Hello Sieghard

I have no problem with anyone discussing anything as long as Mark our moderator 
approves it.

The more we discuss the more likely problems can be discovered and hopefully 
resolved.

However, you may have forgotten my posting about the Music app some years ago 
at that time you were quite vocal in your criticism of my posting about beta 
software.

To reiterate I’ve no problem with anyone discussing anything I’m a list member 
and not a self-appointed moderator.

Hi Malcolm,

I get the reasoning, but there is little point in posting if there is a good 
chance the issue might be caused by the iOS beta since now this has generated 
several messages where people explain to you how you first have to open the 
message before you can comment as well as one where the poster explains there 
is no issue.
If you are in the habit of participating in public betas and feel posting about 
apps not behaving as expected when you are using a Beta version is not 
appropriate here, it might be a good idea to join a group discussing iOS beta 
software.

Then it seems to be dependend on ios16.4 which is in beta. I cannot reproduce 
the bug at all with ios 16.3.1 and I have tested it profoundly.
But it is very clever to encourage people to report bugs to distributors of 
third party apps very few visually impaired people do that.

My not mentioning what version of iOS I am running was a deliberate act and not 
an omission.  No matter what we think should be the position regarding 
discussion of beta software the decision is Mark’s and out of deference and 
respect to him I chose not to mention it.

Until Facebook fixes it, you can access it through your browser. I am using 
Brave on all of my devices, including iOS and that works extremely well. In 
some cases, it even works better than the app itself.

Personally I don't think there is a problem with mentioning something like this 
if you are running a public beta version; it is, after all a "public" beta. The 
problem happens when suddenly half the list traffic were about public betas, in 
this case it would be better to join a beta discussion group.

I believe this was introduced with 16.4 public beta unless a later Facebook 
update also means this applies to 16.3.1.
For now I just use Facebook on my computer if I want to comment on somebody's 
post.
I reported this to Facebook, not sure if they have to fix the app or if it is 
strictly because of something in iOS 16.4, but ultimately Facebook probably 
needs to fix it and hopefully many others report it to them.

Hello Penny,

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately no matter what I try I cannot get the 
keyboard to appear at all.

If I open a post and double tap the Comment Button, VoiceOver says “editing 
insertion point at start” but there’s no keyboard.

I’ve deleted the Facebook app and redownloaded it.  I’ve restarted my iPhone 
but to no avail.

This problem has only occurred recently.

Any thoughts welcome, thanks again.
