Re: Safari reopening pages

2013-08-25 Thread RobH!
I just tried it, and it's not just like that. If it kept the little window
open for you to close all the tags you liked until you clicked Done, it
would be Ok. But it closes and pulls in the next page, not out of history,
but off the connection. Thisis the most irritating misuse of your limited
bandwidth. An Edit type interaction where you go down, tab them all, those
you want to close at least, and then a button to Close(##) would work a
treat.

Like I said, there needs to be a better way, other parts of the system

Use a left finger so when you find it, keepit still and touch with another

Your reply demonstrates that I am not communicating properly. When you are
flicking through a page, you are not locating the button's actual physical
location on the touchscreen. If you know where the button is physically on
the screen, you just need to touch that spot again to be on the button
again. Placing your finger on the actual physical location of the button
uses spatial orientation. Flicking to the button utilises serial computer
navigation, not physical spatial orientation.

Ok David, figured out what you were trying to convey.

Using the close button as you have described it below is a bit slow and kind
of a pain for me. Again, for me, just me.

After experimenting, I did find that using my swiping technique is faster
and results are more consistent and easily replicated.
1. I launched about 10 Google searches using Siri.
2. I then went about closing each webpage.
3. I placed my finger right above the Home button then swiped to the right
to the pages button. I double-tapped on this Pages button.
4. I once again placed my finger right above the Home button on the screen
and slightly to the left (11:30 o clock), and I landed on New page.
5. I swiped 3 times to the left until I landed on Close page button. I
double-tapped on this Close button. the webpage closed.
6. I once again placed my index finger right above the Home button, and I
swiped to the left 3 times. I double-tapped on Close button.
7. I repeated steps 5 and 6 until I closed all remaining webpages.
8. I know all webpages have been closed because I do not hear new page, I
now hear Utilities whenever I place my finger right above the Home button.

Thanks for sticking with me and showing me your technique. In this case, I
get better results swiping. :)

On my iPhone 5, the close button is a small button just below the address
line which is between the two images. The close button is on the left side,
indented a little, about one third down the page. I believe Apple made the
button small so sighted people would not accidentally activate it.

Actually, it is just like multiple windows in any computer internet browser.
Just double-tap the pages button in the lower right corner to start closing

Re: Safari reopening pages

2013-08-24 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Well, depending on how it is set up, in Internet Explorer one would have to
press altF4 repeatedly to close each open window. One can also set up
Internet Explorer to be prompted to close all windows at once. In your
description below, it seems as though you are suggesting one can repeatedly
double-tap Pages to quickly close Safari windows.
To close windows in Safari, I have found one needs to double-tap the Pages
button to access each page then left swipe about 3 times and double-tap on
Close. this closing procedure has to be performed on each open webpage. I
think the original person wanted to know how to close all Safari Windows at
once. I'm definitely wondering if this is possible too.

Once in the pages area, I only have to double-tap repeatedly on the close page

This is very effective when a person explores the screen rather than just
relying on flicking. The pages control window remains open until closed.

Is there anyone else who can replicate the claim below? I like to think I
have good visual/spatial abilities,, but I can't easily nor quickly find the

closes a page, I'm then placed on a spot on the webpage where I have to once
again have to flick to hunt down the close button as I stated in my previous

Re: Safari reopening pages

2013-08-24 Thread David Chittenden
Your reply demonstrates that I am not communicating properly. When you are
flicking through a page, you are not locating the button's actual physical
location on the touchscreen. If you know where the button is physically on the
screen, you just need to touch that spot again to be on the button again.
Placing your finger on the actual physical location of the button uses spatial
orientation. Flicking to the button utilises serial computer navigation, not
physical spatial orientation.

Re: Safari reopening pages

2013-08-24 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Well, I stated as clearly as I could that one can't easily find the close
button so one has to resort to swiping to locate the close button when using
Safari. I have very good success placing my index finger on or very close to
most items within the Settings menu without having to swipe to locate the
item. (In short, I don't know what question you are trying to answer.) At
this point I'm going to let it go because I can't make my point any clearer.
No one else has stated that finding the close button is at pixel X and Y
(Exaggeration), so I'm going to assume I'm not alone. (Smile).

On my iPhone 5, the close button is a small button just below the address line
which is between the two images. The close button is on the left side, indented
a little, about one third down the page. I believe Apple made the button small
so sighted people would not accidentally activate it.

Once in the pages area, I only have to double-tap repeatedly on the close
page button. Knowing where the close page button is on the screen is a
 very
big benefit. The power of the touchscreen is that one gets a
 two-dimensional
view. This is very effective when a person explores the screen rather than
just relying on flicking. The pages control window remains open until
 closed.

To close windows in Safari, I have found one needs to double-tap the
 Pages
button to access each page then left swipe about 3 times and double-tap
 on
Close. this closing procedure has to be performed on each open webpage.
 I
think the original person wanted to know how to close all Safari Windows

Actually, it is just like multiple windows in any computer internet
 browser.
Just double-tap the pages button in the lower right corner to start
 closing
windows. It is just like closing tabs or windows in modern browsers.

2013-08-24 Thread Joseph FreeTech

On iOs double tap the pages button at the bottom of the screen, then
double tap the close button on all pages displayed. Eventually you will
see a screen with untitled, the address bar, the search field, etc.
