are the benefits of having location services turned on?
I turned it off to all but the most obvious, like the gps apps, and then set
it to only be on on demand so to speak, not all the
time. I certainly took out adware that wants to send you location-targetted
ads, and various stuff like
Location services are used by much more than just GPS. As mentioned
before, if you use Uber, Lyft or another taxi requesting service, they
need your location; if you like TuneIn Radio or iHeart Radio, and want
stations from your area to show up, that uses location services; if
you download an app
Weather aps, Yelp, AroundMe, Retail Me Not, Amazon Local, Nextdoor, Uber/Lyft
and so on. Just go through your apps individually and turn off the ones you
don’t' need locations services for. You'll probably have an overall better
experience that way instead of a blanket disabling of the service.
