RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-11 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Tempo have an 8 hour battery life,
Tenor have a 5 hour battery life.

As for size,
No real size difference but the shape is different,
The tempo wrap around the face / eyes and have a longer arm which wraps back
further around the head so they are more secure on your face while you wear
them if exercising / running / cycling etc.

And the tenors are more straight across the face with a slight bend in them to
cover the eye,

Really it comes down to
Tempo is a sportie model,
Tenor is a fashion accessorie

Yeah don't have those issues but the only thing that hasn't worked for me is
Hey siri unless I hold the button on the phone or the phone to my face,

But I do get a couple of phone calls and playing media out of the frames in a
day with a lot to remain.

I was originally very interested in the Bose Tempos but held back due to fear
that they just wouldn't last a whole day of normal every day use like making
and receiving several phone calls, occasional streaming, and frequent Siri
usage. I don't mind recharging every night but running out of battery during
the day would be a deal breaker for me. I wear sun glasses every day for
several hours a day.

What has been your experience in terms of battery life? I'd be interested in
anyone else's experience regarding the Bose Tempo Frames.

No actually I can't say which one I like better as thee sound is pretty much
identical and I don't have them on for long enough to worry about the battery
life dying on me.

So each one has it's moments,
Such as if it's raining or I'm out walking I'll use the tempo's if it's sunny
I'll go with the tenors.

RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-10 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I skipped over the alto,
And got the tenor and the tempo and I do love them.

I've just walked home from own listening to Tool,
Most people would say it's careless but hey so long as I'm able to hear traffic
I'm ok.

Ther are several models and Amazon is the best resource.

They are not very good for music if you want a quality sound.
They are primarily designed for people doing
things outdoors so they can hear their surroundings.
They are marketed to runners, joggers, and other
outdoor activities where being aware of your surroundings is important.
After they were out for a while, they were made
aware that they can also help visually impaired
people stay safe when walking outdoors.

The last I heard the Aeropex were their most
recent model with 8 hours of battery life, but
someone just mentioned one with 16 hours of talk time.
Just be sure if you buy some to try out, you
have time to return them for a refund if they don't work for you.

I've got a 7" 3/8 noggin and for me, the Aeropex are way way more
comfortable than previous models. Lighter, more flexible and over all,
a better fit. Not a perfect fit, but better
than the Trekz, Titanium or Bluez.

I've come across other bone conduction headsets online, but the
Aftershokz line seems to be the gold standard in this space. The
Aeropex don't seem to vibrate as much as the Trekz, but being bone
conduction, it's not like you should expect high fidelity sound or
anything. It's just impossible with this technology. I use these bad
boys all day throughout the day and for working out. Microphone for
calls is at best adequate and dictation can be an exercise in
frustration too. But, tradeoffs and all that.
These are the headphones I use most over all.

Amazon retails them, but they don't always give you the best price. i
bought mine from the AT Guys. They sometimes offer discounts, especially on
models that are not necessarily the latest, but are completely functional.

Ther are several models and Amazon is the best resource.

They are not very good for music if you want a quality sound.
They are primarily designed for people doing things outdoors so they can
hear their surroundings.
They are marketed to runners, joggers, and other outdoor activities where
being aware of your surroundings is important.
After they were out for a while, they were made aware that they can also
help visually impaired people stay safe when walking outdoors.

The last I heard the Aeropex were their most recent model with 8 hours of
battery life, but someone just mentioned one with 16 hours of talk time.
Just be sure if you buy some to try out, you have time to return them for a

There will be some that work and some that don’t.

The issue really sits in not being able to try them out before you buy them.

Hi kay,
Complain all you wish. I don’t like them because they don’t fit on my head and
the sound quality is truly only best for speech, and yes, you can hear them if
you are close to a person wearing them.
It is tricky getting them on the bone in front of your ear. Maybe if I didn’t
have sideburns and not quite as fat of a head, they’d be better.

HI Richard,
This is not a complaint, just the facts. I have never gotten any kind of the
Aftershokz to work for me. I have had people show me the best ways to wear
them and still not good. If I put the pads right over my ears, then no
problem. But that is not how they are supposed to work. I just laugh and tell
people that I am not bone headed enough. Then you have people that say there
is no sound loss with them but yet I can stand next to them when they are
wearing them and hear what they are listening to. Just for me, and in my
opinion they don't work.

RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-10 Thread Simon A Fogarty
My older brother who doesn’t have sight issues just purchased a pair of the
newest after shockz headphones and he loves them when out in the garden or
cycling / running

I myself purchased a set of bose tenor frames which I love and in my mind work
better than the after shockz,

They have great sounds for both voice including phone calls and or listening
to voiceover from my phone and also music while I’m walking around the city or
out in the quieter parts of town.

There is also the bose tempo frames as well which are more of a wrap around
sports shades with a better battery life and an as good sound quality

The only problem really with the bose frames is the cost at twice the price of
the after shockz
Although the NZ pricing is double what the price is in the usA.

If you get a headset from blueparrot, you'll find that their microphones are
great, and those tend to be used by truckers. I mean, call quality depends on

The only trouble is that the microphones on the Aftershokz is passable at
best, not what I would call high quality, so sometimes, your speech may not be
understood, but most of the time, it's fine.

I’ve got a 7” 3/8 noggin and for me, the Aeropex are way way more comfortable
than previous models. Lighter, more flexible and over all, a better fit. Not a
perfect fit, but better than the Trekz, Titanium or Bluez. I’ve come across
other bone conduction headsets online, but the Aftershokz line seems to be the
gold standard in this space. The Aeropex don’t seem to vibrate as much as the
Trekz, but being bone conduction, it’s not like you should expect high fidelity
sound or anything. It’s just impossible with this technology. I use these bad
boys all day throughout the day and for working out. Microphone for calls is at
best adequate and dictation can be an exercise in frustration too. But,
tradeoffs and all that. These are the headphones I use most over all.

Don’t know the difference because I don’t have the Trekx and just got my
Aeropix the day before yesterday. I am quite pleased with them after being so
disappointed with the Titanium model, They are softer and more flexible, have
much better sound and microphone and I love the magnetic charging cables
included. I was considering trying the Bose Frames and realize they would have
better sound but these will work quite well for me and over $100 less.

I'm currently using the Trekz model and just curious if they're more

Hello,

Yes, the first sound is cut off, unfortunately, with the Aeropex, and so
far as I know, this has been the case for Aftershokz products for the past
couple of years or so.

1.. Using the multi function button to involk siri doesn’t work

I’m wondering if you have run into either one of these issues with the

I’d appreciate any thoughts on this. I’ve already done things like
forgetting and re-pairing the headset and also have done a reset as well.
Unfortunately not working with Siri is a deal breaker for me but I really like

regarding these issues.

The only trouble is that the microphones on the Aftershokz is passable at
best, not what I would call high quality, so sometimes, your speech may not
be understood, but most of the time, it's fine.

I’ve got a 7” 3/8 noggin and for me, the Aeropex
are way way more comfortable than previous
models. Lighter, more flexible and over all, a
better fit. Not a perfect fit, but better than
the Trekz, Titanium or Bluez. I’ve come across
other bone conduction headsets online, but the
Aftershokz line seems to be the gold standard in
this space. The Aeropex don’t seem to vibrate as
much as the Trekz, but being bone conduction,
it’s not like you should expect high fidelity
sound or anything. It’s just impossible with
this technology. I use these bad boys all day
throughout the day and for working out.
Microphone for calls is at best adequate and
dictation can be an exercise in frustration too.
But, tradeoffs and all that. These are the headphones I use most over all.

being so disappointed with the Titanium model,
They are softer and more flexible, have much
better sound and microphone and I love the
magnetic charging cables included. I was
considering trying the Bose Frames and realize
they would have better sound but these will work
quite well for me and over $100 less.

Hi kay,
Complain all you wish. I don't like them because they don't fit on my head and
the sound quality is truly only best for speech, and yes, you can hear them if
you are close to a person wearing them.
It is tricky getting them on the bone in front of your ear. Maybe if I didn't
have sideburns and not quite as fat of a head, they'd be better.

Ther are several models and Amazon is the best resource.

They are not very good for music if you want a quality sound.
They are primarily designed for people doing things outdoors so they can hear
their surroundings.
They are marketed to runners, joggers, and other outdoor activities where being
aware of your surroundings is important.
After they were out for a while, they were made aware that they can also help
visually impaired people stay safe when walking outdoors.

The last I heard the Aeropex were their most recent model with 8 hours of
battery life, but someone just mentioned one with 16 hours of talk time.
Just be sure if you buy some to try out, you have time to return them for a
refund if they don't work for you.

So I've ehard a ton about these aftershokz, where do you get them, are
there several different models? How are they in terms of listening to
on line music streams, stuff like that?

Cheers,

Thanks for all the feedback.
As I said, they don't fit.
Thanks, I won't be getting any bone conduction headphones since all the reviews
point to Aftershokz and the secondary models are clearly not that good.

Hello,

Yes, the first sound is cut off, unfortunately, with the Aeropex, and so far as
I know, this has been the case for Aftershokz products for the past couple of
years or so.

Hello.

I’ve recently been on the hunt for either bone conduction or audio glasses to
use with my iPhone 12 pro and VO. I just returned a pair of Echo Frames. They
were actually quite good and I would have kept them but battery life was dismal
only going for a few hours, nowhere near a full day of useage.

I just received and have been using the Aftershokz Open

Comm. Although they have several different models now, I got the OpenComm due
to their longer talk time of 16 hours. They are pretty good but with a couple
of issues.

1. Using the multi function button to involk siri doesn’t work although
the button work fine for other functions.
2. The first part of a word is often cut off, maybe some sort of battery
saving logic.

I’m wondering if you have run into either one of these issues with the AeroPex
model?

I’d appreciate any thoughts on this. I’ve already done things like forgetting
and re-pairing the headset and also have done a reset as well. Unfortunately
not working with Siri is a deal breaker for me but I really like the headset
otherwise so am terying to see if there is anything I can do to get it working
properly. Aftershokz support thus far has not responded to me regarding these
issues.

Warmest regards

Hello,

Yes, the first sound is cut off, unfortunately, with the Aeropex, and so
far as I know, this has been the case for Aftershokz products for the past
couple of years or so.

RE: Alternatives to AfterShokz bone conduction

2021-01-10 Thread rick.alfaro

Rick Alfaro

Re: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-10 Thread Nimer Jaber
The Trekz Air were a bit bigger and a bit less comfortable for longer
periods. Also, the audio just wasn't as clear and lacked a bit more base.
The aeropex are great at noise isolation, they vibrate less, are lighter on
the head, the band is narrow and flexible, and I am a fan of the magnetic
charger cables rather than micro USB.

Thanks.

What are the diffeerences between the Aero Trekz and the Aeropex? I know I

Re: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-10 Thread Nimer Jaber
Hello,

I've tried a number of different ones, but the Aftershokz were the best in
terms of audio quality, sound leakage, and comfort. I use the Aeropex, and
find them to be the best ones yet.

Thanks.
