Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) first.
The SMC controls the operation of the fans and this may clear a problem if it
is coming from there.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.

I have previously reset the SMC the first time the problem occurred. As it is
so infrequent I have not bothered again but will try your suggestions if/when
it happens again. Frequency has only been about every 4-6 weeks and the number
of occurrences has only been about 3
In my last email I should have said a known indication etc.
