The 6 works normally with many other recording apps. So does the 5 and 7, but they end up being in a very wide, almost too wide stereo mode unless you use the app that Zoom makes. Hi Joanne, I highly recommend the Zoom IQ6. Sound quality is very good. It records in stereo and connects to the lightning port of your iDevice. The microphone includes a headphone socket, so you can plug headphones into that and still hear VO while you're recording. It comes with a pretty good wind screen, and you can buy an even better one if you're going to be doing a lot of serious recording outdoors. Joanne, They will all work with most apps. The only thing is, the MS microphones do not really do what they should do unless you use the Zoom App. The IQ6, however, records just beautifully on any recording app I own. I have not had any experience with the other microphones you mention. Ari, it is not the microphone that decides the drop box issue, it is the recording app. Many of them will export to drop box. For my taste, the IQ5 is a bit too much of a pinched sound. The 6 is XY and the stereo spread is nice. The 7 is MS and if you use the HandiRec app from Zoom, and have a way to post process. You can control the stereo spread and even make it wider. I like the sound of the 7 best and it is the quietest. RE: external mic for iPhone/iPad
Richard, I have it already. It's not a cable. It is a plastic piece with a female lightning connector on one end and a male lightning connecter on the other. You obviously plug the microphone into the female connecter and plug the male end into the phone. It has two pieces. The second piece is something that goes around the male end and in a way, shortens the male end. It actually doesn't shorten it, it just places an object in the path. This is in case you have a shorter case and don't want the microphone just hanging out there in space on a thin piece of plastic. You take it off for cases that are thicker. And, by the way, I wish people hadn't started referring to plugs as male and female. But, I guess people get the picture. RE: external mic for iPhone/iPad
Here is the link for the case adapter I referenced in my previous message. http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Accessories-Functionality-dockStubz-CableJive/dp/B00KH08E1A/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&keywords=dockStubz%20for%20Lightning%20by%20C&qid=1426976354&ref_=mp_s_a_1_fkmr1_1&sr=8-1-fkmr1 It will likely rap because it is a long link, so you may have to cut and paste if it doesn't work. external mic for iPhone/iPad
Hi all, I'm in need of doing some field recording for an audio project that i'm involve in. However, i'm hoping i can uterlise my iphone6+ as much as i can for this project. Just wondering, have anyone come across any external mic and the pro audio recordin apps that might work? I'm trying out the Rode Rec Le app, it is accessible with the main home screen, however, when you press 'add button', it freezes the phone with voiceover turn on. It can work just fine without vo though. Any other idea? Joanne -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
