Brian, I am set to Australia and all the displayed sample formats are as
required. The custom box is greyed out. Word11 is obviously overriding this
setting.

format?
(May have to select all text before changing Language setting.)

I don't have Word 11, only Word 8 but I was wondering if setting the language
to English (UK) might work.
They might think we're the 51st State but they sure as heck know their cousins
across the lake are definitely not.

The menu item Insert/Date and Time uses US format. i.e. today is 6/30/12 not
30/6/12. In Excel you can customise the format but I can not find where to do

you will now see 'Formats' tab at top 3rd one across
the a region box, you can select a country - Australia, mine is set to custom.
