Re: Libratone Zipp speaker

Hi Anni.

I might get the Zipp speaker in the nearest future, and then I'll send lots of
information to you. If you don't already have done so, I'll recommend you to
read the FAQ on their website.

The Libratone Zipp is pretty small and designed as a portable speaker. It's
expensive but good quality, but I would not compare it to the Sonos system
because of its portability and airplay on the go.
This is a portable wireless airplay speaker like the others, but in great
and expensive quality. It can be used outdoors as well.
The other speakers sounds also great, but they are for the cheeper market.

 Hi Keith and Soren,

First of all, Keith, the website is fine, they just have these weird
numbers/graphics strings that Jaws reads before it actually says what the
 link is.

I had a quick look and I don't think you can compare this speaker which on
their US webstore is listed for $400 with a Jambox, probably not even a Big
Jambox and definitely not a $70 Beatbox or the Turtle Shell speaker from
 Outdoor Technology I posted about.

The Libratone would be something you would have to compare to a Sonos Play:5
or a BW Zeppelin Air and the Zip is actually their least expensive speaker,
they also make one called Live which I think was $550 or $600 and another
one I can't remember the name which is $1,300. These do sound like nice
speakers and are probably very good, but like I said, they are targeted at a
 very different market.

I already have my Sonos system everywhere in the house and personally are
looking more for something very small and portable which sounds great for
books, has a speakerphone in case I want to charge my phone yet move around
and something I can throw in my backpack when I'm travelling. The reason why
I am going to get the Turtle Shell speaker is mainly because it is made
actually by a company that focuses on making a rugged product that can be
used outdoors, it's made to withstand a bit of abuse whether it's a drop or
a shower while it's sitting on the picknick table.

Amazon has Libratone Zipp for $449.00. Don't know if this is the same
 product package you're talking about.

 Hi all.

I don't remember if those have been discussed here on the list before. If
they have, I'll look back in the archive to see what people have said about
 them.

Does someone have any experiences with this speaker? They sounds really
amazing, with lots of nice features, great design and great sound. Libratone
is a danish company, and the speakers are being soled world wide.
The FAQ which is enough for me to fully understand how it all works and
their website in generel is totally accessible. The setup and configuration
of the speaker seems to be totally accessible as well, and they have an
iPhone app which I can't use without the speaker, but the things I can reach
in the app is fully accessible. The firmware can be updated through the app
 which I find amazing.
All information, specs etc is described on their website, which I find
really fantastic. It all seems really accessible out of the box, unlike many
new devices which needs to be configured etc.
Take a look on their website and let me know what you think:
