There are bluetooth devices from FitBit and others that you can put in
your pocket or clip to a sleeve or pant leg. They'll work with the
FitBit app, but I'm not sure they integrate with other fitness apps.

Re: Pedometer

2016-11-11 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I can't tell from reading this thread, but the search suggestions aren't
the same thing as the search results. If you type a search term into the
edit field and start flicking through the search suggestions you may not
find something that you will find in the full search results which you
get when you press enter or search on the keyboard. Maybe this is why
some people are claiming they can't find this app.

On 11/11/16 14:27, Paul Richard McGann wrote:

todd, go to app store, and go to search tab and click, then go back to

all and I clicked to enter. it works. you can find pedometer++ when you
go through list.

so I suggest for your eyes (fingers) to be checked.

Hi Todd,

This email is intended as a friendly email not as an insult even though I know
you’ll probably take it as the latter.

I suggest you consider how you reply to emails which are direct replies to
something you posted and are intended to help you. You posted you couldn’t find
“Pedometer ++”. I noticed you put a space between “Pedometer” and “++” and
simply pointed this out saying that if you search for “Pedometer++” without a
space you find it easily. You then reply with “Let this go” which sounds as if
I had sent you 10 emails pointing this out and just wouldn’t stop harassing
you. If you continue to do this you will soon get no replies from people as
nobody feels like being put down when they are trying to help. Also, replies
like “Search on Amazon and you’ll find this” or whatever the wording was you
sent as a reply to Vicky’s question about suggestions for good wall chargers
does not help, I’m sure Vicky knows how to search Amazon, but if somebody asks
for recommendations then replies should contain the name of the product under
discussion and what you find good or not good about it. Replying with “Look on
Amazon” or why don’t you Google this are just adding to the number of useless
posts on the list. We are all here to help each other and sometimes people here
ask simple questions which many of us know, sometimes a member may just not be
good at searching on Google or Amazon and all they want is a bit of extra help
from those of us who are good at it and there is nothing wrong with it, in
fact, what is wrong with it is if they get replies like “You can find it on
Amazon”. Why not say “Here is what I searched for on Amazon (or Google) and
below is a link”, this way maybe the person actually learned something from
your reply and is more encouraged to try to search next time.

I know that I will probably get a bad reply from you to this email, but I think
if you want to be a productive and valued member in this group you need to
relax and follow the rules. If you aren’t sure what they are maybe Mark or Cara
can repost some of the guidelines which have been posted here from time to time.

Regards,

Sieghard

What kind of device are you using. iPhone or IPad? You might have to change
your search to iPhone.

Rich, how did you do that? You pressed on the search tab to make it become

RE: Pedometer

2016-11-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Sieghard

Pedometer Apps That Work with Locked Screen? was RE: Pedometer App on iOS 8?

2015-02-01 Thread Alan Lemly
Well, I'm showing both Steps and Walking Distance on the Health Dashboard
but they both say no data. I usually have my iPhone 5 in my pocket listening
to BARD books with the screen locked while I walk. I suspect the phone must
be on and active for the Health Pedometer to track anything but when I tried
this walking around the house, I still get no steps shown.

Can someone confirm if the phone must be unlocked for the Steps app to
track? Also, are there any accessible pedometer apps that work while the
phone is locked?

Thanks.

Yeah, it takes a moment to populate those fields. Two things to try here. 1.
Try tapping on the fields, or 2. Try switching from day view to week view. 3.
Try switching from add data back to dashboard again.

this walking around the house, I still get no steps shown.

Can someone confirm if the phone must be unlocked for the Steps app to track?
Also, are there any accessible pedometer apps that work while the phone is
 locked?

 Thanks.

RE: Pedometer Apps That Work with Locked Screen? was RE: Pedometer App on iOS 8?

2015-02-01 Thread Alan Lemly
I think I might have figured out my problem. I normally mention my iPhone
version if I think it is relevant to the post but forgot to do so with this
thread. I'm running an iPhone 5 and believe I saw a post on another list
that indicated that an iPhone 5S or higher was needed to automatically track
steps with the pedometer built into the iOS 8 Health app.

Can someone confirm this? I tried calling Apple iPhone Support but got
someone who was not helpful who suggested I reset my phone. I always know
when I have a rep more clueless than me when they trot out that age old
remedy. I know that resets are required from time to time but I'm pretty
sure that's not the case here.

Thanks.

Alan

Yeah, it takes a moment to populate those fields. Two things to try here. 1.
Try tapping on the fields, or 2. Try switching from day view to week view.
3. Try switching from add data back to dashboard again.

Re: Pedometer App on iOS 8?

2015-01-31 Thread Brett
Hi,

It does, mine is working here, but I am not exactly sure what I did. Try adding
stteps to the dashboard of the health app and I think that should get it
counting your steps.

If this doesn't work, let me know and I will investigate further.

Cheers,
Brett.

2013-02-24 Thread RobH!
There's a bunch of us use this, it's accessible and does what it says on the
box!

Just start iTreadmill and drop your iPhone/iPod Touch into your pocket. It
will use the accelerometer to accurately measure:

?Current Average Speed Pace
?Time elapsed
?Strike Rate (steps/min)
…more info than a real treadmill!
Record your workout while walking the mall, count steps at work/home,
run/walk in the neighborhood, park, track, in the gym on a
treadmill/elliptical. Bad weather? Run in place by your TV!
Goal Setting Graphs motivate you to reach your fitness goals beyond!
Some apps are too complex, some too basic. iTM has the right balance of
features ease of use. At its core is PocketStep™ technology, proven the
most accurate - beating other apps real pedometers in accuracy tests by
users!
iTM has Distance Correction, which calculates uses your real stride!
Others use estimated strides.
*Works in your pocket or hand (pls minimize arm swings)! No expensive arm
band/belt clip needed, though it works great with those too!

I couldn't find Itreadmill, but I did find something called LazyWalk, which
has some unlabeled buttons, but which showed me that running up and down my
apartment three times with the OtterBox roof on and screen locked, I
traveled 85 feet. It's not entirely accessible, but I couldn't find the
other one and I was playing so…

2013-02-24 Thread Mark BurningHawk
Okay, col; I don't know why I didn't find it in the aPp store on the pad. I'm
not sure how to download an App for the pad on my MBP and then install it on
the pad. hmm. Lazy walk is cool but does less than ITreadmill.
