Panther and Scaling System Fonts

Hi all. I am banging my head against the desk because of this simple little thing. I want to use my monitor in its highest resolution, the problem is I can't read my text. I knew how to change this in 9 but I can't find this option anywhere in the System Preferences in Panther. Can someone
