You could try starting up in Safe Mode and then restart normally. Rebooting your Mac in Safe Mode can sometimes get things working well-enough that a second normal reboot then works normally. Hold down the Shift key at startup to boot in Safe Mode. 1.Be sure the computer is shut down. 2.Press the power button. 3.Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key. Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before. 4.Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear). During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see Safe Boot on the Mac OS X startup screen. During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see Safe Boot on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. Then restart normally. If the problem persists post back to WAMUG Cheers, Ronni 17 MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Quad-Core i7 “Thunderbolt 2.3GHz / 8GB / 750GB @ 7200rpm HD OS X 10.7.2 Lion Windows 7 Ultimate (under sufferance) Hello Ronnie, thanks for your and Bob's assitance. My brain is hurting now. I really appreciate all the responses, but Ive pretty much given up and will get someone who really knows what they are doing to sort it out!! Thanx heaps, Rosalyn On 14/07/2010 2:40 PM, Neil Houghton n...@possumology.com wrote: Hi Rosalyn, I don't know if it will help, but you can check various aspects of the printer/print queue by using your browser to look at the CUPS area (behind the scenes in the Mac OS) - easier to do than to explain! On my computer, the following URLs are relevant (for your computer you would replace the nrh-iMac27 with the name of YOUR computer - which you can see by looking in the Sharing pane of System preferences): http://nrh-imac27.local:631/ takes me to the top level (home) for CUPS which presents links to lots of info about CUPS. Clicking on the Printers tab (or directly inputting the following URL) takes me to: http://nrh-imac27.local:631/printers/ which gives a list of installed printers (in my case, at present, just one Canon iP4000) and their status (in my case, current status for the Canon is Idle) You can then click on the actual Queue Name for your printer which will take you to the actual page for that printer - in my case: http://nrh-imac27.local:631/printers/Canon_iP4000 Which gives a bit more description - ie Canon_iP4000 (Idle, Accepting Jobs, Shared) Obviously your set-up would give you printer name, rather than the Canon. As I say, I don't know if it will help you - but some of the status descriptions may give some pointer to your problem. Occasionally when I attempt to burn a dvd of images, it comes up with the message Buffer Underrun and the burning aborts. I have just tried to burn 2.65GB onto a 4.7GB dvd and it happened. There is about 5GB available on the HD. And then if I go to burn something else it will be fine. There seems to be no reason to it. WHY WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Hello Rosalyn, Buffer Underrun: CD-R/DVD-R drives put information from your hard drive into a buffer (i.e. memory area) before they write (copy) it to the Disc. The idea behind a buffer is to maintain a steady flow of information to the unit. When you burn a CD or DVD, it's done on the fly. The CD-R/DVD-R drive tries to keep its buffer full (or close to it) at all times. As long as there is information in the buffer, the CD-R /DVD-R drive can write to the disc. If the buffer gets emptied out and not refilled (usually due to the computer being busy with something else) the CD-R/DVD-R drive has nothing to write to the Disc that's spinning inside of it. Unfortunately, a CD/DVD has to have information on every section that's written, so you end up with the buffer underrun error and (in most cases) a disc that is useless. To help prevent this problem, don't mess with your computer while it's writing to a Disc, Quit other applications (you may want to disable your screen saver too). Also try burning at a slower speed. .xml doc
Hi, Can anyone help??? I am updating our website with a new programme, and it is proving very complicated, (and more than a little bit frustrating!!) Firstly what I need to know is how do I save an xml document in Illustrator? I can open it in AI but when I make changes it will not save as an xml again, it converts to an .ai doc. I need it to be an xml to get the info onto the website. Hopefully this makes sense and the answer is simple Any advice welcome!!
