Re: [WAMUG] Two iPhones receiving my SMS replies ?

2022-09-07 Thread Daniel Kerr via WAMUG
Hi Stephen

Sorry, may not have written that well.
On her iPad she would be removing your mobile number, as you mentioned she’s
getting your texts. So you want to remove the mobile number that the texts are
*meant* to be what you want to remove.
Eg if I was doing it on my iPad with no phone number (just an Apple ID), would
be removing my mobile OFF the iPad in the setting I mentioned.
(Or if no mobile, then the AppleID that the messages are being sent to).

Hope that helps.
Kind regards
Daniel

I don’t think Automator is the modern answer, not having been
updated for many years. The modern equivalent is Shortcuts, but
since I’ve done little more with it than a quick tour, it’s going to
take a bit of study and practice to be able to answer your question,
from my POV at least. I presume you've checked your preference
settings in both Pages and Word...?

Re: [WAMUG] Two iPhones receiving my SMS replies ?

2022-09-07 Thread Peter Crisp via WAMUG
Hi Stephen, I can recall I had this problem many many years ago. I was
thinking the quick solution is the one Daniel indicated would be a
quick one for you. But there is another way and this has been 100% the
best way forward for my family of 5 people. We all shared the one Apple
ID at one point in time and it sort of worked ok and using the solution
Daniel indicated we kept our texts to ourselves across our own devices.
When Apple introduced the Family Sharing functionality, that
revolutionized this issue of overlapping texts between users to
disappear but many other things became very easily managed.

The link below is worth a read and it may seem daunting but is actually
   very easy to set up.

For my family - I am the Organiser, my wife (is created as a
Parent/Guardian) and three kids are all Family members in the Family I
created. My wife and I both have ability to Approve or Decline our kids
purchase of apps (underwritten by my credit card). Apps bought by any
family member automatically gives all family members the ability to
download that same app for no more payment as well. In app purchases
are Apple ID specific - one to be aware of but still needs specific
approval for each in app purchase. In setting up the family, each
family member will need to create their own Apple ID (email and
password) to set up their future in the Apple ecosystem. This may be
challenging for your wife if you're to be the Organiser and she is a
'subordinate' Family Member (But still with Organiser authority to
purchase etc) as she will become distanced from the things she has at
her fingertips that are associated with your Apple ID now but making
the break is something worth considering. The link should explain the
process of migrating things across (Contacts, Mail etc)

   Kind Regards

Re: [WAMUG] Two iPhones receiving my SMS replies ?

Hi Stephen

Yes, if you’re using the same AppleID that would be why,

You can disable it by the following…
On your wife’s iPad go to Settings - Messages.
Tap on “Send & Receive”. You’ll see a list od AppleID’s and phone numbers.
Untick the phone number you don’t want her to receive them on. (In the top
section)
This will then remove it from the “list of replies”.

That should then resolve it.
Kind regards
Daniel

Otherwise it’s going to be a long process to do it individually.

Complication is that now Get info on Pages documents no longer even
