Re: audible books on mp3 players

2020-07-07 Thread Marie
I tried to download the Open Audible program and either Defender or the Edge
browser, stopped it saying it was potentially harmful to my system? I
aborted the download. These days, it is too easy to get crap so it is not
worth the risk to me.

thing.

Agreed, but for some people, the fact that the enhanced files take
almost twice the memory, it causes a storage issue.

I've used the enhanced mode since it became available because of the
quality of the sound.

But, I also do not save everything on my personal storage, I leave it
in the Amazon cloud.

torrent sites that are known for hiding trojan viruses in their executable

So, since it is no longer being developed, it should not be recommended.
Too many novices will grab something and end up with a virus in their computer.
Just my opinion.

Agreed, but for some people, the fact that the enhanced files take
almost twice the memory, it causes a storage issue.

I've used the enhanced mode since it became available because of the
quality of the sound.

But, I also do not save everything on my personal storage, I leave it

Hi Richard. With total respect, what you have heard is nonsense.

I know many people, who convert there books to mp3, using the inaudible
program. and they have done so, for many years, without any issues.

A lot of people, have expensive, dedicated book players, like the victor
stream, and the booksense, and other machines too.

If they wish to play their books, on their devices, then they have no choice
but to convert them.

all the best,

Thanks for the article on best audible converters. However, don't buy
the Epubor program. I just spent $31 and it isn't very screenreader
accessible and it doesn't work all that well like it claims. I tried
converting an audible book and it didn't even convert the entire book.
Only a portion of it. I'm going to see if I can get my money back.

So, since it is no longer being developed, it should not be recommended.

Everything I've read says it is not just one program, but you have to put
together several pieces.
Could you say more and give a resource?

RE: audible books on mp3 players

2020-07-07 Thread Richard Turner
Since this is a hot topic right now, I did some investigating about converting
audible books to other formats.
Someone had mentioned something called Inaudible. I would recommend against
that because it is not a program as such and is apparently prone to be a
mechanism for infecting machines with trojan viruses. Plus it is a combination
of utilities with no accountable source according to a couple articles I've
read.

Here is a link to an article from February of this year on 5 different options
for audible book conversion.
I have no idea if any of this will work, but just offer it as a potential
resource.
I have probably all the books I will be buying from audible in my Audible
library.
Here is the link.

It really does make a difference between format 4 and enhanced. Yes,
I know that enhanced does sound a bit better, but I like format 4
because it is smaller. I just today downloaded a 3 book series that
in format 4 was around one gig in size. If I had downloaded this book
in the enhanced format, it would have been 2 gigs. Saving an entire
gig when I downloaded my 3 books isn't insignificant.

Hi!!
I used to have an iphone 5s with only 16 gigs of memory too.
I would just download the books I wanted to listen to and then delete
them
back off of the device. They just remain in the cloud until you
download
them again.
However, it is possible to download the books on to an mp 3 player.
However,
you have to have one that can read protected files, maybe an ipod or
victor
streme or something along those lines. Otherwise, you are going to
have
to
convert the files in to a non-protected format. I think you need
special
software to do this. Anyway, in order to download the files, you need
to
download the audible software and then you just go to your library on
the
audible website and download the items. Then you open the audible
software
and copy the books from there and copy them to your player.
If you need help, you can always call audible, they are always very
helpful
and can walk you through the process.
Oh one more thing, you could also use a kindle fire tablet, it has an
audible app preinstalled on it and its accessible, and very
affordable.
You
could download store and listen to audible books there with ease.

Agreed, but for some people, the fact that the enhanced files take almost twice
the memory, it causes a storage issue.
I've used the enhanced mode since it became available because of the quality of
the sound.
But, I also do not save everything on my personal storage, I leave it in the
Amazon cloud.

Re: audible books on mp3 players

2020-07-06 Thread Marie
There is no need to re-download the books which were previously downloaded
as Format 4. They will continue to play on the devices you have been using.
This change only means you will use Enhanced in the future.

But, as i said earlier. Soon, he will have no choice, as format 4, is being
discontinued.

streme or something along those lines. Otherwise, you are going to have to
convert the files in to a non-protected format. I think you need special
software to do this. Anyway, in order to download the files, you need to
download the audible software and then you just go to your library on the

Re: audible books on mp3 players

2020-07-06 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
It really does make a difference between format 4 and enhanced. Yes,
I know that enhanced does sound a bit better, but I like format 4
because it is smaller. I just today downloaded a 3 book series that
in format 4 was around one gig in size. If I had downloaded this book
in the enhanced format, it would have been 2 gigs. Saving an entire
gig when I downloaded my 3 books isn't insignificant.

Quality 4 which is very good, most Audible books are only 150 or 200 Mb, even

Hi!!
I used to have an iphone 5s with only 16 gigs of memory too.
I would just download the books I wanted to listen to and then delete them back
off of the device. They just remain in the cloud until you download them again.
However, it is possible to download the books on to an mp 3 player. However,
you have to have one that can read protected files, maybe an ipod or victor
streme or something along those lines. Otherwise, you are going to have to
convert the files in to a non-protected format. I think you need special
software to do this. Anyway, in order to download the files, you need to
download the audible software and then you just go to your library on the
audible website and download the items. Then you open the audible software and

If you need help, you can always call audible, they are always very helpful and
