I have auto updates switched on.
Apple seems to have updates at very regular intervals this year.

Everything that Time Machine does is logged to the system log, so it is

Open Console in Applications/Utilities
To find the activity for Time Machine, you only need to know that the Time

All of the usual things are not working to get it to go to sleep.
However, I have just worked it out. In Activity Monitor, the list of things
preventing sleep included “cupsd”.
I went to the print queue and there are a number of failed print jobs. I
cancelled them and sleep works
