RE: Phone update question

2024-03-31 Thread Rob Armstrong
You should first take a backup of your current system just to be safe. You can
back up to iCloud. But the better approach is to take an encrypted backup to a
Windows computer or a Mac. I have never had to restore from a backup, but I
always take a backup before a major update to a new release.

You should probably have your phone plugged into the battery charger while
doing the update. Start the update when you are getting ready to go to bed.
You will have to enter the pass code to begin the update. After you enter the
pass code, the update will happen without you having to do anything.

When I did the update a few weeks ago, an error occurred during the download of
the new version. There was an option to retry. After I double tapped Retry,
the update downloaded and installed without any more problem.

When the update finishes, it automatically shuts down and restarts the phone.
It will be on the home screen.

I'm one of those people who update their phones later than most. This morning,
I wanted to download an APP and discovered I'd have to have the latest version.
Good reason to update from iOS 16. Is there a way to do this by having it
happen overnight, instead of putting my phone out of commission during the day
while the update is being installed? Thanks for any suggestions.

2017-10-24 Thread Billy Maynard

hi,

I too am using a 6+ and as I said I'm still on 10.3.3. I've been using
iPhones since the 4s and I've never experienced an ios upgrade without my
express permission to do so. My partner says his 7 upgraded but, I've
never had this happen which is why Ithink those that have expeirenced an
automatic update had to agree to it somehow. Another option when the
update altert pops up is hit details then back out of it from the next
screen. Once I thoguht my phone updated automaticly but, the next time
when I used later in the options I saw the will update between 2-4 A.M.
and realised it did not update automaticly but, that the hours it would
update wehre not spoken when I was prompted to enter my passcode after
hitting later. as for it not having the terms of service agree/disagree I
don't recall an ios update that has never had that but, I'm not sure about
this.

I can understand how this process can be a little confusing. When you get the
popup, hit later. The passcode screen will come up. When it does, find the
button at the bottom of the screen called remind me later, and press it. The
popup will go away, and your phone won't update.

Thanks,

that a new version of IOS is avalable is if you double tap later and double

update at night between 2-4 A.M. Otherwise IOS does not update on it's own
