[wtr-general] Question about javascript in watir

2010-03-08 Thread Moises Siles
Hi all

I'm exporting my selenium scripts to watir, but I have some functions in my
user-extensions.js file, here is one of them

if
(selenium.browserbot.getCurrentWindow().document.getElementById(id).style.display=='none')
{
storedVars[value] = true;
}
else
{
storedVars[value] = false;
}

how can I run that kind of validation in watir, or how can I execute js code
in watir?

Thanks

[wtr-general] Access to dojopopupmenu2

2010-03-08 Thread barb
Hi,
 I will start by saying I am very new to this concept of Watir and
Ruby. I am attempting to write a beginning test script to do the
following:
1. Login to the web application
2. Navigate to the new project page
3. Enter the required data
4. Right click and select Save

It is the the 4th step that is kicking me around. The issue I believe
is the application is using a dojo menu within a table within a
frame. I have included the script thus far and the components to the
item.

I did try the element_by_xpath solution I found here but received the
following in my irb session
 ).form(:id, 'ipbObject').text_field(:name,
'value(name)').set('webmet test')
=
ement_by_xpath(//d...@dojomenuitem2label='Save']).click
NoMethodError: undefined method `click' for nil:NilClass
  from (irb):23
from C:/Ruby19/bin/irb:12:in `main'

The maddening part is I can see what I want to access in the IE
Developer toolbar..I just do not know how. I am sure it is rather
simple but I am not seeing the solution.

Also thanks for maintaining a group on this topic.

Thanks in Advance.
Barb

Here is the script thus far it all works.

require 'watir'
browser = Watir::Browser.start  http://##.##.#.##/foo/;
browser.text_field(:name, j_username).set(name1)
browser.text_field(:name, j_password).set(Pwd!)
browser.button(:value,Sign-In).click

Watir::Waiter::wait_until {browser.div(:text, Produce).exists? }

#click on the Produce blue bar
browser.div(:text, Produce).click

#Click on New to expose the choices
browser.div(:text,New).click

#Click on Project to get the new project
browser.link(:text,Project).click

#Enter the required data
browser.frame(:name, foobIFrame).form(:id,
'ipbObject').text_field(:name, 'value(name)').set('webmet test')

#right click and select save
browser.element_by_xpath(//d...@dojomenuitem2label='Save']).click

The last line above is what generate the error posted above.

Here is the Element source from within the IE Developer tool

For the HTML you provide, we can't do anything.

Do you want a right click? Why?
element_by_xpath is not a good method to locate an element.

[wtr-general] Window close and Javascript popup problem on Watir 1.6.5/Ruby 1.8.6-26

2010-03-08 Thread DerekW
Hi,

I've noticed the following behavioural differences between Watir 1.6.2
and 1.6.5. Has anyone experienced the following?

Under Ruby 1.6.2 if I do the following from irb:

1. Attach to the window; ie=Watir::IE.attach(:title,/Blah blah/)
2. Change properties of the application in the window attached to thus
dirtying the window.
3. Closing the window; ie.close and because of this forcing a pop-up
to appear that requests the user to save changed state because they
are attempting to navigate away from the page.
4. When I do this, the Javascript popup appears but ie.close COMPLETES
(irb does not hang) so that I can subsequently programmatically
OK/Cancel the popup.

If I do steps 1-3 under watir 1.6.5 then the Javascript popup appears
but ie.close BLOCKS (irb hangs, control-C or OK on the Javascript
popup unblocks it is required to cause ie.close to complete).

Something appears to behave differently (to ie.close???) between watir
1.6.2 and watir 1.6.5. Since these experiments were carried out under
IE 8 and Windows 7 in both cases I believe that I can rule these
factors out.

Is this a possible issue with Watir 1.6.5?

Regards,
Derek Wong.

Re: [wtr-general] Window close and Javascript popup problem on Watir 1.6.5/Ruby 1.8.6-26

2010-03-08 Thread Ethan
Watir::IE#close does wait until the window ceases to exist before returning.
Not sure when that was added, but I guess it was between 1.6.2 and 1.6.5.
(see Watir::IE#close in
http://github.com/bret/watir/blob/master/watir/lib/watir/ie-class.rb )

You could get around this by calling

browser.ie.quit

where the browser is a Watir::IE object; #ie is an accessor returning @ie
which is a win32ole object; and #quit being a win32ole method which you'd be
calling directly rather than through watir's #close method.

 Hi guys,I'm new with watir, how can I verify an element with the display
 property in none. I need to check if an element is hide or not in the page.
 I think this is too easy, but I couldn't find any solution for this, I'm
 trying to verify the css using xpath but doesn't work for me :S

 thanks in advance
