RE: turning off updates

2020-09-21 Thread Anne West
I turned off automatic updates yesterday. I don’t like technology telling me
what to do. I like to tell it what to do!

I had jumped over that button when I went there earlier. Now, that little
problem is taken care of.

Smile!

Thanks so much!

I still have 13.7 on an IPhone 8. When I go to settings / general/ software
updates, there is a button labeled customize automatic updates at the bottom
below the learn more and download & install buttons. Tapping this customize
automatic updates gives you a screen where you can toggle download IOS updates
on & off. Turning it off prevents automatic updates.

RE: turning off updates

2020-09-20 Thread Alan Lemly
And iOS 14 has definitely changed the location of some of the update settings.
Pre-iOS 14, if you wanted to turn off automatic download of app updates, you
went to Settings, your named account, and iTunes and App Store. In iOS 14, you
go to where Sieghard directed for iOS updates and for app updates, you go to
Settings, App Store.

I also find customize which does not have an option to turn off automatic

I had jumped over that button when I went there earlier. Now, that little
problem is taken care of.

Goes to show how quick one forgets. I think the "Automatic Updates" button
might be new in iOS 14 and that before this it was under "Customize".

Tammy might get better suggestions if she included the iOS version she has, is
it 13 or is she still on iOS 12?

For me, the first thing under Settings, general, Software updates, is a button
labeled, Automatic updates.

Double tapping on that gives, two options, automatically download, and
automatically install.

You can turn either or both off.

Now, this may be new in 14, so you possibly don’t see that. I don’t have a
device running 13.7 to check.

Try using the search feature at the top of Settings, and enter update and see
what comes up.

RE: turning off updates

2020-09-20 Thread ms.sunflower61
Ok, I just went there. 14 is dimmed and the only other things I find is
download and install.

I also find customize which does not have an option to turn off automatic
updates.

Thanks!

Tammy

Hello,

Apparently, I am looking in the wrong place. Where do I go to turn off
software auto updates? I have the SE2020.

Thanks!

Tammy
