I have missed much of this thread. However, when messages won't
delete it is sometimes caused by the roter being on something other
than 'actions'. If you have already tried fiddling with the roter,
sorry for the repetition.

Also, I discovered that one of the messages is not in a thread. It might have
been at one point, and I deleted the rest of the messages earlier.

Hello Terri. I suspect that you might have the complete threading turned on. If
you turn this setting off they should go away. You'll find it in the mail
settings in the threading section.
