Re: cannot buy Kindle books using the Amazon app

2018-08-12 Thread Vicky Collins
I'm kind of new to all this myself. But best I can tell, if you have a
subscription to Kindle Unlimited, $9.99 a month in the United States, then you
can download the books that are currently available through that program
directly through the Kindle app. After all, grin, you would have paid your
subscription to read them, or be on the 30 day trial as I am. Then too, and I
found this out kind of by accident, but you can also download books available
through the Prime Reading program directly through the Kindle app. The free
Prime Reading option is a benefit given to Prime members. You aren't actually
buying the books in both of these cases, you are just borrowing them, but there
is no due date to return them. I don't know how many books you can borrow at a
time with Prime Reading, but they say you can have as many as 10 at a time with
Kindle Unlimited. Then once you return some or all of the books you borrowed,
you are free to get more books. Since only certain books are available through
these programs, and what's available may very well change from time to time, it
is quite possible that the book you want to read may not be available through
one or both of these programs. Then you would need to go to the web browser if
you wanted to then purchase the book.

Re: cannot buy Kindle books using the Amazon app

2018-08-12 Thread Russ Kiehne
Here is how I buy Kindle books. From the book: Kindle for iOS Accessibility
Gestures - Quick Reference Guide

Kindle Store: Buy & Download to your iOS Device

You can shop from the Kindle Store using the Safari browser and deliver Kindle
titles to the Kindle reading app on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Your
device must be connected to a wireless or data network in order to download
Kindle content to your Kindle reading app.

>From the Safari browser, visit the Kindle Store website:

· iPad: www.amazon.com/ipadkindlestore

· iPhone or iPod touch: www.amazon.com/kindlemobilestore

1. Sign in to the Kindle Store with the same Amazon account you used when you
registered the Kindle reading app. Browse for Kindle titles you want to read,
and then tap to view the product detail page.

2. To send the Kindle title to your device, from the Send wirelessly to
drop-down menu, select your device. If you don't see your device, make sure you
signed in with the Amazon account registered to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod
touch.

3. Tip: Tap Try a Sample to download the beginning of a book for free.

4. After you purchase content, your titles are delivered to the Kindle app on
your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Check your cloud tab.

As far as I've known, there hasn't been a button to purchase from the app ever.
The issue is that if an app sells something, then Apple gets a portion, and so

I am sure Amazon would love to sell Kindle books through the Kindle and Amazon
apps, but they aren't willing to pay Apple I think it is about30 percent.
After all, Apple wants you to buy and read that book through IBooks.

Re: cannot buy Kindle books using the Amazon app

2018-08-11 Thread Paul Ferrara
To be clear, I don’t mean the Kindle app but the regular Amazon shopping app
where I can buy anything else from Amazon.
You have never been able to buy from the Kindle app; I mean the regular Amazon
app where I could, but now can no longer, buy Kindle books.

As far as I've known, there hasn't been a button to purchase from the app ever.
The issue is that if an app sells something, then Apple gets a portion, and so
Amazon directs you to its website.

RE: cannot buy Kindle books using the Amazon app

2018-08-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Exactly, I think this used to be possible, but no longer and not for a long
time, same as Audible.
