RE: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread R Van Lant
When I had to restore my phone, BARD books had not been backed up to the Cloud.
So, the best way to find what I wanted was to go into the recently downloaded
option under Get books and find any book I wanted to add again.

I don't know how Apple Music handles things, but I know that an iTunes backup
never backed up music. When I restored from the backup of my iPhone 5 to the
iPhone six, it had to retrieve the actual music tracks from the music on my
computer, not from the backup itself. If you are talking about music in Apple
music, I'll bet those tracks will stream from the cloud, you will have to
download them again if you want them downloaded. If you are talking about
tracks that you put onto your phone yourself, it seems that they would have
been restored from your computer. Otherwise, unless you have iTunes Match and
they are in the cloud, they are probably gone. I hope not.

If you are streaming music, and have not downloaded it, the Settings, general,
About, will not show any songs, because none are on the device.
I suspect the music app will show what is available, but available when online,

You may have to do a full sync with your computer to get them all on the phone.
Good luck.

Hi Sieghard,

BARD Support is well aware of the shortcomings of the existing system regarding
the inability of previously downloaded BARD books to transfer to a new iDevice.
They are in process of converting to a cloud based system which will address

Well, doing the phone to phone wireless transfer copied the 12,000 plus songs

If you now sync with your phone via iTunes, and have sync music checked, you

RE: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
They don't hav eto back up your music if it is music available via Apple Music,
but they should backup the state of the flag which indicates whether a track or
album is downloaded to your device and when you restore then any music you had
previously downloaded should also get downloaded again without a lengthy manual
process. Anyways, it seems that with Quick Transfer any music you had
downloaded is transferred to your new device so that would definitely be the
way to go.

It is much more efficient on their end. Why should they back up the tracks you
have on your specific device when they already have those tracks somewhere else
in their system? As for your case, if the music you had on your phone is on the
computer where you had the backup, it should have transferred it again from

Right.
Was the stored backup on your computer or iCloud?

If iCloud, I have no idea. Unless you took advantage of the extra storage with
iOS 15 for backups and did a backup again under 15 to get everything backed up,
then iCloud doesn’t do the music.

If you did it via USB and your computer, as I said before, you have to leave it
plugged in an extra long time until all the files are copied which is almost
impossible to tell easily with a screen reader. Even then, in the past, I had
to sync again after restoring from a backup to get all my music over.

If all else fails, ask the Apple Accessibility team, 877-240-3930. When I
called Saturday evening, I only had about a 30 second wait to talk with someone.

Best of luck,

Anyways, I thought if you have them in Voice Dream Reader that it can back up

As for keeping your iPhone 8 forever I am afraid that unfortunately won't be
possible, I don't think once you get to around 6 or 7 years you'll have much
joy with it.

That is a big negative on the bard books for sure. I have no idea about the
music. That not transferring of bard books is so annoying.
I will be keeping my iPhone 8 forever as long as NLS won't transfer or backup
your bard books to a new iPhone or other device like an iPad or any other
device. It is so frustrating.

Re: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I hope not.

2021-09-27 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
If you’re using Apple Music then What I suspect is that all your albums have
been restored to your library but their contents have not been downloaded.

I think this is what happened to me although this was some time ago.

RE: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Richard Turner

Richard

If you are streaming music, and have not downloaded it, the Settings, general,
About, will not show any songs, because none are on the device.
I suspect the music app will show what is available, but available when online,
as Malcolm said.

This is all about a known bug of which Apple is aware, just like the unlock
problem of Apple watches with iphone 13 models, we all have to wait for
ios15.01 which will come out soon or better staying for a while on ios14 like I

It sounds like the albums are in your library but the songs are not actually
downloaded.

If you double-tap on an album you should have a Download Button. Double-tap
Download then your phone should report that you have songs stored on it.

Re: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
You don’t have to download music to play it provided you have an internet
connection.

If you want to play music when you are offline or you don’t want to use up your
data allowance then the music has to be downloaded.

Sometimes I want to play music when not on wifi and at the time I had a limited
data allowance so I would download music but now my plan is unlimited I don’t
bother.

Re: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Richard Turner
That is why I do the direct wireless transfer from the old phone to the new.
I have over 12000 songs on my phone and when the transfer was pinished in under
an hour they were all on the new phone.
If you used iTunes with a USB cable you would have had to wait several hours
for the songs to finish transfering.
You may have to do a full sync with your computer to get them all on the phone.
Good luck.
You could also call Apple Accessibility to get some assistance if needed.

It sounds like the albums are in your library but the songs are not actually
downloaded.

If you double-tap on an album you should have a Download Button. Double-tap

Re: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Amy Ruell
Hello,
Oddly, if I go to music on my phone, I see albums there. However, the songs
list on the phone its self under settings and about says songs zero.

Re: Updated and restored from backup, no music or bard books

2021-09-27 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
That is a big negative on the bard books for sure. I have no idea
about the music. That not transferring of bard books is so annoying.
I will be keeping my iPhone 8 forever as long as NLS won't transfer or
backup your bard books to a new iPhone or other device like an iPad or
any other device. It is so frustrating.
