Hi Donna;
That podcast is just the tip of the iceberg.
I have been listening to Mike's podcasts for a couple of years and, they are
really amazing!

I, for one, would definitely appreciate, and enjoy, an update. I appreciate
your willingness to do it.
Thanks.

If you do it, please remember those of us that use the i-touch with a

Hopefully there are still systems out there that downloads the maps...
Many thanks,

Some of them do store the maps locally, but use data plans for other things
such as doing google and four square searches. So, these apps could be used
without a data plan, but you would lose a lot of the benefit.

Speaking for myself, I have found all of the podcasts you have
undertaken to be among the most valuable I know of. I also realize that
this is a big undertaking, so I will offer my production and editing
skills, which are admittedly a bit rusty, to make the task less

Oh please do, and could I ask you to add native maps? Know nothing about GPS
but want to learn. Thanks for this undertaking if you do it. Have taught this
old dog much with all the podcasts on applevis and elsewhere!

Hi,
It would be interesting, however keep in mind that many of the gps apps are
only available in certain parts of the world, and so aren't relevant to people
in those parts of the world. I'd be interested to hear a comparison of Garmin
and Navigon.

Oh, made a typo there, it should be that some gps apps aren't available to

Hope you catch my drift.

Thanks for the kind words. If I do this one, it would be with 5 apps,
the new google maps, navigon, garmin, TomTom, and motion x GPS drive. I
know mapquest is also free but the interface in this app is difficult
to work with and very confusing I think. For figuring out where you

Actually Apple maps does not provide walking instructions, at least not
in real time and that's what I would be focused on. All of these apps
work well for driving directions, the real question is, how well would
they work to assist a blind person who was trying to walk to a destination?
I would be interested in listening to your pod cast.

Supposedly maps does give walking directions. Saw someone talk about it doing
so yesterday and saw in app where you can tap walking directions. Still would
be helpful even without maps. Smiles.

I also think this would be good to see. I've been wondering about MotionX

Does garmin provide navigation for walking. I bought it long ago, and I really

It's supposed to, there is an option to have voice guidance while
