Thanks, Margaret. There are many sayings that are readily evident in
meaning, but I just didn't get the alley-fish meaning. By the way, we're
only 3 hours from "Nashville." Maybe we'll see you or Floyd one of these
days

From Neal Bower’s “Mayberry 101” comes this explanation of Gomer’s comment to
Barney in the Citizen’s Arrest episode:
The phrase was apparently first introduced on television in the 1963 episode of
The Andy Griffith Show. It was put in the “Citizens Arrest” script by show
writer Everette Greenb
Mr. Wimberly, Barney didn't say the quote, it was Gomer. The episode was
Citizen's Arrest. Gomer tells Barney ?You just go up an alley and holler
fish.? This was after Barney gave Gomer a ticket for making a U-Turn.
Not sure what it means.
