Personally I use Thunderbird. It works very well with Jaws and NVDA.
It is bit complicated to set it up, there are tones of options and
settings but once it's done, you have a client for a lifetime. I
prefer TB because I can back it up and restore on any other machine
th NVDA as well, better than with
window-eyes actually.

You could use the gmail web interface. It's pretty accessible in html
view and should work with NVDA.

I'd like to recommend you Outlook 2010. I don't know if you can still
purchase it from Microsoft. But it's very easy to use.
I don't use it with NVDA but I think it'll be accessible too.
