Can you check the VNC Server computer's Application Event Log for messages
from WinVNC4, that start "Connections: closed", and see what they say in the
case where it's closing unexpectedly?
How frequently does it close?

I run VNC 4.1 all day from my desktop to my laptop, over just a home
network, and it works flawless, no issues at all, unless I close it.
