Talking Firewire 800 400 I recenty picked up two Vantec NexStar MX dual bay drives with 2 x FW800, 1 x FW400 and 1 x USB. Having a 27 iMac with one FW800 port and wanting to connect by FW to an old PowerBook G4 with only FW400 I thought I may be needing a FW800-400 cable. Apparently not.

sorry to say that: i do not recommend bus powered hard drives, if you have more then one on the bus (usb or fw) you get strange crashes or freeze effects because of the limited power available on the bus system!which causes hds to fail/corrupt James On 09/01/2010, at 7:15, James

Hi John, I¹m surprised the WD drive didn¹t come with a FW800 cable (both my WD drives, so far, came with both FW USB cables). However, I¹ve found places like Austin computers (Osborne Park) generally carry a good range of cables though their site at present only seems to show FW400 and FW800
