 3. If it is, do you have detect language on under settings, VoiceOver, speech? 4. Which font did you change to? I had some trouble
